Soldier Boy's face when Homelander brought out his grandson, it looked like he was doubting his mission for a second there, phenomenal acting by Jensen
Soldier Boy wanted kids. He wanted more of a purpose. But the minute Homelander showed his vulnerability is the moment Soldier Boy’s self-hatred took over.
I love the little detail of Homelander actually running over to Ryan before going after Soilder Boy. Nice little touch that he actually does seem to care for him.
I don’t think he cares all that much, he might in the moment but I think he wants Ryan on his side to mess with Butcher more than him actually caring for him. Plus I think Ryan is gonna go back to Butcher since well Homelander is a psychopath and yea Butcher isn’t far from that either but he still cares for Ryan more than Homelander does. That’s just how I see it tho, won’t know what happens until the next season
@@sentry3019 I actually think Homelander cares for Ryan, he wants to look after someone because he didn't have anyone to look up to and to trust growing up. Meanwhile, Butcher doesn't really love Ryan but he loved his wife and cares for her final word which was to keep Ryan from being swayed and taken. He may be upset to see Ryan hurt but at the end of the day, for him, it is Homelander's son.
I think SB always knew deep down that he wasn't a good guy and was an asshole as a front for his insecurities. Homelander thinks he's a great guy and the world is wrong (NPD) When he finally saw Homelander he was so disappointed at how fucked up he was. For him, it must have been like looking in a mirror, so he knew he had to stop him.
The delivery on that “you’re a fucking disappointment” line is absolutely incredible acting. You can tell by his face that he’s not even looking at Homelander, he’s seeing and talking to himself, accepting that what his father said was true.
A microcosm for how the west treats masculinity. I thought last season's "Girls really do get it done" was just being funny and ironic. Now I feel certain The Boys is being run by the Director of The Seven Movie.
@@Kyle-2020 you really crafted such a false narrative based on your personal issues. SB wasn’t simply “honoring his commitment” he hates himself which is why he hates homelander and said what his dad said to him. Billy kept his commitment to Becca and Maeve kept her commitment to try to kill HL. Did you watch the show?
It’s sad because this is the most real Homelander’s ever been, what he wants most is what he never got- genuine love. Psychopath he may be, but he knows what he’s lacking and he wants it.
@@TalesfromRedroom boohoo we all need to find love homelander is a fucking disappointment. People have alot less than homelander and they aren't self centered self serving murderous psycopaths.
One of the most underrated aspects of Homelander's tragic but unredeemable villainy is that you can *see* the inner child in him so clearly, yet wholly subsumed by Homelander
I really hate how everyone thought that stopping Soldierboy was more important than killing Homlander, the guy who had been the biggest threat since S1, especially MM, Annie, and Billy all of them were so clouded by emotions they missed the perfect opportunity to kill HL but no let's kill the guy who is literally willing to help us kill him. 🤦♂️
Butcher went 1v1 to him and got good upright Homelander was an unstoppable threat, now he is just an super threat He can die, and has fears like any other person, that is what moved people into being more agressive Also what you expected, the butcher to let Ryan die too? Like Ryan is not just an boy, he is Becca son, he is like Becca and if butcher loved her, he will love Ryan too Like he already did with his promise and his, moments with the boy, truly I wish those 2 can live an normal life together
The way Soldier Boy told his story of how his father was disappointed in him when he was younger, and how he didn't wanna be like his father, yet he did exactly the same to his son, Homelander was pretty poetic and great character writing!
You didn't get it. When Homelander says - "I am you." And soldier boys answers - "I know... you r fu dissapointment" - he doesn't talk only about the Homelander. He thinks that both he himself AND homelander are dissapointment.
I think you totally missed the point. The point was that Soldier Boy came to terms with the fact that his dad was right - he was a pretentious, spoiled asshole and a disappointment. And the fact that Homelander literally grew up idolizing SB and modeling his entire persona off the fake fluff that is the public image of SB... SB realized that his son had, like in HL's own words, become him. To see his son turn out exactly the same as him was the ultimate disappointment. SB made up his mind to kill HL because, while HL thought everything SB was and stood for was awesome and glorious, SB himself reveals through his backstory that he ultimately came to understand that he was a weak, hollow, attention-craving failure
@@kalorakalora Agreed. Also ironic that all both SB and HL needed back in 83 was each other but now its too late. SB to his kid would've been like HL to Ryan, trying to be the opposite of what he had, but SB was sent to Russia and HL raised in a lab ultimately putting them on a path that they cant turn back from.
You can see Soilder Boys' tears as he he is talking to Homelander, even saying the line his father told him. It is truly an emotional and well written scene
Soldier Boy is a real soldier and a Man. The guy kept his word and never double crossed anyone despite him getting betrayed many times. Unlike the others he's not a hypocrite cause the dude knows how painful it is to get betrayed by the ones you love the most.
Dude he was about to kill Ryan as well what you on about? Soldier Boy keeps his words sure, but at the cost of so many innocent people dying? that's just stupid
How telling that Soldier Boy used the same, haunting insult that his own father derided him with when he called him a disappointment. Had they had a little more interaction here he might've called him a shortcut born straight from the womb who didn't even earn his powers.
I love the extra parallel at the start of the episode with soldier boy also doing the "YOU guys are the real heroes" line. even if it was scripted its very telling of their similar positions
