    I really appreciate this video! I am currently working at a vet office and I too have become very discouraged. I always thought I wanted to work in the animal field but it is so stressful and the pay is laughable. Now I am looking at careers that I might not LOVE, but will pay the bills and then some. Then in my personal time, volunteer with animals.

    If you’re in vet med for the money, you’re never going to be happy and will end up so disappointed. Also probably best to get AT LEAST a years worth of vet med under your belt before you start school and realize you actually don’t like working with animals lol.

      That's my struggle. I love animals and want to work with them. But at every job I've tried, I'm so stressed out. The pay isn't even livable really. What I really want to do is work with wolves or at a zoo but the requirements are a lot, the pay isn't really livable, and there is so few openings.

    12.50 for one of the most expensive counties in the country is also terrible which is why I’m struggling so much trying to figure out what I’ll do with my life. I can’t even figuring out what to get my associates in.

    So the problem is not with the course...

      It’s with the job. You can get paid $17 with a degree and with another degree for two years you can earn like $40. The vet field is so messed up and also toxic.

    I work full time as a Head Tech. I dropped out of the Penn Foster Vet Tech program and refuse to recommend it to anyone else. Clinical experience is all you need to know that the program is dated, do no waste your money

      @RichardRunnar Are you still in the program? How are you liking it? I'm interested in doing it but I've heard finding externships can be tricky and passing all the video requirements is very hard too.

    What happens if you fail the proctored exam or score low? Do you fail the class and have to take it over again?

    Do you have to perform surgeries or procedures on people’s pets during your externships or are they laboratory animals from research breeding facilities? Thank you for any information

    • @MichaelArgenta-p4i
      @MichaelArgenta-p4i 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes ;you are required to practices procedures like rectal exams on you or your neibors pets...

    • @catsandcelery
      @catsandcelery 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Techs do not perform surgeries.

    • @voice4thevoicelessones

      @@catsandcelery I just looked it up and no, vet techs cannot perform surgeries but they can assist the veterinarian in the operating room. Thank you for your reply. My most important question is….where do the animals come from that the students train on? Are they beagles from laboratories? Or animals that are people’s pets? As the mom of an animal testing survivor beagle, I am VEHEMENTLY AGAINST animal testing on sentient beings, so I would literally NOT pursue this degree program through Penn Foster if I were to be required to work on laboratory animals. Thank you for any information.
