Buddy I’m traveling 11 years back! Is there anything you haven’t reviewed?? It’s 2023 and I’m buying my first MAC Paint Pot 😆 You’re simply the best!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for telling us which skin tone the paint pots are best for. I always appreciate you assuring me that mature gals can wear a bit of shimmer. I 'm entering that age bracket and have switched to mainly matte eye colors but a girl has to add a touch of shimmer every now and then! I'm just so appreciative of your insights, which are just leaps ahead of the typical "guru."
I've got Soft Ochre & Painterly & love them both. They look amazing under shadows & make blending easier due to their finish. They're also both very opaque. Soft Ochre is more yellow based & Painterly is more pink toned. But they both work really well on my own skin tone. Hyperviolet is GORGEOUS! I took home a rather large sample & went back to buy bc it's so pigmented & rich. Doubles as a beautiful liner.
I love MAC paint pots. As Wayne says, the shimmery ones are a little trickier than the matt ones but still very good. If you have dry eyelids you can also try the MAC paint tubes, which are a little softer and easier to work with. Although you don't get as much product with those (but they don't dry as easily in the container).
I use Mac paint pot as a colour corrector all over my face, eyeshadow base and spot concealer. The trick is to use little amounts and pat gently with fingertips, to melt into the skin. Applying with a brush especially on the face can make it crease.xx from Australia
I love paint pots too, in fact I love cream eyeshadows generally. Something I have found that helps stop cream products in a jar from drying out is to place a doubled piece of plastic cling wrap over the jar & then screw the lid on. The plastic doesn't interfere with the threads on the jar. I have been using plastic food wrap on my cream products in a jar for about 6 or 7 years & I have never had a cream product dry up on me. I hope my tip helps someone else :)
i use painterly almost every day, i even use it on a short shading brush to brighten the water line, as fleshtone eye liners seem to be slipping from my watery eyes, and my sensitive eyes have never had a problem with that so far. i love your positive attitude, cheers!
I am very fair skinned (NC15) and the Painterly paint pot works perfect as an everyday primer for me! This is one of the only ones I've found that works well with my skin tone. :) I love this product also. I have hooded eye shape and it doesn't cake up along the eye crease like some other products do that I've tried.
Hi. I happened to see your comment here about the paint pots drying out. Just wanted to share with you that I've had great success by taking a creamy lotion or moisturizer and just swirling it over the top area of the product. You have to repeat it every few weeks, and you can't mix it into the whole pot. Just the top portion. This works great for me. Give it a go.
I absolutely love Paint Pots too. They're great on their own, but also great under eyeshadow, and some colours are proving to be especially good under the new MAC Extra Dimension eyeshadows
I love MAC paint pots, so easy to work with some of my fav combinations are vintage selection with constructivist in the crease, also for an added pop, putting tan pigment over vintage selection! So many of my brides love this combo. I also love rubenesque with quite natural in the crease and again for more of a pop melon pigment over the top of rubenesque!
You are most welcome, I am pleased my tip can help someone else. I don't change the cling film very often, maybe every few months or so? I do have a lot of cream products in jars & I tend to change all of them at the same time (a mini weekend cleanup project lol). Do remember when you are using a gel product (any cream product that won't run) to turn the jar upside down on the cling film when you have the lid off. It is just an extra precaution against air getting into the jar :)
Hey I went to mac yesterday and the artist there told me you can use them on their own OR as a primer under shadow... she said the best one for use as a primer is bare study (for light skin) because it is the one that's generally going to naturally brighten the eye up and not 'compete' with other colours if you want to use other shadows. Hope this helped :) x
I LOVE MAc paint pots. and I have to say: I have quite oily eyelids and I ALWAYS use a paint pot as a base. because they do set and if you put a powder eyeshadow on top the last very very long!
You should get Indianwood. It's absolutely stunning antique gold with bronzy tone. Works with my pale skin and really makes my blue eyes look amazing. But i would say it would look even more beautiful on darker skin.
Thanks for recommending this great product. I am a mature woman and I recently bought two matt shades. They even out all discolouration and work wonderfully as a primer on my oily eyelids.
What is Mac paint pot? Is it a primer, eye-shadow base or concealer?????? Can you plz make a video of how to use eye primer and eye-shadow base at the same
Thanks for showing these. I've not purchased any of the paint pots because I guess I was afraid of them. The colors are beautiful and are on my "to buy" list now. You are fabulous.
Totally agree about the shimmer paint pots. Some are hit and miss. I got Morning Frost which was limited edition. It's almost a taupe frost type of colour and I've had no issues with creasing or sparkles or anything! =)
@debshunt Just in case you haven't tried this, I'll share a tip that's worked nicely for me, for Paint Pots and anything else that's a cream or firm gel in a pot: store them upside down, on their lids. helps a lot!
when i find that someone has dry eyes either i use just a cream color base by MAC or i use a paint pot and soften the matte paint pot with a cream color base. usually this is the trick and it makes the eye shadow look soft and pretty all day long.
i have a couple of the paintpots, and yes they crease. but so what! i love the look of the shimmery ones when they crease a little bit. i adore barestudy with a little bit of black liner and mascara.