I guess it’s because he’s just that disconnected from his son he never met him or raised him but even if he had, he would’ve probably done the same thing his father did because that’s who Soldier Boy is: an insecure guy who takes pride in being a “real man” when a real man would never hurt his son, neither verbally nor physically
@@higaiwokeru I mean if Soldier boy did have kids he probably would have been nicer to them than his father was. The only real reason why Soldier Boy tried to hurt Homelander is because homie wasn’t his son. He probably would have raised homie to be better than he was.
@@higaiwokeru he did state that he wanted kids with countess and that if they let him know about homelander, he would've raised him and given him his shield.
@@higaiwokeru "a real man never hurts his son" ehhh, when your son is a murdering psychopath ready to kill everyone in the world if he loses the shallow love of the masses, it takes a real man to kill his son lol
I love that Soldier Boy earlier said that he wanted kids so he could be different than his own father. Then he says the exact thing to Homelander his dad said to him.
Because he accepted the truth that his father was right. Soldier boy hates himself and seeing his son turn out just like his was the ultimate disappointment. Soldier boy didn't want his kids to turn out like him, he wanted them to be better then him but instead homelander became a darker reflection of him.
What I enjoy about this writing is that we actually cheer for Soldier Boy. Our 'heroes' are teaming up with the supposed 'villain', against an anti-hero. And you get these confused and anxious feelings of wtf and excitement for seeing 2 people who would never team up actually do so. All while not wanting Homelander to win in any manner and actually not minding if Soldier boy gets done what he has to even at the cost of a kid. I just enjoy mostly that The Boys scratches away all OG dialogue of how stories would go, and just interweaves good and evil, good outcomes and bad outcomes into one big mess of "We're not doing anything like anyone else does". It's refreshing.
@@justflex6745 I say anti-hero because they have depicted him as a savior for ages is all. Anti-hero and anti-villain are based a lot on what people viewed them as. Much like heroes and villains are the same.
Yeah it's very refreshing to see yet another f*cking kid running around ruining every plan the main characters have, like we haven't had enough of such sh*t in other movies/shows.
Technically, his portrayal was absolutely nothing like the original character. In that sense, he missed the mark by a mile. Of course, this version of Soldier Boy was a billion times better than the one in the comic, so in that sense, he knocked it out of the park. Honestly, it's very rare that an adaptation changes so much about the original and still is enjoyable on its own merits. The Boys is in a very small clubhouse on that accord.
@@willchurch8376 there's always this pathetic nerd that cries when a character or story is not portrayed as the original. Especially in this case the comics was actually shit compared to the show.
@@willchurch8376 dude he isn't the one who wrote the script for Soldier Boy, if you wanna blame the major character change blame it on screenwriters not the actor.
Soldier boy is the most badass of all the supes. Fears nothing, expresses no weakness, great instincts. I hope he redeems himself, he's my favorite supe.
The problem is Soldier boy was the only one that could have stopped Homelander. Ryan saved Homelander here twice directly and indirectly, and he even enjoyed his father's way of living. He's on the path of being the new Homelander and Butcher will just have to end him.
Say that children gravitate toward love and attention. They’re starving for it when they have a lack of it. Homelander is a psycho, but the one thing, the one redeeming quality to him is his desire for life. The fact that he protected Ryan. Shows he’s capable of changing. I heard someone tell me before, that Homelander was not the villain of the show. And clearly I can see it now.
You’re wrong because this episode taught us that soldier boy isn’t the only one who can beat him, Maeve did some insane damage to him, his super hearing is done for. Star light will be the next to fight homelander and I think she will win, she got an insane power boost after that episode
FinalFlash nonsense all across the board his ears are fine, and plus Starlight only was temporarily power booster because she was able to absorb a metric fuckton of energy
Homelander genuinely cares about Ryan. He's a horrible person and is a terrible influence, but when Ryan was hurt that was real fear he felt for him. He even told him to go back upstairs when he knew it was dangerous. Amazing character, fascinating to watch. Great finale.
@@light-qe3gv Butcher isn't a boyscout and in a normal world I would agree but in this one if I were to compare them to other comic book characters. Butcher is a slightly more sarcastic Frank Castle, while Homelander is an even more psychotic and petty, yet dumber and lazier Eobard Thawne.
@@halo3isawsome321 Shoehorned how? They very clearly set up his fallout with Butcher in episode 3 and it was only a matter of time before Homelander found him. Yes because of him Homelander is still alive, but there is also a big chance that most of them would have died there and Neuman would have had her one way ticket to becoming President since there would be no one else left to stop her. Which obviously have been her long term plan since that will end up giving Vought the one thing they have been trying to get the entire show. A control that will start with the US government and it's military and then end with literally owning the entire planet.
In all seriousness though this scene really shows how the abuse cycle repeats itself from father to son, instead of super heroes though it just happens in families all over
Yeah instead of soldier boy accepting what homelander said and trying to comfort him, he reinforces it and basically ensures that he will always be as bad as him, instead of helping him. People make such retarded arguments about this too, saying that "he saw bad qualities in him so he knew he didn't deserve to be helped" lol obviously he has bad qualities, helping him and accepting him as a son would have definitely given a chance to have homelander become a person who can care for others and isn't constantly insecure and needing to feel love, because he would have gotten what he needed deep down, the love of a parent.

