Damn I thought I was good with DJ! This is the best DJ player Ive seen so yet. That was pure skill the way he ex machine gun punched into dash ultra. Makes me wanna go train! Good stuff man much respect and thanks for uploading this.
I would like to see more footage of this Dee Jay player,but I can't find anything besides this match.This is by far 1 of the best matches I have seen so far and the best Dee Jay player for sure.
@dugthefreshest how / when do you charge for the ultra if your double tapping for the foward dash ?? how long is the charge time again ? badass combo .
He doesn't come to US tourneys anymore since he's got a kid now, and any footage of Japanese tourneys is hard to find since most of it is owned by NicoNico and that's PPV service. There's a bunch of interviews of him from the South East Asia Major, CEO and EVO this year if you look around.
@Tampanda You don't have to guess and jump over any fireballs; if you have fast reactions, you can jump over any fireballs your opponent throws at you, you just have to practice.
@WaqasJafri90 i'm not sure if that ultra motion is hold back, front, back, front... but if it is, they can do dash inside the motion, like hold back, front twice(dash), back, front into ultra!!
@KingGingerbread5O If im not mistaken it has great priority and alters DJ's jump trajectory. That combined with the possibility that Daigo probably tried to dp it on reaction (which isn't easy) could be why he kept getting hit.
@kankerturk123 I was referring to DeeJay in Super Turbo. You basically have to guess and jump over ryu's fireballs or else ur just going to end up in the corner again and again. Except it was more risky to do than this new knee move that DeeJay has in SF4, that comes down so damn fast that Daigo can't even dp it on reaction.
@BlueRaizen I didn't mean to simply avoid the fireball, what I meant was, if you want to clear the fireball and have enough time to land an aerial attack before the opponent can block or reversal, then yes, with DeeJay you must guess the jump for the most part. Of course, not all players are quick enough to block or dp even if you time your jump with DeeJay too late. But as far as sheer timing goes, DeeJay does have to jump almost at the same time as say, Ryu, throws his fireball to get a hit.
@vagspelunkin You have to buffer the Ultra motion inside of the dash. It's the same way you do Guile's Flash Kick -> FADC -> Sonic Hurricane. Dee Jay's is tougher though.
@GotenMaxwell That's Daigo. He has arguably the best footsies of any Street Fighter player ever. He did a pretty good job of it, Deejay is just one of the best footsies characters in the game and he did a good job of landing combos.
@putsHelloWorld It's possible. On U2 after you charge the DB you have time to dash forward or even walk slightly forward a frame then you have to quickly do a motion of df, d, db, ub 3xPunch. It's pretty hard to do and I can do it in training rarely but, to do it in a high level match just shows how good this guy is.
@knutitup I can see it does come down rather speedy and drops before the natural arc of a regular jump. Gahhh, why is this new SF4 Dee Jay such a hard match for Ryu. I'm used to the guessing game struggle of ST DeeJay.
@DXLR8R @DXLR8R Three things I need to address. There was only 1 random shoryu, and that was the one at the end of the video. Everything else was an attempted anti-air that was miscalculated and/or not auto-corrected. All the other shoryu's besides the last one was calculated with meter/anti-air. Second of all, even Daigo misses combo's, I've seen them first hand at EVO. Lastly, whether this is Daigo or not does not matter, he was a solid Ryu player who was fundamentally sound.
@ethicks00 No, the reason is because he has grown up in the arcade. No delay is definitely a benefit, but Daigo have stated himself the obvious advantage of online play. Playing other countries against players that differ in playstyle from the Japanese being the biggest plus. There is lag sometimes, but at his level I believe learning the playstyle of the opponent is just as impotent, if not more, that a game without lag. Also, the strongest fighters are still unknown, and online, I believe.
@SebbyZox you can oversimplify anything to make it sound unimpressive. being good at chess is "just" being good at moving pieces at the right time. being good at abstract mathematics is "just" being good at manipulating symbols on a page. being a good writer is "just" being good at stringing the right words together in the right order.
damn i always thought deejay was one of the most mediocre characters in the roster, but goddamn this video makes me take it all back! that is one helluva good deejay!!!
