They do their own choreography. They met in school about 8 years ago but they recently signed with 88Rising an American agency that promotes Asian music acts in the US. They just appeared on Jimmy Kimmel's show. Their song "Pineapple Kryptonite" was produced by Money Mark, the keyboard player who collaborated with the Beastie Boys. Very creative group.
They were formed in 2015, so they would all have still been in school, but they are from different places and so did not go to the same schools. They were brought together by the Asobisystem Agency.
I have no interest in pop but find myself loving everything these young women do. Great music, choreography, incredible live, tackle important issues and funny as hell to boot. Their on3 take performance of Otuna Blue is already pretty iconic and a massive hit.
I will have to check it out. Having strong personality is big for me in music and they have alot of it. I'm super excited to start my journey listening to all their music!
I just found Atarashii Gakko about 2 months ago my current favorite of theirs is "Night Before The Exam" single take. Please react to this if possible. Thanks
You're right that the couple are hiding their relationship, but it's because it's an illicit one between a teacher and a student. Koi Geba means Love Rebel and some of the lyrics and the images of the video describe the unequal power dynamic in the secret and inappropriate relationship between a student and a teacher and the student's feelings and confusion. AG once again tackle a difficult subject. Next I'd recommend "Mayoeba Toutoshi" th-cam.com/video/XqrNAnsWFQs/w-d-xo.html and the final three songs from their recent Brooklyn concert th-cam.com/video/LHJQ6ZL9Ak8/w-d-xo.html