My heart was pounding in this scene, I literally could not predict how it would turn out. It was strange seeing Homelander so vulnerable, and his desperate need for a family, genuinely hoping they could be one. You do kind of feel bad for him.
Ironically, his own father, who's right in front of him, despise him. And he cares so much to his son. This is proof that Ryan is his weakness. He doesn't have parental figure on his life, even Vogelbaum sees him as a product, so he tried his best to be a good father to Ryan.

Homelander is a psychotic murderer/rapist who threatens the lives of all non “supe” humans on earth. He only shows concern for Ryan because Ryan has super powers and thus is worthy of being his son. Butcher helping the man who raped his wife makes zero sense here.

When Homelander said that he killed Noir, one can hear sadness and pain in his voice. It can't be stressed enough how every Homelander's emotion in every scene is spot on and can be seen on his face and heard in his voice. Antony Starr succeeds in portraying all of those emotions. He and Jensen saved the third season.
every season continues to get better imo. They were both incredible actors in this season. But each season is better then the last. So I wasn’t expecting them to “save it”. I was expecting them to make this season the best of all of them. Which they absolutely did.
All the more reason to kill him to. You can't have a person live from a young age with power like that, and not turn out a horrible monster. Butchers goal of kill all supers is the correct one. Most people could never handle that power without being corrupted, so nobody should ever have it just to be safe.

