How do some add lining to this shift dress with the cut in front.
Beautiful tutorial dear,but pls what of situations where the bust is larger than the hip,, CAN you use the bust measurement for the hip.
You should use the highest circumference + ease to cut the gown, since it's a shift dress it automatically adds ease to the hip area too but if the difference is too much, you can reduce the allowance at the hip area.

I fold into 4 to get the front and back pieces or into 2 to get either the front or back

No you don't

Can I make this dress without a button, zip or ribbon?
You can but you will have to add a lot of ease and the neckline wider. But I advise you add zipper or buttons

Sure you can
Out of the three inches, how many inches for ease and how many inches for stitching pls
0.2" is sufficient stitching allowance for me. Please add as much ease as you desire.
