www.depave.org -- Learn how to depave your driveway and turn it into a garden in this DIY video series produced by the folks at Depave in Portland, Oregon. In this video, Depave volunteer Josh Cabot teaches us how to test how quickly our soil drains.
Other videos in the series include learning how to use a power stone cutting saw to what types of plants do best in your new driveway garden.
Paved surfaces contribute to stormwater pollution, whereby rainwater carries toxic urban pollutants to local streams and rivers, greatly degrading water quality and riparian habitats. Pavement also disconnects us from our natural world.
The goal of Depave projects is the removal of impervious pavements thereby reducing stormwater pollution and increasing the amount of land available for habitat restoration, urban farming, trees, native vegetation, and beauty, thus providing us with greater connections to the natural world.
