It's weird, a lot of people say music like this is relaxing or romantic? But for me it always just makes me melancholic and sentimental. I get reminded that I'm missing out in life, or I have lots of memories that make me want nothing more than to go back to the past. 💔

I too have been struggling with the idea that I should be in a better place in life right now and that I'm missing out on something, but I hope that feeling in you does not last. It helps me to remember that I am not inherently missing out on anything right now, because my life is happening right now, and as long as I remember that I have this "right now" moment, I have the opportunity it fill it with compassion for myself and love for the beautiful person I have become.
      I hope you are well!

I remember listening to this album with my older brother, Sean. Back in 2009 or so. This music reaches a part of me that I so often forget. I time in my life where I had very few responsibilities. Very care-free and admittedly bored. My brother and I would just lay there, staring up at the ceiling and relaxing, drowning out the sounds of our parents’ arguing. That’s the tone this music gives me, drowning out the true problems in life while naively and blissfully soaking up the lull of the day. I miss those times. If you’re reading this and you’re still young, try your best not to take for granted the days of your youth during which you have so much time on your hands.

Weird feeling like 2005 was back when things were simple. When minimalist instrumental post-rock was a fresh thing. Best tracks on this album IMO are 1, 2, 3, 7, and 8. Thank your El Ten Eleven for making this.

After having been utterly obsessed with this jetliner since quite a young age, and after having explored the genre of post-rock since 2014, I am genuinely shocked that it took as long as it did for me to find this music.

I listened to this entire album while reading a short story called "UFO In kushiro" by Haruki Murakami (one of my favorite authors) I finished the book with one song to go, so it was the perfect adventure and ending to give me time to let the meaning of the book and album sink in. The story follows a man named Komura who after his wife suddenly divorces him he travels to a foreign place to deliver a package to his sister that his boss gives him, which the package ends up being empty almost as a metaphor for his fleeting self, the light inside him that is threatened and he's trying to make sense of.
This album gives me the same feeling that book did and it's a beautiful fleeting feeling of who we are

Interesting you would relate Murakami's story to music. He is greatly influenced by music. Maybe you know that. He wakes early, starts writing, always listening to music. A methodical disciplined approach. Music runs throughout his stories. There is a wonderful documentary Dreaming Murakami. Also excellent films based on his novels. My favorites: Burning, Norwegian Wood, and Drive My car.

Wish I could thumbs up this album every time I listen. It would have 15 more thumbs by now.
My current favorite track is Connie at 27:48. Kristian Dunn (Guitar/Bass) said at their October 2016 show at the Music Box in San Diego that it was about a relationship where he got his heart broken. It builds and builds, then dies out kinda one-sidedly. He said it was ultimately for the best.
Bye Mom at 34:11 must be about Mom dying suddenly. Just bopping along enjoying it, then crack, song over. Unnerving.

A good melody is one that makes you think deeply about the meaning of everything. Sometimes we would like to analyze the reason we love something or care about something. Sometimes you just have to stop and pretend that you don't give a buck about a thing. Then you listen to this masterpiece album and appreciate the wonder and nonsense of having hearing senses to appreciate life as it is.....
