Ridiculous click bait take. With all the offseason departures, salary cap constraints this year is by far his best coaching performance. Must be a slow day for you :). Seriously you would gamble on a new coach by replacing one of the most successful coaches in the last 7 seasons.
To say he will get fired you have to have a reliable replacement, you do not bring in a potential Daboll. Vrabel is known but got fired for not winning and did not win in the playoffs and his best win year is what McCarthy did 3 years. If you look healthy you are good till 70, McCarthy is probably the best choice on the market.
While I DO agree with the premise that the playoff losses are more of an indictment on Sean and his defense, to put him on the hot seat after what he’s been able to achieve this year in a “rebuild” seems like content for content’s sake. This year is basically one big bonus round. Also- the Pegulas have to figure out the Sabres first before they take any potential chances with the Bills.
As a Bills fan from Buffalo I can confirm there is ZERO chance McDermott gets fired. He could get blown out in the first round to Denver and he’ll be back next year
That's the problem though. If we lost to Denver in the first round, Bills fans would be totally content because we made the playoffs and aren't what we used to be. Its such a loser mentality. If we don't win one Superbowl with Josh being in his prime, they do need to look at the coach.
McDermott would have taken way more heat after the loss of the Chiefs last year if Bass hadn’t missed that field goal. There was still a 1:50 left and Mahomes likely would’ve drove down the field and won it. He is a defensive minded coach that has consistently fallen short on defense four years in a row against elite quarterbacks in the playoffs. Colin is right.

As a Bills fan, Colin is right. Fans love McD because he's winning, but how long are you going to keep winning without winning a chip? With all that winning, comes higher expectations. AFC East titles were cool 4 years ago. The next generation of QB's are already making the post season. Things are going to get harder. Believe it or not, we only have Allen for another 6 or 7 seasons. McD has already waisted 3 or 4 elite seasons from Josh.
I understand these sports shows have to constantly come up with topics and things to fill time, but come on! Most sports fans can't think for themselves, and you guys aren't doing them any favors. There is a whole lot of cause and effect that could tank the bills by firing McDermott. He's built a system and a roster for 8 yrs. A new coach immediately starts dismantling that.
McDermott's problem in the playoffs has always been game management and decisions on when to go on 4th down vs. kicking FG's. He has blown some decisions which have cost the Bills.
Let’s be honest, McDermott has been living off of Josh Allen for most of his tenure in Buffalo… he can coach in the regular season, but McDermott clearly gets scared in the playoffs
Sean McDermott is not going to get fired. His owner loves him and wouldn't know what to do without him. Despite his faults, McDermott has brought this team out of the basement and made us a playoff team. He's not going anywhere.
You honestly think Terry Pegula would fire the man who made his team one of the most respected and most talked about team in the NFL! Laughing loudly out loud.
I’ve been a Bills fans for 30 years there not firing McDermott trust this guy ended an almost 20 year playoff droughtwith Tyrod as qb. We are in rebuilding year and have overachieved give Sean some credit
Elite? That would imply us making a Superbowl and that hasn't come close to happening. What will the excuse be this year if they can't get through KC? The refs, injuries, soft rebuild. He's running out of time and excuses with Josh playing his best football.
I read the title and thought it was just ignorant of reality. Marv Levy and Sean McDermott are the two most successful coaches the Bills have had. The sports predictors all thought that this was going to be a down year for the Bills after Diggs left the team. How wrong they were. The Bills with a game to go have already clinched the 2nd seed and can rest players this week if they choose.
The Bills defense should finally get to the postseason healthy. A defensive collapse with a healthy defense should put McD on the hot seat. The defense has not shown up in the playoffs.
He won't be fired. He will be the coach as long as Josh Allen is the quarterback. Imo, I think you could fire Mcdermott and hire someone else, and the Bills would still win 10+ games and make the playoffs because of Josh Allen.
Ridiculous! As a Bills fan, ...No matter what happens in the playoffs, we don't want McDermott going anywhere! Why would we want to START OVER at this point, ...and why would JOSH, ...OR ANYONE ELSE in that locker room want to START OVER?! The Bills def have the talent and the team to win it all, but if we dont, it will be because, either THE PLAYERS dont play well enough, or we simply face a team that does. Ditching the coach that has brought some of the greatest team chemistry the franchise has ever had would be moronic!
