I visited Sofia, Bulgaria last year and spoke with people there who lived through Communism and the older generation have the same things to say about Communism, they respected it and want it to return , whereas the younger generation have the opposite views.Hope to visit Bucharest soon.
I'd love to see more videos of Bucharest. I worked at the US Embassy 1988 and 1989. Left a few months before the revolution. Place was a S#!^ hole. Gas line was usually about 5Km long. Lines for food. People would not look you in the eye walking down the street as they were afraid you were Securitate. Gas and electric would be randomly shut off at night. Old grandmas were used to clear snow from the streets with shovels, brooms, and wheelbarrows. We would be tailed almost everywhere we went. Read the book Red Horizons, Ceaușescu's right hand man defected and wrote it. Hopefully someday I can make it back there.
