On the original record, George actually uses his 1961 Fender Stratocaster for this song. This guy used a Fender Stratocaster, just like the original record. It indeed is perfect.
@@uu7467 But the Beatles would not play Fender guitars publicly. They were representing Rickenbacker and Gretsch, so played those models. They did use Fender Stratocasters for recording though.
Well not to be the only guy who actually knows about guitars but this guy is playing a remake of George Harrisons "Rocky Strat" which he did own also they didn't play live past a certain point so didn't have anything to do with public instrument presentation.
Excellent. I've heard this song for 50 years and your cover is practically perfect.
Thank you for commenting. It is amazing for 50 years listening this song. You listen since it was born.
@@KenjiMorita That's right. I'm 63 and I bought Abbey Road when it was new in the store. It was one of the first albums I bought. Back then we had to buy big vinyl records that could scratch and warp. :-) Again, your guitar work is great, and I know how hard it is to play guitar great. I never reached that level, although I tried. Thank you.
@@TheSteveGainesRockBand I'm 63,brought my first vinyl album when I was 10.Up to that point my Mom was buying them for me.I 've got about 300 L.P's Rock,Jazz and Classical and all my vinyl are in good shale because I took care of them.even the covers. All my rock stuff is The Beatles, Stones,Zepp, Monkees,Raiders,Chicago on and on.
Such a cocky title and very scary that the video lived up to the expectations 😳 you sir must be a guitar cyborg. Good job👏
I thought so too you could probably take out the original track for the john and george and replace it with this and no one would notice
Well it’s not that much of a cocky title to be honest it would be more cocky if he was like hey everyone look at me you know pulling more attention to himself which saying the word perfect kind of lacks that attention at least in my opinion
I’m a huge beatles fan and audio engineer. This is not perfect. Tons of Subtle off tempo hits. Pretty good, but calling it perfect is just ridiculous. That’s like saying your as good as the Beatles, which is factually impossible. Not to mention the production of Beatles tracks is near impossible to replicate. Did not enjoy this.
This really showcases the incredibly tasteful and thoughtful phrasing of George Harrison. He was far more skilled than he’s given credit for because he always served the song in such an understated way. Same with all four Beatles: the whole was infinitely greater than the sum of its parts.
sto620: I agree. Also, I think George did the best guitar playing of his career on Abbey Road. During the solo years that followed, he played mostly slide, which he was quite good at, but I definitely missed missed hearing him play fretted lead guitar.
Yessir.. All Things Must Pass might be my second or third favorite album ever and it's a really amazing showcase of everything George could do. Strum lightly or with heavy rhythm, play a variety of styles like Blues, Folk, Rock, Country, and of course his smooth ass licks and solos. What a legend. my favorite beatle just slightly over Paul.
The call-and-response lead guitar to the vocal melody is so darn tasteful
Indeed. What made The Beatles so great was the sum of its parts. The individual members all had decent solo careers, but apart from George's All Things Must Pass (by far the strongest release by any member post-Beatles), there is not an album of the individual members which even comes close to their least impressive efforts as a group. Paul was the musically versatile, John the best lyricist, George something in between, Ringo the drummer. They needed each other to thrive.
@@Funnybone_FB Probably what George wanted to do with Hey Jude, but was not allowed. It would have been tasteful. You know it would have.
Octopus Gardens are real things. The creatures collect tidbits that they find and store them nearby.
@@lemoneviltart then you are one beautiful soul. Keep on truckin' brother ✌️
That little lick in 2:33 has always been my favorite guitar part in the whole song
LYRICS
I'd like to be
Under the sea
In an octopus' garden
In the shade
He'd let us in
Knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden
In the shade
I'd ask my friends
To come and see
An octopus' garden
With me
I'd like to be
Under the sea
In an octopus' garden
In the shade
We would be warm
Below the storm
In our little hideaway
Beneath the waves
Resting our head
On the seabed
In an octopus' garden
Near a cave
We would sing
And dance around
Because we know
We can't be found
I'd like to be
Under the sea
In an octopus' garden
In the shade
We would shout
And swim about
The coral that lies
Beneath the waves
(Lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh what joy
For every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy
And they're safe
(Happy and they're safe)
We would be so happy
You and me
No one there to tell us
What to do
I'd like to be
Under the sea
In an octopus' garden
With you
In an octopus' garden
With you
In an octopus' garden
With you
Octopus Garden's solo is so underrated
If you listen to John’s isolated track, there is a lot being left out. This was really good regardless.
Yes, John was actually using the travis finger picking style on this song rather than using a pick like in this video
John played the rhythm guitar part with his fingers. It's the same as Julia and Dear Prudence.
that's true, and the pattern that this guy do is wrong, are the 2 last string in the original pattern
I'll comment that it's more difficult to play that sort of thing with a pick, so that makes this all the more impressive.
@@mysteryperson1976 yes, but he don't play it in the same way that you could play it with fingers, but he still did a great job
Once i saw the ' Rocky Strat' i knew this was gonna be good
George Harrison is all over this song. Credits should have been “Harrison and Starkey”
@@Mandrake591 Yeah, he gave Ringo sole credit on "It Don't Come Easy". But he smartly took co-credit on "Photograph", a song which undoubtedly made a ton of money. Then invested it in "Life of Brian". George was genuinely spiritual, but not a bad businessman.
It shows how much work goes into a song. Even on a song a lot of people thought was just filler. Not me Ringo was always my favorite so I’ve loved this song for 45 years. You guys played it wonderful totally captured the flow.
Ive always felt this song is wasted potential, thus people calling it filler. It should be a beautiful song on paper, but it just ended up being eh
Ahhh Ahhh actually Ringo had one of the better voices of the band that deep powerful baritone
Who the Fuck doesnt like octopus garden? Also beatles... Filler? No such thing. All there songs are A tier in my book.
@@davemeese6788 The worst Beatles song is miles above any other general pop songs. They just gave so much excellent material that we're forced to rank the less popular stuff.
You just blew my mind. Yesterday I held a quiz of sorts on a Fb "Beatles" group asking who liked that song and did not. That was after someone said that they thought that Octopus's Garden was the worst song the Beatles ever recorded. I had hundreds of replies, and MOST Beatle fanatics liked song, as I do. You just exposed the truth about it's musical quality ! Thank you. Listen to that lead guitar work. The intro grabs you...and then it just gets better.
Fantastic! Love it. Great playing!
Very nice - even got that second bend a little flat on purpose. Love that attention to detail
One of the best of George's guitar licks. Very cute tune.
George's contributions to Abbey Road, and I don't just mean his songs, are top tier. Overall, his guitar playing on that album was arguably his best. Fantastic cover!
The guitar in Octopus Garden is incredibly beautiful. I think more so than many of their songs.
You did a great job friend!
I've been trying to learn the intro for the longest time and some lead fills I was having trouble with. Watching your video really helped with the parts I was having trouble with. Thank you!
Thats really nice, man. Sounds perfect. Seeing it taken apart like this shows the amazing talent
the Beatles had to create new and unusual types of music. They sure werent stuck in a
"rocknroll" rut.
This is so spot on perfect. Tone, articulation and feel could not possibly be done any better. Just brilliantly performed.
I love this song so much. The harmonies are angelic and Harrison's guitar is incredible 😍. Brilliant cover, Sir!
Really spot on tone match for George's rig! Most accurate representation of that intro lick I've ever seen!
Wow! Such a beautiful strat, along with an absolutely spot on cover
Damn, the tone on that opening riff is SPOT ON. Very very very cool. Also, your George guitar replica is so groovy!
This was amazing to watch!! You really lived up to the title, felt like I was listening to the actual record
That was wonderfully played, shot and edited. Thank u 🙏🏻
This deserves more views, nice job man

