The biggest reason for France railing against RU is to try and ease Russian Pressure in Africa were FR has lost Niger, Chad and Mali to Pro Russian Military Juntas. Niger in particular has Uranium mines which supply FR with 12% of its total needs for nuclear fuel but at the cheapest price and highest quality. The truth is: be at 1k or 15k French troops - what difference does it make? It's a drop into a sea, considering the scale of this war. As for Transnistria - yes, French can pull off the capture, as Transnistrian forces have massively outdated equipment. But there are Russian peace keepers, attacking them will be akin to declaring a war, just like what happened in Georgia in 2008. To summarize: Napoleon wannabe better zip his up and sit down. One very important element is not mentioned here.
France was a member of the coalition that invaded Afghanistan after the WTC attack in 2001. After the ousting of the talibans from power and the destruction of Ben Laden’s base, French troops stayed for reasons… as vital to the interests of the French nation as ensuring local girls could go to school.
Then, one day, 10 paratroopers and one lorry driver were killed in one single operation. The 10 were killed in an ambush set by local rebels and the driver died in a crash while supporting the search and (get) destroy(ed) operation.
France was in a state of shock. A grandiose honour ceremony was held in Paris, with the eleven coffins in the main courtyard of the Hôtel des Invalides. And for days, if not weeks, the press was full of the fact that the French army had not known such a high casualty rate for decades.
As soon as enough time had passed so the French government could rebuff accusations the decision was a direct consequence of the loss of the soldiers, French troops were instructed to leave Afghanistan.
Eleven men. That’s about the number of men that may be killed if a loaded transport IFV gets smashed by a direct hit.
Therefore I clearly see that the country, after decades of chasing off sandalled rebels in underdeveloped countries, is absolutely not ready for the level of casualties implied by today’s war in Ukraine.
And that’s the main reason why there won’t be French troops sent there.
Because Ukrain was ready, russia was ready ? nobody is ready for that, but once you're in there, there is no going back and you have to deal with it, you can't compare afghanistan to ukraine.

I live on the French-Begian border. Nobody here is convinced that either France or any other EU member will actually go boots on the ground in Ukraine. It's just talk meant to threathen Russia and show that we are willing to defend ourselves if push comes to shove. Watching this as an American makes me realize how scary my country's military actually is.
France literally needed help in Libya after exhausting their ammunition stocks after 1 week. Many don't have faith in any European nation to spearhead a war of this scale. It 100% would have to be led by the US. And the American public isnt exactly itching to lose American lives after the disaster in Iraq and Afghanistan. US public appetite for war is like an athlete coming back from a torn muscle or broken leg: Much more cautious and hesitant to show the same aggression pre-injury.
I'm guessing this is either a bluff or merely a NATO member testing the waters since they have some damning information that war is on the horizon. Considering how on point Western intelligence has been. We may very well see a war against China in 2027 in Taiwan and the China Sea.

France is so agro, because they are in a devastating situation. They are losing in Ukraine and Russia is removing their foothold in Africa. There are 3 options for Europe as a whole:
1) They will collapse over time, by all the conflicts in the world
2) They will go to war in Ukraine, then there will be multiple fronts opened on the world against NATO, Taiwan, Syria, Iraq, Israel, Africa. The western people wont fight for their countries, so it will be a desaster.
3) They break up, between an eastern and western alliance. It would be good for Germany to focus on cooperation with Russia, China,… against the rest of the NATO, otherwise their will go down with the rest of Europe.
This is at least my opinion. Europe is in a check mate situation, they can decide how they want to go down.

Why the fuck would Germany cooperating with Russia and China be a good thing for anyone. Geo-politics aside, I like the west for its democratic values and free press. How hard is it to get those shells to the front lines? Only a couple of ways to get things there from Russia and the bridge is never going to be a safe route. What if Ukraine starts using the same tactics they are use on oil refineries against munitions factories? Not sure how centralized the munitions production is but I doubt it's very disbursed. Eventually if this war goes on long enough Ukraine will be able to target deeper into Russia and disrupt munition supplies. I wish Russians would just go home and live prosperous life's with their abundant natural resources but I fear this is all just getting started
Russia are having no difficulties at all getting shells to the front line. The regions that were Ukraine are now Russian territory which they completely control. Ukraine are running low on munitions and the west does not have anymore to give them. Russia are producing 3 times as many shells in a month as all of NATO combined.