What has McDermott done. The offense has always scored. The defense always plays horrible in playoffs. Bad game day decisions have held us back for years. He was looking to be fired but hamlin got hurt. No bowls 8 years pretty bad.
They just extended him, he won 14 games in a year they were rebuilding and expecting to miss the playoffs, with a defense that lost 6 core pieces. Pegula isn’t firing him
I’m wondering who would replace McDermott? This team was in a “rebuild “ mode this season but somehow Buffalo owns the 2 seed ? Jets, Miami , Buffalo , New England! That was everybody’s choice for the east?
5:35 that’s fair. How about the coaching calling 40+ pass plays and giving Jo on the run. Every time they flop in the playoffs. Harbaugh is out coached when it matters.
The issue with Sean is his playoff history is not on his side while Josh has played great. Highlighted by defensive issues after defensive issues and Sean is a defensive coach. Is it entirely on Sean no but these playoff defensive lapses by his defense is damning.
Jets fan sees the Bills smack down the Jets and he is now calling for McDermott to get fired... I don't blame him... If I would be a Jets fan I would want the best coach in the division to be fired.
Maybe you should get fired? Seriously, did all you TV sports performers have a meeting to choose who dumps on the Bills each day until playoffs? Talking heads with empty brains. Clickbait. Go away.
I think Coach McDermott adds so much more to this team than he takes away. Ask Josh Allen if he wants a new HC. If Josh wants a new HC, then so be it. (It won't happen. The team has a solid winning culture.) I'm afraid the bath water without the baby would be extremely bad for this team. Yes, the topic is clickbait.

He’s not on the hot seat but he should be under a microscope. Josh Allen covers up a lot of flaws on this team and it helped that the division was trash. It would have made more sense to fire him before the rebuild. But the stars have aligned for the Bills to make another run.

@@Killthebatman87 it’s kinda crazy though. This buffalo storyline kinda remind me of the Mark Jackson coach led Golden State Warriors team where they would make the playoffs with Mark but doesn’t really go far as to where Steve Kerr have taken them
@ it means nothing. It means you had a chance & never got it done. (Probably never will) Congrats Allen will be best regular season QB. But Overall that means nothing to the Franchise or Fans. This is there year to make it to the SB if they don’t. The Coach has to go.
True but its not Mcdermont so much as Bran Bean , Bean is the builder of this team, McD Is so average (my opinion)
Keep same energy with Harbaough
Fr😂 dude said it’s no pressure on him because of his ring 13 years ago
i mean its not the same. its only harbaughs first year with the team, seans been in buffalo for 8 years, and he's a defensive head coach whose defense has fallen apart in the playoffs multiple times
Other Harbaugh buddy
Luckily Collins opinion doesn't mean shit.
Literally one of the greatest seasons in Bills history with less established talent than they have had in years. McDermott is not the best situationally, but as far as culture and overall coaching he is elite!!
The logical question is : Would fans rather have winning seasons or risk getting worse by changing coaches? Sometimes people think the grass is greener on the other side. I guess that is why so many people are addicted to lottery tickets....
Ridiculous click bait take. With all the offseason departures, salary cap constraints this year is by far his best coaching performance. Must be a slow day for you :). Seriously you would gamble on a new coach by replacing one of the most successful coaches in the last 7 seasons.
Did you watch the video or just read the headline? If he losses in the first round he most certainly will be on the hot seat and should be
To say he will get fired you have to have a reliable replacement, you do not bring in a potential Daboll. Vrabel is known but got fired for not winning and did not win in the playoffs and his best win year is what McCarthy did 3 years. If you look healthy you are good till 70, McCarthy is probably the best choice on the market.
running out of content I see?
While I DO agree with the premise that the playoff losses are more of an indictment on Sean and his defense, to put him on the hot seat after what he’s been able to achieve this year in a “rebuild” seems like content for content’s sake. This year is basically one big bonus round. Also- the Pegulas have to figure out the Sabres first before they take any potential chances with the Bills.
Exactly, and with the new stadium next year there is zero chance they risk taking a step back
I don’t see McDermott getting fired if they lose. He’s the best coach we have had in 20 years.
Bill Cowher was the coach of the Steelers for years before he won a Super Bowl. McDermott is a great head coach. His time will come.
Lol no it won't
under the old playoff seating Buffalo would have won a superbowl by now! #2 seat should still get a bye!
