Little detail about Mario's hitbox, Mario's hitbox is normal [when interacting with Geometry) so you could enter the igloo crawling

Regarding Mario's size, I was disappointed that the cannon didn't shoot him into outer space.

Mario starts at 12.5% his normal size. If Mario was the size of an average adult, he would now be the size of an 18-week fetus.
After not being able to enter the first painting, Mario grows to 15.1%. He would now be the size of a 21-week fetus.
The steps in BitDW required Mario to grow to 18%, or the size of a 24-week fetus. However, this still wasn't enough, so Mario grew to 21.2%, the size of a 28-week fetus. This still wasn't enough, so Mario grew to 25%, the size of a 33-week fetus.
The final steps in BitDW required Mario to grow to 29.6%, or the size of a newborn baby.
After not being able to enter TTC or RR, Mario grew to 35.2%, or somewhere between the size of a 3-month and 4-month old baby.
After still not being able to enter TTC, Mario grew to 41.9%, or the size of an 11-month-old baby.
If Mario needed to grow to 50% (as seen in the chart at 2:28), he would be the size of a 2-year-old.
If Mario needed to grow to 59.7%, he would be the size of a 4-year-old.
If Mario needed to grow to 71.1%, he would be the size of an 8-year-old.
If Mario needed to grow to 84.4%, he would be the size of a 12-year-old.
And finally, by definition, if Mario needed to grow to 100%, he would be the size of a normal adult.

Mario's hitbox is a point so crouching normally doesn't affect it, but the igloo uses special coding

I've just always jumped and climbed up onto the penguin's head and acted like I was a hat or something
I'm not sure if very many people knew that you can jump on the penguin's head. That's what I did the first time I played through that level.

Regarding the igloo: did you try just crouching?
The thing that prevents you entering is a ceiling. Mario has to crawl to get under it.
For ceilings, the game checks Mario's height from the position between his shoes. His head height has nothing to do with it. If he's in crawling state, it's a different calculation.
Now do this again but with some sort of mod that gives Mario an anti gravity mod. Tiny Mario with the jumping height of a flee could work
Also gravity needs to be in it and that gave me an idea...

The BLJ through the door left me disappointed.
He does that in some of these runs and that also disappoints me to it's not actually beating the challange I find that directly cheating it. As Small Mario without that is impossible

Great video, I really love the challenge videos that are based on ROM hacks, but at the nine minute mark you said you mashed the A button to swim faster, you actually swim slower if you do that. If you press A when Mario completes a full stroke, you swim even faster and you know you're doing it right if you hear a slightly different sound effect.
You probably could've gotten the stars in the jet streams in Jolly Roger Bay and Dire Dire Docks using this, you don't need the metal cap for those, just good timing. There was also that star in the cage in Dire Dire Docks, you said it was impossible to get it because Mario was too slow with the metal cap, but you only need the vanish cap for that one, so that one is probably possible too.
That'd put him up to 66 stars for the total count. He also could have used the spin drift in Cool Cool Mountain to float down to the wall kicks will work area. Assuming theres a way to kick up at that height that'd be 67. And then used the fly guy in Tall Tall Mountain to float down to the lonely mushroom star. So the challenge could be finished at 68. And even though not necessary he could have gotten the Bowser in the Sky star for a nice meme 69

He could also get the collect the caps star by just getting the vanish cap and skipping on the metal cap, since he swims at normal speed.

Anyway, mario is actually normal size, the hack is literally called "Tiny Huge Island 64" and in the description of the hack showcase it says that it transforms the game into Tiny Huge Island. And, Tetra is actually increasing mario's size past it's normal size

The engine cant handle bigger maps.

6:00 no, it’s just the fact that Mario 64s physics engine is accurate to real life in the fact that (to put it simply) the higher you are on the plank, the less plank is above you that you have to kick over, and you’re super low on it.
The more complicated explanation is that the plank acts as a sort of a half lever with the bottom as the fulcrum meaning the higher you go on the plank the more the force you apply is amplified.
Both through the jet stream stars can be obtained without metal cap. As normal mario at least. Since his swimming speed is not changed, I think it's still possible. Also the cage star of ddd is possible with just vanish cap.
I loved the concept of this video, but I like to see if you could do this legit. I honestly consider that BLJ cheating the challenge. I'm positive that the game would still be doable without the BLJ at the end.

It wasn't necessarily any number of a star run, just keep getting as many stars until something comes up! I could have tried for 70, but I figured it'd probably require Mario near his regular size, and I'd rather try to beat the game smaller than bigger !

You shouldn't of raised it at the start as you can technically go into another part of the castle (I think its Hazy Maze Cave) and you can get a star and continue.

That ruins the whole run for me because he didnt collect the stars required anyways. It's a cheap accuse to give a successful no one would be upset if he was honest and said no it's impossible to beat Mario 64 as tiny mario. (If a speed runner used this method it wouldn't count)
