Watching this makes me realize I'm really just someone who has a glancing interest in grading, and actually know nothing at all 😂😂😂 most of that stuff flew over my head entirely. And as someone who was thinking of putting some money aside for one or two components in the toolkit(cos they 'look cool'), you actually explaining stuff made me say to myself "You got a LOT of work to do before you throw money at this stuff". Cos I'd literally use 2% of it. 😅 Thanks man!! I'll keep watching your stuff
Thanks so much I appreciate that!! And yes color grading is like painting there is thousands of tools to do the job, but you have to slowly find out your favorite ones and how to use them best!!
I can see Qazi getting upset that you are calling the false color "EL Zone" Ed Lachman has a pretty short leash on his patent. Not sure how he got a patent at all, but I am being told he charges quite a bit for people to use it. But in the end it is just false color using linear instead of IRE- I do see here that the middle grey above and below are one full stop - I believe the EL has 1/2 stops above and below - to really nail the skin exposures. Maybe the reverse engineering and not having the same stops or exact colors - makes this one unique. Good demo of it though. Nice to see a demo that doesn't sound like an infomercial. Good job.
Ah yes the infamous patent. Not sure why there has to be gatekeeping of such a good tool but hey people have to make money so how. It’s a tad bit different on Qazi’s tool so I’m sure he will be just fine but you are right if he saw it he would be mad about the way I described it lol.
I wish i could afford it is really amazing could only afford the charts
great video
Thanks!