If the Bills lose to the Broncos or Fins in the WC, McDermott is gone the next day.
never
Bills won’t lose to the Fins lol
Allen should get some blame too.
@Dimezprod absolutely not. Allen plays amazing in the playoffs
how can someone who sealed the first playoff spot be on the hot seat 😂😂😂 i clicked it just to comment this and im not gonna watch 😂
Sean isn't going anywhere. He has brought us to the playoffs every year. We will get that Lombardi.❤ Go Bills! JA17=MVP.
I agree with Colin. The only thing is, Pegula will never fire Sean. Unless he goes 2 -15 for a couple of seasons in a row. And that ain't happening.
McDermott on the hot seat is nasty work 😅
Hot seat? His team is 13-3 lmao
Sean McDermott is not on the hot seat no matter what happens in the playoffs lol
Josh Allen did not loose the 13 second game, the defense did! CH you are wrong. You are also one of his haters when he entered the league, so you are constantly looking for ways to dis the man.
McDermott writes his own ticket in buffalo . He came out of a 17 year drought . His team this year wasn’t expected to win . McDermott is our mike Tomlin . No body is calling buffalo hoping for this job opening . He will leave us before we leave him . Go bills
Sean is safe based on buffalo being in hockey heaven. So when the GM of the hockey club has a press conference and afterwards the team tanks for countless games believe me Sean's job is more than safe.
McDermott might win the Coach of the year... But he is in the hot seat... Jets fans agree.
Top 10 winningest coaches with 120 games 1. Madden 2. Lombardi 3. George allen 4. Ray Flaherty 5. George Halas 6. Don Shula 7. Paul Brown 8. Tony Dungy 9. Sean Mcdermott 10. Andy Reid 11. George Seifert 12. Bill Belichick. and all ahead of Mcdermott HOF for some superbowls in Season 8 remember Reid took 20 years for a Super Bowl Billy B took 17 years. MCD is not in the hot seat
Andy Reid: AP Coach of the Year
Franchise record 15(16?)-win season.
9th Straight AFC West Banners
299 career wins (300 if the Chiefs beat the Broncos)
143 wins with Chiefs (12-win regular season average over 12 seasons with a win vs Broncos)
Never recognized as AP Coach of the Year as the Chiefs' head coach
Put his team in position to play in their 7th STRAIGHT AFC Championship Game, win a 5th Lamar Hunt Trophy, a 3rd straight Lombardi Trophy, and a 4th Lombardi in the last 6 years.
Colin is right. If the defense stops allen from winning a chip again, Mcdermott has to go.
Buffalo is one and done if Cincinnati gets that 7 seed
But Cincinnati is significantly worse than Buffalo
An 8-8 team what are you smoking
lmao
True facts! This scenario would be Buffalo's worst nightmare :) Definitely wont be winning the Supper Bowl. Have to go thru Cinny, Baltimore and KC. Then beat the best team in the NFC. Yea save me on that one :)
Allen will put up at least 50 on the Bengals defense
Cowherd loves to stir up garbage about coaches Sean has a good group and team now and are heading to the playoffs he shovels more BULL THAN NICK WRIGHT
Colin probably has a good friend that wants to coach the Bills.
No, No he is not
Total agree.. It's all on that coaching staff.. Need to get to a super bowl
Sean has done a ELITE job with this team, y'all need to stop this crap.
Ohhhhh my Buffalo fans just ignore. I hear the same shit with Sirianni every week from these dudes. Love em but it gets old af.
Pegula isn’t firing him
The thing with Collin is he has to cover the whole league. So he doesn’t actually know what he’s talking about. He kind of knows.
I’m wondering who would replace McDermott? This team was in a “rebuild “ mode this season but somehow Buffalo owns the 2 seed ? Jets, Miami , Buffalo , New England! That was everybody’s choice for the east?
Ben Johnson!!!!!!
5:35 that’s fair. How about the coaching calling 40+ pass plays and giving Jo on the run. Every time they flop in the playoffs. Harbaugh is out coached when it matters.
Purdy got a 96.2 passer rating in the playoffs is he elite now
The issue with Sean is his playoff history is not on his side while Josh has played great.
Already having a built in excuse/ fall guy for Josh Allen before the playoffs even start is insane. But it’s all on Lamar if he loses ? 😂😂
Allen has been prolific in the playoffs, NFL record setting performances. Defense and clock management has been the reason for every loss besides the AFC championship game in KC.
