What a fascinating life Jean lived. His school stories, parents, kid brother, Great Depression, Army, cars, romance, radio, TV, movies, books, each category having subsets of their own. He needs to be studied. Thanks, Dap, for your decision to continue to upload these gems.

RG - I might add: World Traveler, GA pilot (he claimed), and one of the youngest in his era ever to receive a Ham Radio license.

Yes, there are so many aspects to his life. It would be a feat to be able to create a syllabus to explore it.

"On this Fair Globe, there are the 'Dregs', the 'Culls', and the 'Chosen'." ... Then there's the 'Leveler': a martini soak😅

10:55 I love Shep's blustery hesitation when he's trying to come up with a descriptor regarding the tenor of Mr. Rupp's notes.😅

"You'd be surprised how spotty traffic is when you really need it." ... It's amazing to me the number of "gems" I miss when I listen Shep's shows on the first try. Edit: third time I listened to this I 'heard' "You are left with nothing but your thumb." Very deep.

14:10 - Another Shep vocabulary word here: "A wave of self-congratulation when one of their *'confreres'* goes down the chute."
...Confrerer = Brother? Gotta look it up but not now. I gotta get up and go to work🌅🕕🏃‍➡️ Edit: yep, looked it up it is "a fellow member of a profession." From the Medieval Latin 'Confrater' brother or fellow. 🤓

Hey DG - A comment of mine seems to have been deleted by the YT overlords. I had dug into the definition of Shep's vocabulary word of the day: "confrere" as in a coworker who had gone "down the chute." I looked it up and maybe YT had a problem with one of the words in the definition. Pity, think it was a great comment, if I do say so myself😊