I am so glad that I check your older vids for this topic. I hear ppl talk about these pots all the time but I had no idea that they come in all these shades and what they were for.
Subscribed! I bought my first MAC paint pot today, Quite Natural. I gave up on eyebrow shaping two months ago, i followed your tips and shaped my brows today. They look amazing!
I actually use bare study as a highlighter on my cheekbones, as well as an eyebase! It looks amazing on the cheeks. It's very shiny, but it looks beautiful! x
I just turned 55 and was looking for an Eyeshadow primer. Bought this in Painterly. Hope it works. Thank you for the info Wayne... God bless.. You're amazing!!!
I have the 3 of the paint pots, In Soft Ochre, Groundwork and Indian wood, But they crease as I have very oily eyelids and so my eye shadow will move before I have even finished my eyes but I just use my Urban Decay primer potion underneath and it lasts all day =)
Ok I'm so glad I wasn't the only one that noticed how good this man was looking.. I been a subbie for awhile now today was the first time I my eyebrow went up like HUMMMM!! I'm just saying your making this chocolate girl wanna stray.. Hey from THE USA.. Love your vids..
"get buggered" Ha. Love it. Not sure what it means, but still love it. I love paint pots too. Thanks for showing us all those colors, it's helpful to see them "in person," as opposed to on Mac's website.
Can you please do demos with the Paint Pots showing what color eyeshadows you would use with each and using them to do a Smokey eye as mentioned in the video? Thanks again for the info. O
I microwaved mine on 10 second intervals until it was liquid, then i put the cap back on a let it set. it's not quite as smooth as when i first bought it, but it's WAAAAY better than when it dried out.
If you have dry eye lids will it otherwise work if you apply lotion first or a serum . Do you think it would help with the application for someone with dry eyes?
Thank you! For saying they can be used as concealers! I had a "make up artist" tell me "never ever ever do that it's liiiike so bad!". I told her to get stuffed, I do what works, and just because the label says one thing, it doesn't mean it can't be used for another if it's safe. I had a question though, I've longed for a paint pot in a beautiful matte baby pink colour, do you (or anyone else) know if something like that exists (MAC or non-MAC)? I love painterly (and the ten other pots I have) but I want lighter and pinker! With no damn glitter! I feel like that's the one colour that MAC has yet to bring out. Especially with all the pin up looks being stock standard now it would be a huge seller! If you have time to reply I would be astounded and appreciative :).
i don't really know if you'd see it as a baby pink, but i've been wanting to get "stormy pink" which is a matte, slightly greyish pink. It's quite light and would look gorgeous all over the lid. hope it helps^^
Worldcultured Yeah! I already have it, it comes up as a medium greyish-purple on me but I still love it, a bit bruise-y but god it's beautiful. I've accepted the fact I will never find that colour. I'll just have to become famous and make my own limited edition mac products :P.
Idyllic is gorgeous on hazel eyes, painterly is the best base for keeping shadows in place along with groundwork, love them all, far superior to any eye primers that I have tried.
I love my paint pot! Best primer ever and I haven't experienced any creasing. I've had mine since September/October and used it almost every day, you can barely see that I've used it :D
The Aus prices are extortionate ! Try Maybelline Tattoo 24hr cream eyeshadows. They are the same as MAC Paintpots and I use them as eyelid primers too.
I have bought several of the paintpots - and done them all up tightly - but they have still dried out relatively quickly.... Bobbi Brown cream eye shadows seem to last longer...
I agree, but to continue on this subject, maybelline has for a while now a metallic line of these color tattoos and the shade called ''barely branded'' from that line is pretty close to the mac bare study paint pot :)
i had the same thing happen to me, too. i would look to invest in a really good primer (urban decay's is amazing!) to make the best out of your shadows. xx
i always got the impression that the paint pots were like the big bounce shadows so i ran away, far far far away! i may invest in one of these - thanks wayne!!!
@loriann0216 I think you're talking about the fluidline. MAC fluidline eyeliners, which are gel eyeliners are a completely different product than paint pots although they have similar packaging but they're completely different.
I have thought about trying these. Have you tried the Maybelline 24 hour eye tattoos? I hear the formula is a lot like paint pots. Of course there color selection isn't as good but at $6 american each they are a real bargain.
I wish I loved these as the rest of the world does. I own painterly and bare study but my eye makeup starts to crease after 6 hours where as UDPP makes it stay for 12 hrs which until today I'm still impressed with. On the other hand sometimes I find it hard to blend mat eyeshadows with UDPP. Now testing Too Faced shadow insurance. Anyone else with the same issues here?
I have rubenesqua and honestly kinda regret buying it! You can only really put a tiny bit on your eyes and even then it doesnt stay on that great and I have normal eye lids so.
I think You will need primer underneath these paint pots because they DO tend to crease. at least on me. I remember you did say these crease in a video. And not your saying it will be a good primer? It is a good base definitely but I like a primer that STOPS creasing. :) xx
Lisa Eldridge uses the Maybelline Color Tattoo products. I have purchased them on her recommendation, as well as the MAC product. and have found them both pretty good;)
I use Soft Ochre Paint Pot and usually don't get any creasing but every now and then I'll put UD Primer Potion over it just for some added insurance lol it works
I just got 6 of these & I absolutely love them!! I will use them every day!! A little mascara & I'm done !! I also live in New York City & summers here a brutally hot & humid so I think they'll be great in the summer ... I'm very excited about these!!!