@ i don’t give a f bro. Can’t say a player is protected from blame before the playoffs even start. We literally haven’t even seen the games yet, the past is irrelevant. This take was crazy
@@ghostface3652no it is isn’t you just don’t like the truth. Lamar is awful in the playoffs. Allen isn’t. It’s very simple.
@ brother I don’t care for either of them but If you don’t win a ring it’s coming up short. You can throw all the stats you want to
@@ghostface3652 football is a team game. Lamar is part of the blame for losing because he doesn’t play good enough. Allen is not part of the blame because he does play amazing
Realistically, who could even replace him? McDermott is fine...
This has been thrown around quite a bit in the Bills community but it just doesn’t make sense. Look at his performance objectively. He’s done well. There are maybe 4-5 guys out there that I may choose over him but they aren’t available.
McDermott in the hot seat? That's a take so hot I'm thinking your brain is burnt.
It’s not going to happen. Ownership loves McDermott.
Like Colin's takes usually...but just clueless here. The Bills have won more games over the past 5 years than any other NFL team. McD is going nowhere.
Not true.
This was supposed to be the rebuilding year for Buffalo. The goal was next year's draft.
This gets talked about every year.
WHO? Who would be an upgrade over McDermott?
Who are you hiring that will maintain this level of success, and get the team over the SB hump?
Outside of trading for another top head coach, this feels like a pointless conversation.
Sean gave Terry Pegula a game ball a few weeks ago , Terry told him I want trophy.!
Bills lose in round one. Fire McDermott and then hire.. who exactly?? Fire a guy that wins the division every year.
Belichick, who has a buyout prior to next season for this exact scenario.
How many teams have they coached? Sean is the man.
Sean is currently a defensive assistant at William & Mary without Josh Allen
McDermott should have been fired last year. The minute Harbaugh and Belichick were available they should have upgraded to either of them. Now Allen has to win it all despite McDermott
@@MrSharper802 neither of them is an upgrade
@bernooski5128 lol...10 combined SuperBowl appearances and a college national championship compared to 1 AFC Championship game loss...
@MrSharper802 "combined" meaning one guy has 1 and the other has 9. Belichick is the most overrated coach in NFL history and I wouldn't trade away our punter to get that bum as head coach. Harbaugh hasn't done anything without cheating in the last 8 years
@bernooski5128 If 9 SuperBowl appearances with the best QB in NFL history is overrated, what is one AFC Championship loss with the best QB in franchise history?? Go ahead keep defending this loser HC. Tell me how he ended the drought by starting Nathan Pererman at the LA Chargers! Do you need to call a defensive TO to gather your thoughts? Allen wins 13 games with 25 of the current Head Coaches.
@MrSharper802 Brady isn't just the best qb in the nfl. He's the best team sports player in human history, in sports most important position. A decent coach would have won more
Wait wtf are we talking about here? Lol 😂 why is this even a conversation going into week 18 at 13-3 🤣🤦🏻♂️
He’s not on the hot seat but he should be under a microscope. Josh Allen covers up a lot of flaws on this team and it helped that the division was trash. It would have made more sense to fire him before the rebuild. But the stars have aligned for the Bills to make another run.
Even if McDermott loses in first rd (doubt it) he deserves an extension picked to be last in division and secures 2nd seed with one game left!! That’s phenomenal! McDermott needs to retire in Buffalo!!! Plz football gods!
Give us a ring already! 😂😂
Colin is actually so dumb. He sounds like a casual fan there is no substance or logic to his takes ever. McDermott isn’t going anywhere.
McCarthy to the Bears? 👀 As a Bears fan, I wouldn’t be too thrilled but the Bears need a proven guy if it’s not Ben Johnson.
And who are they going to get??? This is a reset year, and the Bills have a new stadium next year. There is a 0% chance Sean is fired after this year. MAYBE next year when there are actual expectations on the team. No way this year.
Belichick has a clause in his UNC contact that gives him a buyout option prior to June, 2025, so if Sean gets fired in February for example, Bill would take the buyout in a second and the job in a even shorter second.
@@bondsgoat25 but that's not a sure upgrade, it's a risk. Bill was great because he built the team as GM and coach, we don't know that he would be better with this team, or in the era, or without Brady. Allen is great but a totally different style than Brady.