@vargtegel regarding your comment. "It's probably his gametag. Saying that it's his friend, he doesn't have to answer 3 millions messages... give me one reason the greatest fighter in the world wouldn't have a gametag of his own when he now." Daigo plays in an arcade, offline. The reason being if he played online he would get used to the horrible netcode delay and in tournaments [which are all offline] would suffer for it.
@pumlin1 people underestimate the leniency of the input system. Get charge, double tap forwared, then finish the motion as fast as you can. Should look like: 3...4412357+PPP. It's easy. What ISN'T easy is EX MGU dash forward ultra. I can do it on my own, but I always drop it in matches.
I guess this was before Daigo realized all of Dee Jay's Sobat Kicks are -5 on block. I saw a more recent match and every blocked Sobat = sweep from Daigo's Ryu.
@Killcycle1989 Just go into training mode and figure it out. If the MP is blocked then your input was too slow, and if the move doesn't come out, then your input was too fast.
Although Takehiko didn't do it in this match, I reallllly like how Deejay can blow right through these shoto's fireballs, and it's a pretty large invincibility window too. Now is it just me or does Deejay take a little longer to build meter? IMO, they should have made Deejay his ST version (combo to dizzy master :-) or they should have given him an overhead move in SSF4.
@SebbyZox True (maybe) for gaming in general (what about sports? what about pro athletes, useful? no?), but by that definition most of entertainment isn't directly useful to society. But it helps in directing the development of culture (is culture useful?), and Daigo, being an pro gamer, is an entertainer of sorts. So whether gaming is useful or not, if you consider entertainment useful or necessary in anyway, I can at the least vouch for Daigo's existence :)
@knutitup well, sir, you win lol, you have lot more knowledge than me when it comes to this game, but cmon, beating daigo with dee jay is an amazing feat in my book.
Sure is! I think I watched one of the matches, but to be fair Deejay has gotten buffed since then I think (Arcade Edition). Also, had no idea my comment got even one like, I'm just now realizing after practically a year.
I'm starting to see a pattern with the youtube comments. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Daigo plays match, Daigo wins regardless of his health. "Daigo is beast! Best player in the world! Daigo rocks!" Daigo plays match, Daigo losses by the smallest bit of health by both players 1 win a piece. "Dude got lucky, Daigo will get him next time." Daigo plays match, Daigo losses while opponent has more then half HP. "That's not Daigo, that's his friend." Or. "Daigo's having an off day." Am I right?
WOW! Dee Jay defeating Ryu, defeating Daigo! How he blocked all the attacks so perfectly, incredible! The best Dee Jay I've seen, well done Akimo n_n
Damn I thought I was good with DJ! This is the best DJ player Ive seen so yet. That was pure skill the way he ex machine gun punched into dash ultra. Makes me wanna go train! Good stuff man much respect and thanks for uploading this.
Man, this Dee Jay knows how to avoid a throw
Anybody knows why Daigo is not showing up lately? There are no videos of him playing in youtube.... I dont see him in any competitions.....
I would like to see more footage of this Dee Jay player,but I can't find anything besides this match.This is by far 1 of the best matches I have seen so far and the best Dee Jay player for sure.
Good stuff, that dee jay player really stepped up, keep it coming
@dugthefreshest
how / when do you charge for the ultra if your double tapping for the foward dash ?? how long is the charge time again ?
badass combo .
@knutitupYeah, but also Daigo fails to reverse dragon several of that dee jays air attacks with plenty of time to. Like at 1:35, why no dragon punch?
He doesn't come to US tourneys anymore since he's got a kid now, and any footage of Japanese tourneys is hard to find since most of it is owned by NicoNico and that's PPV service. There's a bunch of interviews of him from the South East Asia Major, CEO and EVO this year if you look around.
I find Deejays down LP to down MP so difficult.
Do you have to input the jabs slow or fast before you input the Medium punch?
0:21 just crazy
Was 1:40 a failed option select or just one of Daigo's random supers?
at 1:51 how did Dee Jay dash forward and yet still maintain the charge for the ultra?
@Tampanda You don't have to guess and jump over any fireballs; if you have fast reactions, you can jump over any fireballs your opponent throws at you, you just have to practice.
What about tournaments, or any other event, placed in Japan, Canada, US or wherever? What about interviews, what about any other news about him, etc?
what is it with that jumping knee attack.?it seems to hit every time.