Dammit Ryan. Soldier boy was actually really mature and fairly humble here. He realized his own flaws and terrible behaviour and how his son got the same, even worse because nobody raised him but he also knows homelander is permanently a loose cannon of narcissism. He also keeps his word. Butcher should have pulled Ryan away
What I love about this scene is how everyone kept their word. Soldier Boy held his end of his bargain with Butcher but unfortunately, Butcher also held on to his promise to Becca. I interpret the look they had with Maeve as “we may be ready to die but we’re not total assholes to involve an innocent child.” It solidified him as a murderous psycho who is still fighting to keep his humanity by protecting those he cares about(Hughie and Ryan). Plus, it was also a moment of conviction for Queen Maeve that they might not need Soldier Boy anymore as they think they’re already brave enough to do it on their own. Had Ryan been not involved in this episode, we won’t even be getting another season 😂
If Ryan wasnt there homelander was getting Nuked for sure. Maeve is stronger than Hughie by a huge mile and she did extremely well against Homelander even though he was holding back as he was distracted and also in some twisted way he actually probably loves Maeve or at least thinks he does which is why he didn't kill her earlier. Also that whole harvesting her eggs thing
@@TheMerlet24 You're not even sure of that and even if it's true, to take down Homelander you must be ready to sacrifice everything you have, I mean he IS already dying because of the shits he takes (green compound V) just because he wants to kill homelander and now he changes IS mind and allow Homelander to continue to make Ryan evil ?
I feels like Soldier Boy saying that homelander was a dissapoinment to him was cearly because he wanted his son to be not as asshole as he is but he wasnt there to "fix" HL upbringing resulting in the current megalomaniac homelander just like soldier boy is. Truth is, soldier boy did the right call to end his family line because deep down he knew it well that his legacy of assholeness will continue through homelander and ryan if he wouldn't step in to end it all. Thats a deeper thought to what Soldier boy really think and act on this episode from my point of view But yeah its a personal opinion bruv pls dont take me too seriously 🥴
Soldier Boy realized that if he had a son he would've wanted a better life and upbringing than the one he got. In seeing his lineage stand before him he realized that whatever he could've done for these two if he was apart of their lives was long since passed, that no matter what he could've done for them now, who and what they were had already been set in stone. The only thing he could really do now was make sure that no one else could be hurt by him and his anymore.
I have a different take on this: Soldier Boy wanted his dad to acknowledge and praise him. He considered this weakness and despised himself for having such a human need. When he saw Homelander he was reminded of himself. That's why he cries when Homelander tells him that they both are the same
Thats a very nuanced way of looking at it. Tbh I think Soldier Boys intentions should be taken at face value. He’s still an asshole, he just wanted Homelander to not be such an insecure baby. That’s my opinion.
Honestly, if SB wasn't so strict to his own word, he would have literally been Homelander only salvation towards being human again. Homelander looked up to SB, always sought for actually love that could never be his, and to find out his childhood hero was the family he always wanted, he was quite frankly on cloud nine.

Yet the opposite of what everyone was expecting happened. This show always seems to surprise with each episode, and each episode is truly unpredictable. Can't wait for season 4.
I was fairly confident that soldier boy wasn’t gonna work with homelander, and that hughie wouldn’t die, but I didn’t expect black noir to go out before fighting soldier boy
This season had the best acting by far. Ackles and Starr carried this season with their incredible acting and line delivery, hope Soldier Boy comes back. Amazon almost hit a home run, they could have just let Soldier Boy's body blast depower Homelander and Ryan like it did to Kimiko and Queen Maeve.
To be fair, when a Supe slams your young son with a 100+ pound shield at full force and is about to execute him just to kill Homelander with no hesitation whatsoever, you’d probably also be having some serious doubts about him
Emotionally sure, but I wouldn't let that stop me. By not killing Homelander he's potentially dooming the entire human race. Literally. There's no question what the correct move was.
@@lsd-rickb-1728 theyre back to the drawing board. But maybe not with no powers. Butcher is garunteed to die. He has nothing left to lose at all. So he might take permanent V in season 4.
No one talks about the emotional intelligence and introspection Soldier Boy displayed when he calls Homelander a disappointment. When he looks at Homelander, he finally realizes what his father told him all those years ago was correct. And this is why I want a Soldier Boy redemption arc.
SB has been treated bad tho. He just tried to do what they planned. He informed the boys about being HL father, while he could have just decided it later if betraying Butcher or not. He kept his word and he is not a world menace as HL is. I find it stupid that they preferred fighting him rather than joining Maeve in killing HL. SB is just a chilling idiot, way less dangerous than HL. They filled this episode with "Soldier Boy Bad" dialogues just to make you consider it right that they choose to fight him, while it was more rational to work with him 'til the end. They should have made you fear Soldier Boy more, giving him more screen time (introducing him earlier), but actually he does very little "bad", and most of killing where just vengeance or explosions he didn't choose to do. I sympathized more with SB rather than the boys. Also, both HL and Ryan will probably kill more and more people. SB was a total waste occasion to kill HL. Imo Butcher could have said "Don't kill your grandson. You can still raise him. Just kill HL." instead of fight him back that way. SB probably would accept that. Only after the death of HL, Butcher would have decided to fight SB to not let him stay with Ryan etc.
Yeah hoping that still having him in cryogenics or whatever state he is in allows the chance for him to come back better. He is not half the dick HL is considering he def got messed up by his dad in many ways.. I mean we don't know that though he's already suffered abuse from his dad so he would have done something different, he wanted genuinely to have a kid of his own and I'm not sure that we can just frame what he is and then put it into his parenting style.
i think that soldier boy has the potential to be an anti hero, many things he did troughtout this season show that he struggles to live with what he did, sure he killed all the members from payback, but that little time he shared with butcher and hughie and seeing how they protected each other, made him realize what being a true leader and being on a team is all about, do you really think he believed butcher when he told him hughie flinched from the battle? he realized he was trying to protect hughie and looking at his actions he knows he messed up big, he could very well return as a "new" man in future seasons
That's pretty much why soldier boy is my favorite character he's a man who struggles physiologically from decades of trauma,in my opinion he's the most human

