I love my Magura's! Dead easy to maintain and hugely reliable in any weather and/or environment, as opposed to disc brakes from various manufacturers that, even though providing huge stopping power, would always squeak driving me insane. Upgraded my 13yrs old 100% functional HS11 to HS33 today, couldn't be happier.
Disc brakes on a bike is ludacris.... . It smells like tuning cars: I think it stinks. I have Magura brakes on my Merida Cross bike (2009): apart from replacing the pads I haven't done any maintenance and yet...after 11 years still in good working order.
I am aware this is only a guide, however HS11 are different at the brake pad hydraulic part and I feel this video skips over the screw tightening part before being able to align the pads directly flush with the rim, it took me a while using the HS11 to figure out the thumb operated alignment tabs but I got there in the end and credit where it's due they are amazingly easy to align, setup and to a certain degree install. I believe I have correctly installed a rear HS11 today and it appears to operate perfectly I am glad they made a v brake solution for hydraulic brakes.

Could you please help me understand what are the tabs that you are talking about? It feels like my HS11 brakes aren’t actually compatible with 19 mm rims. I always have to much clearance.
@@ac-yt4yj I moved on to the promax hydraulic rim brake. I gave up on Magura due to the cost and the cost of brexit when ordering from overseas. I can't help but from memory I just installed it the best way I could then fully tested the sharpness and give with some light cycling before hitting hills.
Your sentence about thumb operated alignment parts sounds like you got the Easy mount instead of the Evo2. HS11 and 33 are both available with both mounting systems, so that might have been the difference.

Also note that a disc brake has significantly more power than a rim brake.
@@MAGURAPassionPeople That is why, it has TOO MUCH power. The Netherlands is flat as a pancake, but pretty wet. So easy to slip with the amount of brake power.
i just purchased these and they make an awful sound whenever i press down on my brake lever, any ways to get rid of it ? It also rattles my whole bike whenever i use the brakes.
This certainly isn't everything I needed to know! At 1:54 "both adapters should be placed on the other side using the locking screw" means what exactly? Too many references to "the screw" while not showing whichever screw they mean in the film. The American stresses the wrong words in the dialogue, because he is just reading some script he doesn't understand. The video refers to adjusting "the screws" (which?) while showing only the rubber brake blocks! This is an amateurish and poorly made video indeed. The camera angles used e.g. when the caliper is slotted on to the easy-fit screws, shows none of the essential detail, just a general long shot from the side. Is it too much trouble to get a knowledgeable English speaking mechanic to talk us through the procedure, where each stage is CLEARLY shown while he describes every step? Ideally, without the jargon, and with a mechanic who doesn't have a serious distracting tremor. This is almost as crappy as their PDF manual, where the images are miles from the relevant text and the same part numbers are repeatedly used for any number of different parts.
You're so right. Moreover both sides are not symmetrical: the lever is only on the right side of the brake system....The video gives (at least me) the impression both sides are identical..Pffff.
There is only one screw on each side, so if you can't work out what screw he's referring to I recommend that you take your bike to the LBS instead of doing this yourself
In general: yes. It depends if the bike has Cantilever mounts and if the rim and tire combo aren't too slim or wide. You can check all of that in the HS manual, it's on page 13: www.magura.com/media/922400/hs_2017_en.pdf Feel free to send us a message on Facebook or Instagram if you have any additional questions.
It is the worst braking systems I have used . It is requires frequent maintenance, it's need bleed every month and wears out quickly. I recommend Shimano disc brake
Please always feel free to contact us if you have any questions or problems with your magura brake. If bled, mounted and maintained properly, our HS rim brakes definitely do not require regular bleeding.
@MustafaHussein-tf2sy I'm talking about Magura rim brake after long experience, I warn you : Do not buy a bike has a curse called (Magura HS rim brakes series), which require difficult, complex, and very expensive regular maintenance every two months. In addition, the rim wears down and breaks due to the friction between the rim and Magura HS rim brake pads. Shimano roller brakes and Shimano disc brakes are better than Magura rim brake. Piece of advice: If your bike Speed restricted with 25 km/h under Europe union law, the best option is (Shimano roller brake) It's never requires maintenance, and It will give you powerful braking. Don't buy any bike has Magura rim brake HS series it's a Troy Horse to loot your money buying expensive, fragile parts brake pads price is € 30,oo ,every single screw price is €15,oo ,etc... in addition to the complex and difficult maintenance, even for a bicycle maintenance specialist while you can buy the best whole disc brake system set from Shimano at a price of 30€ to 40€ I have a bike with Shimano disc brake which has a long life and easy to maintain for example: disc brake pads have longer life, and to replace brake pads, all I have to do is just pull out one nail, but in Magura HS rim brake series, it's too difficult to replace brake pads, even the bike specialist can't give you good results In addition, in Magura HS rim brake , when new brake pads are slightly worn after one week of installation, the stroke of the brake lever becomes too long, which leads to damage the gare shifter on the bike's handlebar and other parts, when you try to fix this problem by tightening the EBT screw you will make things worse, leading to brake system failure,You will need to bleed it again, which is very expensive, etc problems of Magura HS rimbrakes series.
Now I don't trust the video about how to shorten the hydraulic guide. I'm sure I'll encounter trouble while doing so, if the video is from the same series.
I bought a pair of brakes after watching this video. Everything seemed so easy, at this very moment I'm trying to install the brakes and this video isn't helpful at all. What a piece of garbage, it doesn't show the other side of the brake, doesn't deals with how to adjust or what is the purpose of the silver lever. What a POS.