Things changed now, you saw a lot of Dee Jays in the early rounds of EVO 2012 :D
That's a good day! :D
1:52. Seriously, how do you dash forwards and still use a move that requires you to charge in the opposite direction?
@WaqasJafri90 i'm not sure if that ultra motion is hold back, front, back, front...
but if it is, they can do dash inside the motion, like hold back, front twice(dash), back, front into ultra!!
@KingGingerbread5O If im not mistaken it has great priority and alters DJ's jump trajectory. That combined with the possibility that Daigo probably tried to dp it on reaction (which isn't easy) could be why he kept getting hit.
@bendermac How can he dash forward and still manage charging backwards as ultra 2 requires?
I seriously want to cry, seeing all those hadokens. Glad Akimo beat his ass down a notch.
@Tampanda What are you talking about? I think you mean 1:45, and TBH it is pretty darn hard to DP that on reaction :S...
Does Daigo still hold that title anymore? I saw Infiltrator won it all last time.
@deadeye723 -During angled jump- D + LK ( Down + Light Kick)
@StreetTrooper I hope they don't find the Gods Garden matches where he only won 2 rounds against Mago a few weeks ago.
I thought you had to be in a corner to make Climax Beat combo into an EX Machinegun Upper. That was some sick gameplay.
@Hynnin11 Have you any proof to back up your statement? That's Daigo's username, and I've seen him lose online to crazier characters than Dee Jay.
best dee jay i've seen, the machine gun upper to ultra was just plan sick
@FutureSon311 no, you're right...i think it's also because of online, he dropped that super combo in round 2 because his low forward didn't connect
@thebeanoffury
you have to walk or dash forward
so its like
charge db, f f (dash), db, ub + 3p
does anybody know how to do deejay's jumping knee? the one where he jumps and as soon as he puts his knee out he falls mid air?
you can get up faster using two punches (LP + MP for example) or two kicks (LK + MP) instead of pressing down, so you can keep your charge.
@roarmonsterful that ex mgu -> dash ultra is one of the hardest things to do in the game.
That was a really good Dee Jay. I can understand Daigo losing, even if he doesn't lose much. Give him time to learn the matchup.
Someone PLEASE tell me how Dee Jay can technical at 2:54 and then instantly do a charge move that requires holding down and then shifting to up?
It’s been 5 years, have you realized he was just charging down the whole time? Lol
It's not often I see Dee Jay played competitively. Daigo or not, this player gets all my respect for this match-up.
@bendermac i completely forgot about that dash with deejay, looks liek i need to pick him back up! nice vid'
1:51 that machine gun upper into the climax beat was pandemonium
Every charge lasts for a little time after releasing. During that time you can do some move, for example dash forward.
@LusscaLP it's his Jamaican brand hairspray.
how!?! How do you dash then ultra with Deejay? I MUST KNOW!!
@vagspelunkin
You have to buffer the Ultra motion inside of the dash. It's the same way you do Guile's Flash Kick -> FADC -> Sonic Hurricane. Dee Jay's is tougher though.
@funkduz daigo isn't a shoto anymore, his a yun.
should i get this for 360 or ps3 im soo confused lol
@GotenMaxwell That's Daigo. He has arguably the best footsies of any Street Fighter player ever. He did a pretty good job of it, Deejay is just one of the best footsies characters in the game and he did a good job of landing combos.
It's interesting to see Daigo so agressive.... his old playstyle remember mine, but of course, mastered by the Beast.
I personally have to tip my hat to the Dee Jay player. Dee's one of my favorites, but I suck at charge characters...he's giving me inspiration!
1:50 Wow that was nice, never saw that done before
@putsHelloWorld It's possible. On U2 after you charge the DB you have time to dash forward or even walk slightly forward a frame then you have to quickly do a motion of df, d, db, ub 3xPunch. It's pretty hard to do and I can do it in training rarely but, to do it in a high level match just shows how good this guy is.
I give a round of applause to that Dee Jay!! Best I've seen so far!!
did Dee jay just do "Jet Pistol"?
