You really need to check out more power metal Rhapsody of Fire, (Magic of the wizards dream, with Christopher Lee, Wisdom of the king, Village of Dwarfs etc) Symphony X and all such Power metal is some of the best metal there is.. (That, and viking/folk metal )

This is the first track of a concept album, so the build-up in the beginning makes sense when you consider the entire story. "Apex" is just a monster record - every track is fantastic.
The album tells a story about some immortal guy. This is the first song of the album, so the delay at the start of this video is there to set the mood and ease you into a long story. It also represents the immortal waking up.
Not just some immortal guy. He is basically a living Mountain having lived centuries just to be awakened by a mere human who wants to bind him to his will.
Apex is honestly probably one of my favorite albums all time. Haven't stopped listening to it since I got it last year. I will say it is a bit odd Awakening isn't the first song they released from the album, since the album is an ongoing story from song to song, so starting with another one is like skipping a few chapters.
I think Cleanse was a perfect song to release first as it sort of summarizes the whole album in one song. It's the matriarch explaining to the Immortal what she needs done.
This is by far my favourite song that Archers does. I only found then last year, and was so impressed. The vocals are amazing and the talent of the whole band is off the charts! Glad I found your channel tonight and I will be stopping by more often, obviously you has a good ear for tunes. :)

The whole album is one of my favorites. The only ones that didn't make my favorites list were Shadow Guide, Matriarch, and Cleanse the Bloodlines. But my favorites are Awakening, The Coward's Way, False Walls, Earth and Ashes, and Call Me Immortal. I usually shed at least one tear by the end of the album just bc the story is so good and I really feel for the Immortal at the end of the last song bc even though he wants to rest he knows the cycle of his curse will eventually repeat.
He was either rocking, screaming or smiling to the whole song. What. Else. Can you want from Metal? Made me smile throughout the whole song too, yeah! ;)

I really liked Time Stands Still, but I feel Apex was leaps and bounds better. UTA really found themselves with that one. TSS definitely had some faster songs, but I felt like writing was overall better on Apex.
I think the band gets better the more they move the gutteral stuff into the background and push the focus on Brittney's voice. Apex has no songs with gutteral focus, where TSS still had a lot of it.
This song is ridiculous. That bass lick at the end of the solos is freaking sweet. And it's nice to just watch UTA's musical skill and techniques in the video.

I wished she went just a bit higher and angrier with that WOOOAAAAH she does near the start. Also, I can't stop replaying the bit at 6:43 to 7:32. It's like being continuously wrapped in the best blanket ever.
I still prefer Demons of the Astrowaste, it's not as well produced, but there's a charm with independently produced albums - you're allowed to make mistakes, or try something a top level producer wouldn't normally do. There was some unique parts of Demons that they just didn't hit on again - and she didn't hit notes on Apex like she did on Demons. I still think Apex is their most consistent album though, all songs are top tier I'd say. I actually like Cleanse the Bloodlines a whole lot, but I tend not to think of the album as separate songs cause it's one story. Also Cleanse the Bloodlines isn't exactly the most "chill" track ever, it's not high intensity music-Wise, but the vocal performance is astronomical. Definitely get on this album, you'll find some tracks up your alley.

Cleanse the Bloodlines is good, but honestly not as good as Awakening in my opinion. Personally as far as my take on the album goes, Shadow Guide is by far the best of the album to me.

First time hearing this band and wow that was awesome.
Cleanse the Bloodlines is good, but honestly not as good as Awakening in my opinion. Personally as far as my take on the album goes, Shadow Guide is by far the best of the album to me.
