This was so cheap in my local store.. I've never had whiskey and have been looking around. This is my second review and both positive. I'll take a look at 2 more to make my choice.
I love that you guys are maintaining sensitive enough palates to get hit with those notes in such a visceral way. that's a 40% ABV whisky after all. For me, the 12 year is a clear upgrade from the white label for just $2 or $3 more and well worth the bump up in price. What really surprises me is the 18yr for $60. Well worth that price imo. Yes, for $60 US, you can buy some quality single malts for that price. But if you are someone that is conscious about palate fatigue (drink often enough and your taste buds become less sensitive; this is a driving force behind people becoming proof hounds), then bottles like the Dewar's 18 43% or the Green Spot 40% can bring a lot to the table.
As a good Catholic boy I used to abstain during Lent. One year I decided not to drink wine or beer and tested about 6 kinds of whiskeys. Irish and Scotch. No cheap ones but mid range brands. Bottom line was Dewars White Label hands down.
Mild, unoffending, lends itself well to other things. Loved the Smooth Ilegal mezcal barrel aged expression they offered a few years ago but haven't seen since.
OMG. I am nursing my one bottle of Smooth Ilegal that I snagged for $13. I wish I had bought 3 more. The mezcal finish is so unique that I can't find it in any other whisky.

The Dewars 12yr is my favorite blended whisky. I can find it around $25-28 and it tastes like a $50+ bottle, I hope they review it
I've had the Dewar's Ancestor. It's quite good. I think we had such crazy reactions because it was very different from the previous whiskey.
this is a go to and their double barrel that is twice the price is very good, indeed.
I need to get a bottle of this for my next purchase!