@knutitup I can see it does come down rather speedy and drops before the natural arc of a regular jump. Gahhh, why is this new SF4 Dee Jay such a hard match for Ryu. I'm used to the guessing game struggle of ST DeeJay.
@xcaluhbration the account is played by a few very skilled players including daigo umehara
1:52 how did he charge the ultra ?? the forward dash just after the upercut should have cancelled the charge o_O
How did dash with the ultra 2...wow that was a good match
@DXLR8R @DXLR8R Three things I need to address. There was only 1 random shoryu, and that was the one at the end of the video. how in the hell did he pull off his ultra after dashing forward?!
how da heck did he get his ultra after the mgu
damn i always thought deejay was one of the most mediocre characters in the roster, but goddamn this video makes me take it all back! that is one helluva good deejay!!!
what language are they playing on
@vargtegel
regarding your comment. "It's probably his gametag. Saying that it's his friend, he doesn't have to answer 3 millions messages... give me one reason the greatest fighter in the world wouldn't have a gametag of his own when he now."
Daigo plays in an arcade, offline. The reason being if he played online he would get used to the horrible netcode delay and in tournaments [which are all offline] would suffer for it.
@bendermac down forward -> down forward does not equal a dash
@pumlin1 people underestimate the leniency of the input system. Get charge, double tap forwared, then finish the motion as fast as you can. Should look like:
3...4412357+PPP. It's easy. What ISN'T easy is EX MGU dash forward ultra. I can do it on my own, but I always drop it in matches.
@TheRosso84 But it will be in about two months.
@vargtegel
hense the reason he wouldn't have a main account and uses his friends account (how ever frequent that may be)
I guess this was before Daigo realized all of Dee Jay's Sobat Kicks are -5 on block. I saw a more recent match and every blocked Sobat = sweep from Daigo's Ryu.
It helps that Daigo only blocked 2 Sobat Kicks the whole match, one of which was spaced so only the tip would hit (making it safer).
Depends on spacing bro, if you do it right, mk sobat is safe.
@Killcycle1989 Just go into training mode and figure it out. If the MP is blocked then your input was too slow, and if the move doesn't come out, then your input was too fast.
thats like saying "I dont like the whole world rang list of national football teams, it makes its harder for lower ranked teams to win".
@duccAYE i know..maybe his matches are interesting now
this is daigo's friend, daigo's never lost a game before
finally a good dee jay. ur really good bro, keep it up..... or she will dump you lololol.
@funkduz It's Yun, all Yun matches are the same.
@hune182
this isnt arcade edition
I've never seen anyone play so good with d Jay o.o that guys a boss!!!!
@phoenix9909 yea ikr. whats good?
Nice Match... I find streetfighter quite boring but seeing Dee Jay in rare form here is quite refreshing.
Although Takehiko didn't do it in this match, I reallllly like how Deejay can blow right through these shoto's fireballs, and it's a pretty large invincibility window too. Now is it just me or does Deejay take a little longer to build meter? @pumlin1 its called charge buffering i think.. search google
wow after seeing that ultra dash, speechless makes me want to you play with one you high level players. =D
everyone loses from time to time, its just a game, but before a tournament, daigo trains to god mode
Gameinn is DIAGO if im correct.
mmm, interesting air knee from Dee Jay. Very fast. I want to see more high level Dee Jay too.
@Immagonko It's like South Philly High!
Dee Jay's hair is almost not afected by gravity
a guy show it on a youtube video, buffering i think
@Tampanda I honestly think the matchup is even but it is very rare to see a good Dee Jay. Daigo probably still don't know the matchup.
That little air kick :D
@CinnamonGrahams3 The funney thing is DJ said it too :O
I think everybody that didn’t play DJ, based their DJ off of Akimo’s DJ lol
@SebbyZox True (maybe) for gaming in general (what about sports? what about pro athletes, useful? no?), but by that definition most of entertainment isn't directly useful to society. There is always a troll that wants to put another dislike when someone says what SamyDtheGamer said: 1 dislike? Ryu must have been pissed.
@83ghostman Keep practising man, you will get better in no time :)
@knutitup well, sir, you win lol, you have lot more knowledge than me when it comes to this game, but cmon, beating daigo with dee jay is an amazing feat in my book.

Woah that juggle in to ultra still got me jizzin