Like he already did with his promise and his, moments with the boy, truly I wish those 2 can live an normal life together
Agreed 👍
why did butcher attack SB?

Huge mistake to not let SB kill Homelander, Ryan IS gonna become as evil as him. Butcher IS an hypocrite and an idiot.
@@daxamgh6126 Agree 100%. Whatever Homelander does going forward could have been avoided. Idiot decision
@@daxamgh6126 Are you nuts? that Blast would've probably killed Ryan. They did the right stopping Soldier Boy.
Props to Soldier Boy for still trying to do the right thing here. You can see at first he was contemplating.
ryan adding more seasons for us to enjoy,W mans🗣️
What a wholesome scene! Because of Ryan homelander and butcher became best pals!
I laughed so hard when Soldier Boy threw Ryan into the cabinet 😂
Same Solider Boy didn’t give two shits that he was a kid let alone his grandson 😂😂
Yes!! "You little shit!" had me rolling.
Man was like “Fuck this kid”😂
I feels like Soldier Boy saying that homelander was a dissapoinment to him was cearly because he wanted his son to be not as asshole as he is but he wasnt there to "fix" HL upbringing resulting in the current megalomaniac homelander just like soldier boy is.
Truth is, soldier boy did the right call to end his family line because deep down he knew it well that his legacy of assholeness will continue through homelander and ryan if he wouldn't step in to end it all.
Thats a deeper thought to what Soldier boy really think and act on this episode from my point of view
But yeah its a personal opinion bruv pls dont take me too seriously 🥴
Soldier Boy realized that if he had a son he would've wanted a better life and upbringing than the one he got. In seeing his lineage stand before him he realized that whatever he could've done for these two if he was apart of their lives was long since passed, that no matter what he could've done for them now, who and what they were had already been set in stone. The only thing he could really do now was make sure that no one else could be hurt by him and his anymore.
I have a different take on this:
Soldier Boy wanted his dad to acknowledge and praise him. He considered this weakness and despised himself for having such a human need.
When he saw Homelander he was reminded of himself.
That's why he cries when Homelander tells him that they both are the same
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
There’s a reason it’s a cliche. Thats because its true.
Thats a very nuanced way of looking at it. Tbh I think Soldier Boys intentions should be taken at face value. He’s still an asshole, he just wanted Homelander to not be such an insecure baby. That’s my opinion.
@@feliprolo might be true but its pretty clear that HL is too much like SB and thats something SB didnt want.
“he is human” that lined delivered is amazing you can tell he thinks himself well above humanity
This whole series is gold. Your always guessing character motivations and its incredible.
Honestly, if SB wasn't so strict to his own word, he would have literally been Homelander only salvation towards being human again. Homelander looked up to SB, always sought for actually love that could never be his, and to find out his childhood hero was the family he always wanted, he was quite frankly on cloud nine.
I think HL prolly regrets killing Noir now
@@danielmiller9012 for one I hope they put Noir together AGAIN and Noir really comes after HL. If A train doesnt die for God know how many times ... Noir was done dirty and so was SB this finale.

lol, HL is far far beyond salvation.
@@danielmiller9012 no, i dont think so. Because if Noir had told him, he could have grown up with his dad and is readon enough to kill him
@@vitcher3507 No one is beyond salvation, homelander's redemption could be him saving Ryan and saying something like "don't turn out like me" it's cringe but homelander is very much capable of that

