For the last several years, I have been conducting some intense Elvis research. I have tons of questions and would really appreciate your opinion as an expert. My first question is about Elvis' birth certificate. Even casual fans know his middle name was spelled with one "A" on his original birth certificate. But few realize there is a revised birth certificate stamped December 1953 with his middle name spelled with two "A"s (Aaron). An image of the revised certificate can be found on various places on the internet. Do you know anything abut this revised December 1953 birth certificate? Is it real? Who requested it from the government of Mississippi in 1953? In regards to the original birth certificate, Dr. Hunt's ledger recording the birth has two "A"s in Aaron and misspells Elvis as "Evis". How did the alterations in the spelling of both the first and middle name occur between the ledger and the birth certificate? I appreciate any information you may be able to provide.

Hello and thank you for reaching out. Sorry about my very late reply. Your message is great and it’s always awesome to chat with someone who has done some deep research on my favourite topic….. ELVIS!! In all my years of the Aaron spelling in Elvis’ name it had definitely become a wonderful talking piece. I have come across mention of a second birth certificate but I completely dismiss it as just another piece in the Elvis middle name puzzle. My countless years of digging through Elvis articles, books, interviews and statements from the inner Presley team, I’m inclined to say it’s a fake due to little information it holds. Elvis did prefer the double A spelling around 1966, and the one document he does sign is his divorce papers in court. No one ever speaks of this but it’s the one signature that has both A’s and that was done in a court of law. Question…. Did Elvis ever have his middle name corrected legally by name change, probably not. He was named after Vernon’s friend Aaron Kennedy (so the story goes). Did Vernon misspell his son’s name on his grave headstone, oh my goodness give me a break, of course he didn’t. I always like to go back to the divorce documents because that’s written proof in Elvis’ own handwriting. Great chat mate and I’m sure we could talk for hours.
