As a Milanista who married into a family of Liverpool supporters - our clubs have history from the two CL finals, but it's a history with a lot of mutual respect on both sides. Most fellow Milanisti I know hold Liverpool in high regard and vice versa. Regardless - nobody should ever go to the football and not go home. JFT97
Liverpool born and raised. this video has made me so proud to be a liverpool football fan. the way that in another country, they stop the game at the exact time of it happening and milan fans take the time to learn our song is amazing. Thank you so much Milan, it means the world to our fans and families of the 96, god bless you all Y.N.W.A
Respect to all Milan fans for this tribute to those who died in Hillsborough. I'm not a Milan fan, but they certainly earned my respect with this grand gesture. Let us wish, that a tragedy such as the one in Hillsborough will never happen again. Forza Milan! Forza Liverpool! Forza St. Pauli! You'll never walk alone!
I have only just seen this for the first time. What a beautiful and thoughtful tribute from an amazing bunch of fans. I think I will always support these two teams from now on, Thank you. A Liverpool supporter.
I have only just heard about this, and to see this video as a Liverpool fan is very moving. A fantastic tribute that speaks volumes about the fans who organised it. To take the time to share in the grief of those who tragically lost loved ones in the Hillsborough disaster with a show of such solidarity simply demands respect. AC Milan's fans will always have my utmost respect for this. Forza Milan!
This is why AC Milan are my second team after the mighty reds... What a match up the AC Milan and Liverpool teams of the late 1980s would of been if we hadn't been banned...Forza Milan...
Proud to be an AC Milan fan. Such a memorable moment. I've always respected Liverpool, especially after the Istanbul final. It really was destiny that brought us Istanbul 2005 and Athens 2007. Probably the two greatest teams in the history of soccer.
That is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I'd heard about this tribute but had never seen it. Watching it brings tears to my eyes every time. Thank you Milan.
Been reminded of this event tonight, this is truly one of the most beautiful events in footballing history. Beyond the prestige, the money, the tribal vitriol, it's a game loved the world over. To recognise the loss and suffering of people who love the sport as much as you do, Madrid and Milan fans show how positive this sport can be.
this scene sends shiver down my spine. In the face of tragedy, this compassion just higlights strength and solidarity among all. Thank you Milan fans. YNWA! JFT96
All due respect to AC Milan, Real Madrid and their's supporeters for this gesture, you guys will never ever walk alone... shows you that football fanatics of the biggest 3 clubs in Europe know how to appreciate each others well... grazie Milan, Real... You'll Never Walk alone
Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic, and an example to football fans the world over that even though the game is our life, that we all love our teams and hate our rivals, we're all the same. Thank you, Milan fans.
thank you, i know i speak for every liverpool supporter when I say that this gesture from the Milan and Madrid supporters means so much to everyone connected to Liverpool Football Club and it will never be forgotten! Ringraziarla così molto. l'amiamo. Lei non camminerà mai solo. Gracias tanto. nosotros le adoramos. Usted nunca andará sólo. YNWA-96
I have tears rolling down my face. Thank you @Nezik_Keshto for bringing this to the attention of so many LFC fans who had not heard of this beautiful mark of respect. If I had known at the time, I think I would have also been a supporter of AC Milan for 20+ years by now! Grazie!
I am very proud to be a Milan fan. They are very classy in these situations, like recently with Antonio's death and their game against Sevilla. They even offered not to play for the Supercup if that's what Sevilla wished and Milan wore Antonio's name on their jerseys. It is nice to see an earlier Milan pay respects to a very, very tragic football event in Liverpool.
...I was at the Liverpool / Nottingham Forest semi final in 1989........this gesture was something of an urban legend...........I'd heard about it.......but never witnessed it with my own eyes until I saw it here.......one of the most moving things I have ever seen...... it is phenomenal that a minutes silence was held in such a way... & in such an important game........ but........ the bit that makes me emotional is the gradual rising of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' from the back of the stands....
A beautiful tribute to the 96. To stop a game in the middle (6 minutes in, same time as the tradegy is beautiful) the YNWA at the end brough a tear to my eye.
A tribute from one great footbal team, and their supporters to another great football team and their supporters... In doing what they did Milan showed they are a class act. God bless Milan,,and god bless Liverpool.
Bravo Milan e Bravi i tifosi del Milan. Bruno Pizzul didn't comment on the wonderful tribute paid by the "Fossa dei Lioni" when they sang "You'll never walk alone" ...... but everybody heard it. Civediamo in Champions League l'anno prossimo. MILAN e' GRANDE ! From a Liverpool fan a Santarcangelo di Romagna.
I remember this game on Sportsnight and thinking what an unbelieveable tribute from 2 of the best teams in the world at the time. It also served to confirm what a terrible event it was at Hillsborough. I recall the 1989 season well as my team, Colchester had a pretty good run to the 5th round. As a 13 year old kid i dreamed we would play Liverpool in the final. I watched with great sadness yesterday the memorial service from Anfield and realised how much our game has changed. RIP 96
ye nice, very very nice indeed! i seen this video many many times,i was at hillsborough, people died 5meters in front of me,people died 5metres behind me,i was very lucky that day and even to this day i can not believe what happened,i was at heysel 4years before that!! RIP 96 RIP 39
I remember bursting into tears when I watched this almost 20 years ago. A stunning tribute to the global brotherhood that connects football fans, in spite of all the rivalry and occasional violence. Nothing compares to it, and nothing any politicians have ever done can bring the world closer together than football's global fan culture. One can't help but think that if Americans understood and shared this, the world would be a better place.
Here 2 Great European football teams stand side by side to share the moment of respect for another great teams lost followers. RIP those who went away that horrible saturday. God bless them all.
Baresi, Maldini,Costacurta,Rijkard,Gullit & Van Basten, i'm glad such an epic team had such great fans.Antoniloli was their goalkeeper..he is still playing! I am a sampdoria fan.
Liverpool fans have always appreciated the classy tribute shown by the Rossoneri fans... it goes to prove that despite our differences on the pitch we all share a common human bond. Thank you Milan fans. Google "Liverpool FC: 10 Things That Make the Club Great" YNWA
AC Milan fans, in the days following the disaster, printed off song sheets with the words to You'll Never Walk Alone and handed them out amongst their support with a plea to learn them for the next home game, only 4 days after the disaster. A gesture was planned to stop the game at 3.06pm (the time of the game being stopped at Hillsborough) and hold a minutes silence.
Well done AC Milan and Madrid, especially the Milan fans......just one question, was the silence held half-way through the match ? (i say this, as the players normally stand around the centre-circle, not scattered around the pitch)
The reason why it was held during the game was that when the Hillsborough Disaster happened the referee in that game blew the whistle after six minutes of play, therefore the minute of silence was held six minutes into this game as well.
For 25 years on every 14.05. Curva Sud sing this song in honor for the victims, for that 96. So was last night. I'm proud to be milanista!
as you should
