- Fort Bennett is located in Black Rock, Tobago, overlooking Grafton Beach. The Fort was built by the Dutch between 1628 and 1636!
My name is Alan Charles (the Trini Surfer) and I am here to show you the beauty of my home country TRINIDAD and the rest of the world on my TRAVELS.
The fort then fell into the hands of the British in the 1800’s, and was again refortified to protect their claim to Tobago. The fort was mainly for military purposes when it protected sugar loading operations in the adjacent bay from American Privateers harassing the British during the American Revolution. Archaeologists suggest that the remnant walls can be found under the undulating surface of the fort, an indication of the constant reconstruction that took place in the wake of the numerous battles fought there. The signature cannons are still positioned safely in a recess near the entrance to the grounds, illustrating how the British battery may have originally looked. The turbulent history of the fort stands in stark contrast to the modern day serenity of this spot. A small gazebo sits on the end of the short winding and sloping path, offers shelter from the elements and a panoramic view of the bay.

Omg Black rock tobago. As a kid I use to jump off those rocks (drone footage). This use to my back yard growing up in tobago. My great grandfather was the biggest fisherman in Plymouth (Bejou). Great shot of black rock. Planning a visit this summer. Thank you

Good vibe Alan from You and your Missus.My first visit to Tobago was way back when 1964 I stayed for few days with a distant cousin Jean, married to Reggie Morshead who had a a coconut estate.What's new another English landlord ,who was making a go from fishing. My visit was brought short when migraine knocked me down and I had to return to Brechin Castle Caroni Ltd gated community .No fun those days. In July2004 the best China asked us where would we like to go on holiday this year?Barbados ?No way.Tobago for sure i told them.They were not disappointedWe stayed in a rented bungalow near the beach in Charlotteville. Brilliant holiday.
Charlotteville is am incredibly beautiful place and remains so to this day ! Sorry to hear of the migraine and other things that may of made your trip difficult 😣 but I assume once everything settled down, you had a fantastic experience with your loved ones

I use a combination of automatic and manual settings depending on what i am trying to achieve

Beaches are very much closed. You can fly there no problem but you can’t enjoy it to the fullest unfortunately 🥲🥲🥲

I thought I have seen most of Tobago (since I try to visit there every year), until I saw the episode with Fort Bennet. Funny, but I have been to both sides of that coast, Grafton & Turtle Beach.

BTW my favorite stay is at a place called Top O' Tobago located in Arnosvale.

I guess it is because you guys were not wearing masks, that why you were not allowed to go on the beach.
Unfortunately at the moment, there is no beach access in trinidad 🇹🇹 and Tobago regardless of masks 😷.
Since May 2021 we have "COVID-19 pandemic" restrictions here in T&T. We are arrested and charged if we are found on the beaches 😒.