They was this close to putting in end to Homelander.
Bro Billy put the child above all human race 💀
I love ryan’s surprised face when he realises he cant push Butcher away
The writers did a major 180 with the finale, we thought soldier boy would work with homelander, we thought butcher would get Hughie killed, we thought Noir would die fighting soldier boy. Yet the opposite of what everyone was expecting happened. This show always seems to surprise with each episode, and each episode is truly unpredictable. Can't wait for season 4.
Honestly I'm really fucking glad Hughie didn't die. There's no show without him
I was fairly confident that soldier boy wasn’t gonna work with homelander, and that hughie wouldn’t die, but I didn’t expect black noir to go out before fighting soldier boy
@Viper Hareous Yeah. It wasn’t a bad episode per say, but surprising the audience isn’t always a good thing.
Yeah.. No. This was another example of poor “subverting expectations”
@@sweetlights8019 Hughie will probably survive in entire show
This is like if Superman went rogue, and Wolverine, captain america, and Wonder Woman were sent to contain him.
To be fair, when a Supe slams your young son with a 100+ pound shield at full force and is about to execute him just to kill Homelander with no hesitation whatsoever, you’d probably also be having some serious doubts about him
But homelander is a monster and butcher undid everything now back to the board fighting him with no powers
@@lsd-rickb-1728 All for a kid who showed a small smile when he saw HL kill someone and people cheered. Butcher is a idiot Imo
Bruh It’s on Ryan He should’ve listened to both butcher and HL they both said the same thing “Go upstairs or get out of here”
He 100% had it coming
Emotionally sure, but I wouldn't let that stop me. By not killing Homelander he's potentially dooming the entire human race. Literally.
There's no question what the correct move was.
@@lsd-rickb-1728 theyre back to the drawing board. But maybe not with no powers. Butcher is garunteed to die. He has nothing left to lose at all. So he might take permanent V in season 4.
"not some weak sniveling pussy" had me snorting LMAOOO
On god 😂 I don’t know why people ain’t talking about this
Best line of the episode
The way he grabs Homelander by his neck.. "you are a fucking Disappointment"
No one talks about the emotional intelligence and introspection Soldier Boy displayed when he calls Homelander a disappointment. When he looks at Homelander, he finally realizes what his father told him all those years ago was correct. And this is why I want a Soldier Boy redemption arc.
I love how they look at each other at the end like “we’re not ok but for now, we’re ok”
Homelander may not have had Parents to raise him but no where did he get the level of emotional beat down soldier boy got from his dad from vought scientists. Think that’s why SB thinks he is so weak also.
the question is. after the last chap, who is stronger? hl or sb
@@pablogalianoarjona7073 HL imo. He was too busy watching for Ryan to care about SB. Also he didn't want to hurt Maeve so he doesn't use full power on purpose. Also, probably he didn't expect Maeve being so much trained (while HL didn't trains at all).
I think speaking about power (not training) HL > SB > Maeve ≥ Butcher
@@brando_duurie SB is stronger imo. I think the boost he got in russia makes him stronger than homelander. He was only overpowered by HL in their first fight coz he was depowered from using his radiation blast thingy
@@ved7816 idk bro. I don't think Homelander is weaker. Hard to believe the main villain will be weaker than a season villain
I doubt that soldier boy would be a good father figure. His ego and ptsd would’ve made him extremely abusive.
Edit: I just want to make it clear I meant as in hypothetically if soldier boy was never put to sleep.
I mean we don't know that though he's already suffered abuse from his dad so he would have done something different, he wanted genuinely to have a kid of his own and I'm not sure that we can just frame what he is and then put it into his parenting style.
Ego? really? when are people gonna stop pulling that bullshit?
One russian song and he will accidentally blow up his family
You clearly never knew any bout PTSD
Homelander is no different, he kills anyone who does something he doesnt like.
2:13 I love the subtle facial expression on Homelander thinking "better? I'm PERFECT"
Probably the first time you legitimately feel bad for Homelander.
i think that soldier boy has the potential to be an anti hero, many things he did troughtout this season show that he struggles to live with what he did, sure he killed all the members from payback, but that little time he shared with butcher and hughie and seeing how they protected each other, made him realize what being a true leader and being on a team is all about, do you really think he believed butcher when he told him hughie flinched from the battle? he realized he was trying to protect hughie and looking at his actions he knows he messed up big,
he could very well return as a "new" man in future seasons
That's pretty much why soldier boy is my favorite character he's a man who struggles physiologically from decades of trauma,in my opinion he's the most human
Oh no he's a grade-A asshole. He's power-mad but it plateau'd at the old Faith mantra of 'Want Take Have.' Homelander is just gonna get crazier and crazier.
America have him now I think they will train him to be homelanders clone aka black noir
@@Momoo77 to be fair, Butcher didn’t betray him. He just told SB to leave Ryan out of it. He was still game to kill Homelander, just not Ryan(and why wouldn’t SB agree, he could always go at it again later, the kids eleven)
I doubt it. He still feels no remorse for the actions he didn't view as mistakes( abusing payback, his real "combat experience" and all of his cover ups including MM's one ). They made him a human, but he still is a bad guy in every sense
Soldier Boy is the spinoff series we DESERVE!!
I'd love a prequel series centered around Solder Boy honestly. Or maybe a sequel series set after the Boys finishes it's run where we see him come to terms with his trauma and past and become a real hero.
I want to see soldier boy coming back as a 'good' guy he was easily the best thing in season 3,I love homelander and seeing him go fully bad was cool but solider boy has genuinely been the most entertaining and interesting character for me,I'd like to see then do something different with his powers though he's been through so much you could easily write that he's developed something new from all the torture etc
I fucking love this scene. The confusion... Soldier boy's sorrow, grief and self loathing all reflected in that "i know, you're a fucking disappointment".
Never in a thousand years did I expect Butcher and Homelander to work together, even if it was just for a moment.