This man hypnotizes me. I sit and nod like a puppet.
Simply adore him.

I'm late to the paint pot game but I can't get enough of it I want to get them all!!!
I love the fact that your so pro about your advices, it doesn't sound amateur like some makeup artist do on TH-cam! I love it 😊
I absolutely love Paint Pots too. They're great on their own, but also great under eyeshadow, and some colours are proving to be especially good under the new MAC Extra Dimension eyeshadows
I think the fact that you buy so much makeup and a lot of the different shades make me love you even more!

Try the MAC paint pot called soft ochre. It's this beautiful very pale skin color. It creates the most lovely lid base for light to medium toned skin.
You are most welcome, I am pleased my tip can help someone else. I don't change the cling film very often, maybe every few months or so? I do have a lot of cream products in jars & I tend to change all of them at the same time (a mini weekend cleanup project lol).

Love Painterly as a eye shadow primer and can not live without The brown one to do my eyebrows. Nothing compares to using that.
For EXTREMELY oily lids, I heard these paintpots in a flesh tone color paired with a primer ( like UD primer potion) BEFORE the paintpot works great.
Thank you for this 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💖
Thanks for recommending this great product. I am a mature woman and I recently bought two matt shades. They even out all discolouration and work wonderfully as a primer on my oily eyelids.
What is Mac paint pot? Is it a primer, eye-shadow base or concealer??????
Can you plz make a video of how to use eye primer and eye-shadow base at the same
Nice questions
it's a cream eyeshadow that works very well as a base! you can use it by itself or with other eyeshadows.
wow Wayne you look really good here, nice glow and the black suits you really good.
thanks for the video, i'm going to try cream eyeshadows, finally.
Thanks for showing these. I've not purchased any of the paint pots because I guess I was afraid of them. The colors are beautiful and are on my "to buy" list now. You are fabulous.

Love Mac Paint Pots, they are my fav Mac products and the only creme eyeshadow (of any brand) that I like!
I bought this, and I love it! Thanks for never letting me down with what you think about products. Please do more MAC reviews! (:

For drying out purposes?
@@zoezzzarko1117 Yes! It helps keep them from drying out as fast as if they’re stored top up. :)
could you use the last two (bare study & rubenesque) as highlighters of the face? i.e. to your cheekbones, bridge of nose etc
rubenesque looks gorgeous on medium skin tones and groundwork is a fantastic colour also!
My dear Wayne Goss some years ago! Lovely as usual.
when i find that someone has dry eyes either i use just a cream color base by MAC or i use a paint pot and soften the matte paint pot with a cream color base. usually this is the trick and it makes the eye shadow look soft and pretty all day long.
Love the groundwork colour best, such a cool brown mole taupe!!!!!
i have a couple of the paintpots, and yes they crease. but so what! i love the look of the shimmery ones when they crease a little bit. i adore barestudy with a little bit of black liner and mascara.
I am so glad that I check your older vids for this topic. I hear ppl talk about these pots all the time but I had no idea that they come in all these shades and what they were for.
Please remember that black and/or white shirts look terrific on you.
Some of the colors are just GORGEOUS! I would like to see swatches of some of those purple ones. Purr purr!
Subscribed!
I bought my first MAC paint pot today, Quite Natural. I gave up on eyebrow shaping two months ago, i followed your tips and shaped my brows today. They look amazing!
i have oily lids and paintpots always crease on me so i have to use nars eyelid primer beforehand
I actually use bare study as a highlighter on my cheekbones, as well as an eyebase!
It looks amazing on the cheeks. It's very shiny, but it looks beautiful! x
I LOVE painterly paint pot!! I wear it everyday alone or with color on top. Its the best!
I own them too....I love how light they are and how smooth they go on
Wayne, which would you recommend as a better eyeshadow base - a Mac Paint Pot (in a shade like Painterly) or Too Faced Shadow Insurance? (:
I just turned 55 and was looking for an Eyeshadow primer. Bought this in Painterly. Hope it works. Thank you for the info Wayne... God bless.. You're amazing!!!

I adore Painterly. I think it's a staple product in a make up collection for lighter skinned people
Gotta love Mac! And their paint pots are just spectacular!
I didn't realise you had another channel until you mentioned it in your last video!! I'll be awake all night watching all these!!
Love Paint Pots. I only have two. Painterly and Groundwork. Would love to get some more!!
I got them cause everyone says they are so good, but they crease on me. I really prefer the UD primers.
Which one do you like best by UD?
I agree.....paint pots are great.......painterly is my absolute favorite!
@pinkpearlpetty I have been taught it depends on how finely milled it is. And also shimmer can be different to glitter.
I watch your videos and find you look much better now seven years after this video!
I can not wear them in the winter too drying. But in the summer they are great. Thanks for sharing
Can you please do demos with the Paint Pots showing what color eyeshadows you would use with each and using them to do a Smokey eye as mentioned in the video? Thanks again for the info. O
No they can still crease, but I notice if I powder mine and then apply shadow it lasts a lot longer.
I microwaved mine on 10 second intervals until it was liquid, then i put the cap back on a let it set. it's not quite as smooth as when i first bought it, but it's WAAAAY better than when it dried out.

That's the way to go ^^!

I love the Mac paint pots too! I like to use Mac better than the urban decay stuff

He mentioned that if your paint pot dries out pop them in a microwave for1-2 seconds and vola it applies like new. I tried it and it works like magic!
can you do a tutorial on these paint pots? I love your videos!! xxox
Contrustivist is stunning!!
I bought it yesterday.
I have also soft ochre and painterly.
i had the same thing happen to me, too. i would look to invest in a really good primer (urban decay's is amazing!) to make the best out of your shadows. xx
Rubenesque is my first and only mac product I've ever bought!
i always got the impression that the paint pots were like the big bounce shadows so i ran away, far far far away!
i may invest in one of these - thanks wayne!!!
Never been a MAC girl but these I'd like to try. Thanks for the review!
@loriann0216 I think you're talking about the fluidline. MAC fluidline eyeliners, which are gel eyeliners are a completely different product than paint pots although they have similar packaging but they're completely different.
will definitely try these! might try quite natural for my first buy. going on the safe side first
I can't live without the paint pots
especially on work !!!
Thank you for this video! Question: are they easy to blend? How do you blend them?
I have rubenesqua and honestly kinda regret buying it! You can only really put a tiny bit on your eyes and even then it doesnt stay on that great and I have normal eye lids so.
Paint pots make me feel so professional when I use them heehee :P
I JUST ORDERED THIS PRODUCT .I'M GLAD YOU LIKE THEM BECAUSE IT REASSURED ME
Do you have any dark skinned models you could use in your video. A series on colors from dark skin, brown eyes would be extremely helpful.
Love all your videos! I love when you do product reviews on brands we can get in the U.S. :) Keep up the good work!
thanks, im going to try these paint pots they sound like a lot of fun... just dont know which one to try first??? debating painterly or groundwork???
can you show us tips how to look good using these paint pots with eye shadows?
I love Paintpots. Quite Natural is my to go color when i'm in a hurry. Add Mascara and i'm ready to go :)
Lucky u ,all gorgeous products, u look great in black...
I have groundwork by mac & its amazing for my tan skin and dark brown eyes!