your playing is great and your website is a gem, thanks for sharing man!
Wow you've made me re-appreciate a song I've known for decades
This is absolutely brilliant playing. Very enjoyable!
Very beautiful, thank you ! I'll now listen to the song with new ears !
The Beatles should have done more instrumentals, this just shows how good they were as musicians. Great work.
This is the best cover version of this song, well done!!
Tuned in to help learn this on guitar. You know its a masterclass when it makes you start singing before it makes you start playing.
A true talent of yours. With such a gift, you can become more than what you expect.
It's so perfect that I'm shocked.
Such joy!. A privilege to listen to. Thank You.
lived up to my expectations. fantastic job
Wow! So great! The guitar licks is so so superb, I wonder how this guy knows the pattern of such a very difficult Octopus Garden piece only George can master it!!!

The solo at 1:35 is a bop
So I finally picked up a guitar after almost 50 years. My short but exciting music career ended in the jungles of Southeast Asia. Before I left I sold my Les Paul, my amps, my pedals and mics. Now with grandkids old enough to know the difference I am getting my calluses back so they can hear Ol’ Man Rock. Best be starting at the Top with The Beatles. THANKS FOR POSTING.
Best cover I’ve ever heard
loved this. the gurgling background vocals.!
The happiest song ever written!
Not many people know this about me but I love the Beatles and you smashed it! Spot on!
Clicked bc of the rocky fender strat ❤️ such a perfect cover!
This is pretty sick, i love your guitars
Yeah, your playing skill is really perfect
I like both guitars so awesome sound👏🏼 John and George
That Strat looks gorgeous 🎸🔥
George harrison probably Would Love this ryflin.
That intro really shows the genius of the Beatles
absolutely perfect
Awesome job
Very nice from a hardcore Beatles fan aged 53 ( loved them since I was about 6).
Gave me chills. Man this guy can play!! Let’s set aside that what’s what and just enjoy the music. For most of us, The Beatles are the reason we picked up a guitar. Play the video again and just enjoy the warm and fuzzy feeling. Strat or not. But it’s definitely a Strat 😝
Whenever I feel down I listen to this song and I immediately feel so much better. There’s a reason Ringo was considered the “Happy Beatle.”
Absolutely perfect...nice one man...
Lol the creepy choir vocal sound 🤣 i love it!

Great little tune. Well played, and that Casino sounds delicious.

Brilliant! Fantastic job; bravo!!
Great job! In the movie Let It Be, George is helping Ringo put a sequence together on the piano for this tune.
That sounds great
Legend has it that only Legends ca still hear Ringo singing
Hard core Beatles fan, but I was never crazy about this Ringo tune until recently, when I noticed the (bottom of screen) guitar playing throughout the song. Just exquisite use of chord picking. Now that's all I can hear when the song plays. Hardly the most difficult playing, but pure George and pure beautiful.
@@huwdavies-phinney5799 I looked it up and it looks like you're right. Oh well. I'm a big fan of Lennon's guitar playing too. I thought he only worked on his own stuff by this point, mostly.
Congrats really well played bravo 👏
That was Perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks
I love that A modulation
This video helped me learn to play the song, thank you :)
Excellent!!!
Well played. Thank you!
Perfect Play is an under statement…Wow!
I clicked on this ready to mock the title because I didn't think it would actually be perfect, but this is about as perfect as a Beatles cover can get. Great job!
Almost perfect. He botched the very last bend.
@@SpaceCattttt That sounds perfect too to me.
@teppolundgren Likely not botched, as it sounds deliberate enough to count it as deliberate, and it sounds that way on the recording.
