Hey Everyone, this video has been a long time in the making. I am happy to be back online after sometime and sharing with all of you. Hope you enjoy the video !
Thanks again for all your help, Mike! It was fun to hang with friends and also do this great collaboration build. There is a video on our channel of our meetup and roof rack build. Thanks for watching everybody!
Enjoyed hanging out at the festival and thanks for the plumbing advice. This is another great how to video for viewers and builders. Hope to catch up with you guys again soon. ☮️
Awesome video Michael 👍😊 glad to see you back posting and always fun to see Dean and Will helping 🌎 y’all make a very cool team, some great advice and fun adventures 🚌🎥🎶🌎❤️😎👍 thanks for sharing and safe travels
Its so funny seeing you all build this together when ive watched all your individual builds. I am almost done with my E-350 high top shuttle conversion.
Great, Mike!! If my Goal is a Deck on a Raised Roof Skoolie, should that Roof Raise be more reinforced than the usual process of raising it? Thanks, Mike!
Ohhh and Michael puts out a new video today also first was dean I see Dean is practicing to be a plumber 😁 do we need to bring some caulk for that crack 😁
Hey, why not make a simple air deflector to be bolted to the bus, in front of the roof deck to divert wind when going down the highway? Kinda like the mini air deflector on many 18 wheelers that deflects the wind going over the back trailer. Seems like it would be simple, fairly cheap and very effective?
Hey Michael long time you look well and the bus looks awesome as ever. The deck looks sweet. I really love the old Woody sides on that Bus do they have a TH-cam channel or Instagram
Damned, as a European I probably would have a hard time getting one of those busses, despite wanting one very much...then again, I can dream - right? As for what I would want? More solar (so that I can run basically any domestic house hardware on the bus if needed), a rooftop jacuzzi (that I can cover up so that if it isn't filled water will not accumulate in it and the cover should be durable enough to work as a rooftop-deck), stainless steel sinks (don't like ceramics all that much, steel is more durable and lighter), a shower (a build without one makes no sense IMHO), a pump with filters so I can get water from lakes and rivers if need be and not worry about it clogging up the system)...yeah...one can dream... nice build on your bus...still, I'd like more solar if it were mine :)
Good evening Sir, My name is Mo, I'm currently deploy and designing a skoolie project while sitting near my computer. I have a few questions. Where can one find videos on notes for how to design a Bus as Eco friendly as possible? Research on how to choose the best renewable materials? Where can one find aid in their Skoolie conversion project? Aid with knocking out some of my conflicting design concepts? Thank you, mo
Newer sub, love your channel! My wife and I are ready to sell our mansion and get a bus. If you hear of one available with a high roof, about 35ft long, in good shape with a preferable engine trans gear ratio let me know! Willing to pay a finders fee😉. We’re in utah currently, gonna sell the house, maybe buy some land in island park Idaho, full time bus life with maybe 3 months of the year in Thailand and culebra Puerto Rico. You, Will and Jax have been truly inspiring! Our budget is around $18k total doing all work myself. Keep up the buslife and TH-cam!
Hey, been following you for a while now and I ran into an issue. Howd you get insurance and who through? I'm having a really hard time with insurance cuz of the roof deck, most just say no right away :(
Cut the section of the roof out where you are wanting the deck, rebuild it as a flat steel structure. If you have to have wood look into how boat decks are done. Welds are structural and if done right they are weather proof
Wasn't that cool when they were on Rachael Ray!! They are one of my subs as well..This is great info. My Deck is already installed but it would be wise of me to have one of you guys give me some ideas if I may need more support...Looking forward to more vids from you. Fair Winds and Smiles and Bobs our Uncle and all that.
Don’t have any. 😅 Normally, unless they are removable or able to fold down they would be above legal height limits for driving. My personal bus has a strict 2 drink limit on the deck. 😂
can you send the dimensions for this deck plz...I have a mini skoolie (about 20ft aka 6 windows long) and I want to make one about half the length of this one...thanks
I'm n my 60's now and just designing a rig to drive Russia and Asia. I was always taught that something is only as strong as the weakest point. In this case a tin roof with spars. No point whatsoever to build out of 2x1" because it's over stressing a roof that was never designed to take that weight. In my mind you'd have been much much better of with a well thought out woden structure, screwed and bonded. Far less chance of the bus reacting badly through rough bends....
I was wondering that too..matter of fact I was wondering that about you until your post yesterday. Oh, my Post last night is taking off fairly well for a newbie. Check it out if ya can. "Don't Panic - Help Us Grow" fair winds and smiles.
@@navigationnowhere Good to hear it isn't true! So next vid will be you sharing with the rest of the class what you've figured out??? Great vid per usual. Thanks for sharing all your work.
Why people are placing so much weight on top of the bus, that is not ok, It is not design to hold so much weight on the roof, it's not made to walk over it or hold any kind of weight.
You really shouldn't compare decks with your friends. I mean what if theirs are bigger, or have a better shape, or are more rigid, or erected better. Lol.
Hey Everyone, this video has been a long time in the making. I am happy to be back online after sometime and sharing with all of you. Hope you enjoy the video !
Welcome Back Michael, you've been so missed!!
Well done.
Thank you!
Loved the video. Little house on the highway definitely got the number one deck out there.
Their bus gets better every time I see it.
Thanks again for all your help, Mike! It was fun to hang with friends and also do this great collaboration build. There is a video on our channel of our meetup and roof rack build. Thanks for watching everybody!
You have an awesome bus and can’t wait to hang out again. See you after the holidays!