This is actually the perfect twist and actually incredibly sad, all Homelander ever wanted as a child in the comics was a mother and someone to actually love him.

God Anthony Starr is so good! I love his performance. You really see his emotions all over his face. 😢
Ryan will probably end up killing homelander like noir in comic
Think about this for second. Homelander gave that speech to him about killing his most loved things. He zapped tf outta soldier boy. Partly responsible for his mother death. (Beccas sweet revenge). And he willingly went with homelander. To almost keep an eye on him. Like somebody else? Shows been switching characters around anyway

@@2whitecups941 Homelander is not Soldier Boy. He is also just a kid in grown-up adults body. SB said he was disappointed in him because he cried like a "pussy" and needed attention just like girls do. In the last episode it's certainly clear that the show is just messing around with "Men masculinity" thing, which is popular last time. Many families have fucked up relationships between dads and sons when fathers think their child is "pussy" because he cries and etc. I don't like any of that. Men are not robots and not "pussy-girls".
No Stan is gonna bring noir back with same powers as homelander, then homelander will killl Victoria in the White House and that’s where black noir is gonna arrive.

the way this season humanized Homelander was amazing
he’s still a broken man, too far gone to be helped but THIS scene, he was reaching out and he got called a pussy and a disappointment by his own father.
although I think that he would’ve probably become worse if Soldier Boy had joined him because Homelander’s idea that he’s a God and should be worshipped is still there and will never go away as long as he has powers
two equally powerful "superheroes" with similar levels of ego and dark past will never join forces together.
that's like asking Nazi Germany and USSR to be "friends".
You know, for a second I thought that maybe if Homelander goes away with Ryan and raised him like he himself would've wanted we could get some sort of happy ending.
Then the laser scene happened and I felt like an idiot lol
humanizing characters are making this show worst imo
I dont think hes too far to be helped at all in fact this moment proved it. He is someone who just wants people who actually care and love him, he wants a family

Soldier boy calling Homlander "disappointment" is just heartbreaking. Back in a few episodes, he recalled how his father called him a disappointment, and it seemed like it still had been haunting him. In this scene, he's doing the same thing, and the worst part is that he even seems like he knows he's doing the same thing his father did.
Soldier Boy acknowledged Homelander as his son and still chose to kill him. He was even willing to kill Ryan. That is extremely fucked up
No it was the plan. Butcher would hav killed ryan if it wasnt for becca
HL is far from redemption the fucked up ones are butcher and maeve for thinking to stop soldier boy. HL was never redeemable, he abuses his powers, soldier boy is just as bad….
Because there's no emotion into it. SB was betrayed, tortured and when he got free, he realised they created something better than him using his sperm.
But it would be worth it to kill Homelander because he's just as bad
Soldier Boy was in pain knowing he was about to kill his dream of raising his own son and grandson but he knew how fucked up homelander is being an experiment of vought and Ryan was about to become even worst if raise by homelander.
