  • Riding 1,000kms in one day... we must be mad! ...... Ground Hog Day in America, so why not celebrate by doing something "different" today by riding around Tasmania in one day in typical Tasmanian summer weather. The madness continues.

Well what a magnifisent day it was, I was hoping to experience some thing I have not in a long time and that was a wide range of emotions from great joy and antisipation to just stab me in the eye right now. What can I say the day delivered this in spades, this true roller-coaster of emotions, spectacular to experience and can help one braughden ones mind and soul to a higher understanding of yourself, it was the best. Tasmania can be sooooooooo unforgiving and arduous to travel through and only bliss and great joy follows due to the harshness and unforgivingness you just experienced. Just sublime especially elevated by the company I was riding with Geoff and the rest of us fellows I must say there were giggles and laughter along the way .Awesome day hope to do it all again

Top Effort lads I know all those roads and have done them at speed but Never have i tried to do them in one run and definitely not with cold wet road surfaces .The west coast has leaves and slime on corners that never see the sun .Again top effort for safe travelling

Learnt after that 1st trip to pack for all weathers. Still don't mind riding through the wet now I carry the good gear needed. I normally don't prebook accommodation as it gives me the flexibility to hopefully miss the worst of the weather. I do my trips late Feb/ early March and reasonably quiet so good choice of places to stay. My next trip is 2021 and hanging out for that already!!!

Great Vid boys. Just turned 50 and coming back to motorcycling after 12 absent. Got a secondhand XJ900S Diversion 2001. Looking forward to TAssie tour myself. Cheers

Great effort fellas. Just scored a new job here in Melb which gives me 3 days off per week so planning starting for Tassie trip No.8 and haven't attempted the whole lap in a day so might add that to the wish list for later this year. I remember trip 1 way back in the day when I rode my Yammie XJ650 from the Wombat Cafe in Derwent bridge to Queenstown and the hotel receptionist told me they had 100mm of rain in the last 3 hours and I told them yep, I know as I went through the lot of it and never been so wet in all my life. Not fun at the time but taught me from then on to check the weather before picking which way to go east or West Coast...lol

Ken Lowdon tassie summer weather.... 42 degrees last week, and it got down to 7 near cradle mountain, you defiantly need to pack for 4 season’s in one day

I piloted an Blue XJ 650 over those roads too ,it was a sure footed bike that would just shake its head once if one hit a pot hole when cranking it over on the pegs. wonderful bike ,great roads, awesome memories

Good stuff. A mate and I did the circuit clockwise in 1976 on a pair of Kawasaki 900's. We had rain from New Norfolk to Burnie and heaps of wet tar roadworks down the East Coast which rather slowed us down but we covered 1015 kms in 12:30. It was a good ride (the roads were a lot twistier then).

@@tassieadventurerider4815 and I think it might be time for a repeat. I have just returned from a Central Australia trip on my R1250GS, covering 10,600kms in 28 days, 20 days riding time. Unfortunately a lap of the island will take longer this time as speed cameras tend to spoil the fun, last time we were doubling the speed limit at times.....:) But it will still be good.
