    One more Great video . Covered almost all points .
    While taking the snapshot of azure file storage account or NetApp is it possible to take snapshot of only specific profiles ?
    That way we can save the storage

    • @AzureAcademy
      @AzureAcademy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No there isn't. If is a snap of the entire share

    Thanks for sharing!!! Nice video!
    May I know would you mind to tell me where can I get the dashboard json that you show at 3.58?

    • @AzureAcademy
      @AzureAcademy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I put that dashboard together from the Azure Monitor and Log Analytics data from WVD. I will show you how to create it in my upcoming WVD Monitoring video...stay tuned!

    Do you have any more information for setting up the management VM and WVD GPO roles? I'm hitting a brick wall with it.
    Great videos btw!

      Can you be more specific on what you are looking for Tom? You said, setting up the management VM...not sure what you mean there... Also you mentioned WVD GPO roles...what are you looking for?

      @@AzureAcademy Thanks for the quick reply, maybe I'm getting confused but as far as i understand for an all cloud based WVD set up, you would have AADDS with the two azure managed domain cotrollers then your virtual desktop setup.
      You'll then need a management VM rather than a DC, where you install RSAT to populate AD and manage GPO's etc. I'm struggling with this part, if you have any info on setting this server up it would be great

    • @AzureAcademy

      to be clear with AADDS - If you have your own AD domain on prem, or in Azure and are trying to "extend" your domain with AADDS...it does not work that way. AADDS is a separate, independent, disconnected forest and domain...that you cannot manage. It is intended to be a cloud based AD domain solution in Azure. you are not a domain admin, you can't update the schema, you have limited access to Active Directory and limited ability to set and implement group policy. with that said...
      you would have to join a VM to the AADDS domain. Then you can install the RSAT tools and have limited ability's in AD and GPMC.
      If you let me know specifically what you are trying to do in AADDS I might be able to help.

    Off topic but am curious....If you have a hybrid setup, can you set up AADDS for a specific domain and use the SMB file share the way you would with "cloud only" setup and sort of ignore the fact that you have a hybrid setup? I ask because the users accessing wvd would be AAD created users, not synced from AD connect.... thanks in advance

    • @AzureAcademy

      in short YES...however, it might not be what you expect. see my video on Azure AD Domain Services with WVD - th-cam.com/video/Uayv69FZlyI/w-d-xo.html
      If you have an existing Active Directory domain already then you really will not be able to integrate it with AzureAD DS. Azure AD DS is a separate managed domain and forest that is not linked to your existing domain and is meant to be separate. but as a "born in the cloud" application / company YES it is there and works rather well for the right use case.

      @@AzureAcademy Thanks for your response! What if I stand up AADDS with a separate domain and create a wvd pool joined to that domain, will my 'synced from on-prem' users be able to access the pool the 'correct way'? (they are able to get on but ---->) Really my issue is that the vhd's (profiles) are not being written to the file share that I linked to the VM (I followed the FSLogix and file share stuff in your AADDS video to a T)....so I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the domain/AAD stuff......Extreme thanks in advance!!

    • @AzureAcademy
      @AzureAcademy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      so the issue with FSLogix would be that the on prem domain users are not members of the AADDS Domain
      even if you call the domain the same name like MSAzureAcademy.com. The users account like John@MSAzureAcademy.com will have a different password then your on prem domain because they are different accounts. To make the passwords the same you would need to reset them.
      If you don't mind the names being different or the passwords not being the same it will work just fine.

      @@AzureAcademy I proved out exactly what you just said! Had to change the passwords but got to keep the names the same (guessing that sent the hash to AADDS). Cannot thank you enough for all of your content.

    At th-cam.com/video/5aK6BoXcZnU/w-d-xo.html you mentioned about putting in \Machine folder - is this on the VM that will be imaged? As \Machine Folder does not seem to exist. I am assuming it would need to be created? Also the script in there does it need to be set to run via GPO?

    • @AzureAcademy
      @AzureAcademy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This location on the VM is where we run LOCAL group policy. if it doesn't exist then YES create it. The script will be kicked off as part of system start up.
