    I love this kind of photography. Chasing mist can be stressful, I much prefer hunting for light and colour, it allows you to slow right down and enjoy the moment.

    Hi Stuart (yep I have my coffee as I’m typing!) and to everyone watching - Stuart is an amazing teacher, it was without question a half day elite masterclass and for my first pro workshop Stuart was my first and only choice.
    I went back the day after you Stuart! (this video) to put into practice what you had taught me and it was like all the lights had come on composition wise, just need that laptop! 😂 till the next time 😁 🙌

    Hi Stuart, another interesting and enjoyable video, thanks for another grand day out. I know I usually say this, but again super images, and as you say its very nearly peak Autumn for colour. Keep up the good work, and all the best to you and yours.

    Thanks for the recommendation Stuart - much appreciated. Lovely images despite the flat light, and I agree that sunlight playing on all the scenes makes all the difference. Take it easy and all the best with your workshops.

    Enjoyed that Stuart. I gotta be honest, I wasn’t expecting the backlit scene to trump the flat light shot at the end. I thought the contrast would have been awful with all that added colour of autumn, but how wrong was I! It was a stunner. As for the fluff, it’s better than a bogey. Be grateful for that 👍

    Lovely to see the autumnal colours as I am currently enjoying a road trip in New Zealand in spring. I loved how the branches were acting if presenting the beautiful colours to us in your earlier composition....the image with the light with Andy is my favourite from both

    Hello Stuart, thanks for a very enjoyable video.
    In the last image, l find the tree in question works better because it's grounded and becomes part of the scene, whereas the other image it becomes a bar-like intrusion.
    The colours are here in Cornwall and light winds but the light continues to be so flat!
    I've put a lot of things on hold, so l can spring into action should conditions improve!

    The light makes such a difference, Stu, along with nailing the composition. I still look back at an image I took with you in Borrowdale Woods and think I would like to shoot it again, as I didn't quite nail the focus first time around and it niggles me everytime I look at it.

    It's been a strange Autumn. Just returned from a weekend in Dartmoor and the tree's were all in various stages of colour. We found Oaks that had lost half their leaves and what was left were a mixture of dead or still green. We also found Oaks that were still fully green as in summer and Beech Tree's in similar stages. I assume due to the poor summer and mild start to winter. I'm guessing a cold spell will really force the colours to appear. I do struggle to prevent overlap in the branches. It's very challenging. You certainly managed to achieve it

    Yesterday's image is miles better, but also the dead looking tree has a base . The "today" image doesn't show its base so that for me makes the yesterday image again much better. For me woodland images shot in flat light are generally, well flat. Woodland photography imho is much better with dappled patchy light highlighting branches and leaves. Colour saturation can be an issue but that's controllable in post anyway.

    Stuart, I think I prefer the image taken in the flat light. There is a greater sense of depth and it has a more painterly quality. I feel the light in the second image is a little too much and a bit too strong - would have been better had it just highlighted a small part of the scene rather than most of the scene. Lovely all the same.

    • @StuartMcGlennon
      @StuartMcGlennon  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cheers, funny how we all see things differently, I don’t mind the strong light as it helps keep the shadow areas in the back of the image dark, without that light it looks a bit two dimensional in the flatter version to my eye. In an ideal world mist sorts this without the strong light.

    Autumn...Time of the year some animals are busy fattening up. Preparing for the " sleep " through the winter. Eat anything....Come spring....The planet begins a " born" New " generation " lives on the trees. The colors rising up out of a slowly softening ground. And the animals....A wake....Bears....Very hungry, some with young, very hungry and VERY aggressive. Here in America....Two seasons to be extra careful when treking the country side.
