GLACIERS

Part of the Lunar series devoted to exploring the links between our own landscapes and those of our closest celestial neighbours. Glacier is an imagined landscape based from my studies of Icelandic glaciers and lunar surfaces. It struck me how similar some of the earth's landcsapes are to the moon, both in form and composition. Here an eerie gold light highlights an expansive glacial mountain range set in front of the blackest of black nights, hovering as if suspended in space.
This artwork is actually painted backwards onto a large, custom acrylic disk so that it has an instant glossy finish which is then mounted onto a large custom black frame.