Great job on this video and their roof deck.
It was a fun project and a great group of people to build with

Gosh, I want a bus just like yours!! (in white)... So there, I put it out in the Universe! Love your work and channel... subscribed!
Thanks ! A clean white looking bus would be awesome.
Hey there! Missed your face! Have a nice Christmas and holidays!
Thanks, I’ll be heading to see my family for the holidays. Pretty excited.
Great, Mike!! If my Goal is a Deck on a Raised Roof Skoolie, should that Roof Raise be more reinforced than the usual process of raising it? Thanks, Mike!
Did I miss it? HOW MUCH DID IT COST?
Ohhh and Michael puts out a new video today also first was dean
I see Dean is practicing to be a plumber 😁 do we need to bring some caulk for that crack 😁
Randy Lee my crack runs all the way to my neck!
Uncool Dean 😂
Hi Michael, How are you? Way the most of the roof decks are built on the rear of the bus? Does it have a special reason or it's only stetic?
I just bought a bus.....I am looking forward to building a deck on the roof....
I think rivet nuts would work well into the roof framing of the bus. It would give you some options for removal, adjustments.

you should modify it to where it can slide and make a shaded spot
I want to know about homeboys wood paneling...
Long time no see!
It has been a long time ! My next video will share where I have been but glad to be back 👍
Hi Michael, I've missed you! Good to see you again, just like Dean :D I hope that we get to see more of the both of you soon
Ok im looking for a way to do a deck that can hold 350bls all the time. Any ideal?
Hey Michael long time you look well and the bus looks awesome as ever. The deck looks sweet. I really love the old Woody sides on that Bus do they have a TH-cam channel or Instagram
Yes! They are little house on the hwy. i left a link for them in the description

I’m from NJ I was wondering how do I register a bus to a rv and what insurance company??

Cant get much for $18,000
If you find a 10 to 20 thousand $$$ bus ???
You will probably need to spend $50,000 to get it where you need it.

Hope we can get together soon bud .. I sure could use your help
I won't be back up north for a while but maybe next time I head that way
@@navigationnowhere so you ran from the cold ? Lol
@@markwilson8118 Yes this year i did haha
nice
I'd want a deck but I'd want more solar panels more

Where are your safety rails to help prevent anyone from falling off the top?
Don’t have any. 😅 Normally, unless they are removable or able to fold down they would be above legal height limits for driving. My personal bus has a strict 2 drink limit on the deck. 😂

Honestly, if I do deside to go with a bus build, I either have to pull my 12ft trailer, or build the bus so that I can park my Harley in it.
Want to just hire someone to build this for me
Can you drive the bus around legally?
Put a street light on the top
Solid idea

Yes, the next video will be the answer to all of life's questions or at least an attempt. haha
@@navigationnowhere can't wait! Hopefully you have really good ones, it'll be worth a fortune!!
Why people are placing so much weight on top of the bus, that is not ok, It is not design to hold so much weight on the roof, it's not made to walk over it or hold any kind of weight.
The decks are welded into the structural ribs of the bus. They are not really “on the roof” or attached to the sheet metal.
You had better hope your insurance company never see what you put up there on the roof. You'll be cancelled on the spot.
You really shouldn't compare decks with your friends. I mean what if theirs are bigger, or have a better shape, or are more rigid, or erected better. Lol.
