- Hey Y'all!
ITS FINALLY HERE!!! This video has been highly requested and I hope I explained this process well enough for you to make one of these sweaters for yourself. I absolutely love mine and get compliments every time I wear it. Let me know if you have any questions and what you would like to see next! I have a lot of crochet tutorials in the works and I can't wait to share them with you. Thanks for being here!
God bless you!

Can I just apologize on behalf of humanity for people who comment rude things lol. You don’t owe anyone a video and most people never consider how tedious making videos is and I and many others appreciate how much effort you put into this to show us how to make a lovely sweater. I could hear you clearly and you were very clear that your size may vary and to simply add more squares if you wanted additional length or width. Thank you for this great video!
❤amen.😊great video.
So excited to make this. I'm thinking of modifying the pattern a bit to make a summer half sleeve overshirt for myself.
Beautiful!! I am new to crocheting at age 65! You have made this look so doable for someone who has only done dish clothes and scarfs so far. I inherited a storge tote of my mother In laws yarn who crocheted and look forward to giving this a try! Thank you!!
You can do it! That’s awesome

@sasserhouse Ll❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’d love to know how it’s going for you!
I love the muted colors. It gives it a really softer look than the more afghan granny square look.
I’m 74 this year and now you’ve made me think seriously about making one 😂😂
Me too. I’m 74 in November and I am almost done. Good luck. 👍
I’m almost 74 also and I am going to make one. So cute!
I finished and I’m making more. It came out great. I’m so happy. Good luck to you. 🎀
And now I’m making a second one for my sister in law! This sweater is a big hit!!! Thank you❤️❤️👍🏼
GREAT TUTORIAL THANKS A MILLION IM ALMOST DONE WITH MINE ❤️
This is the first cardigan tutorial I’ve seen where I actually have confidence that I can make this. Thank you!
I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of this tutorial! I’m totally new to crochet and your tutorial has been by far the easiest to follow with how well you explain each step. Thank you!!!! 🎉❤
OK guys I've just finished mine, I used style craft special aran weight. 12 colours in total. 3 squares for each sleeve. Each granny 5x5 inch. I started Xmas night, not rushed, so 15 days. Really enjoyed it so much thanks for sharing sh. 👏 I'm ready to start another😊
This is so inspiring!! I’ve just finished my second square and I’m loving how much I really enjoy making these! It’s so great to hear others are too!! We should start a Granny Square Sweater Club 🥹😆
Wow! 15 days. That’s great. 👍
Granny Square Sweater Club. I like that.🧶
Wow ! 15 days. That’s great👍
@@JoDanielle13 really therapeutic arnt they😁👏 love the granny club idea👍
I remember my mother making these back for us in the 70's! It's so sweet to see all these things come back.
How cool!!!!
I love this vintage boho style, i bought a poncho mase fra Nepal made with granny square, i love the idea that this vintage style is coming BACK and its trening topic. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, i m New i crochet so that is my goal to learn this style. Grettings from Norway🇳🇴
I am 61 and want to learn too!
After a couple months of crocheting these granny squares and forgetting about them, I have finally finished all of my squares😂 so excited to put it all together!!!!!
Finished last night! Turned it into hoodie, lengthened sleeves and cuffs, lengthened the back and slightly gathered lower back. Only ribbing is cuffs. Used shell stitch for hood, front trim and bottom trim. Even folded 2 squares to make triangles, as weird as that seems.
I would love to see it with the hood. 😍
Please I beg for a photo somewhere
Attempting to make this for my best friends birthday, also the person who has really shown me Jesus is the way 💕 I’ve literally only ever made a coaster so yall pray for me 🙏🏻😂
thank you for the detailed tutorial ❤
6 month check in, how did it turn out.
For someone slow on the uptake like me I can say loudly that, your teaching explanation made miracle, because finally I leeeeearnt this beautiful stiches..! Thank you😁🎉
YAY🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial. I actually followed it and completed my sweater in just over a week. My first ever crochet project and it turned out gorgeous. About to make another one now for my daughter.
That us amazing!! Big project for your first one! Impressive
My grandmother was born in 1901. I was born in 1961, and I remember visiting my grandmother one day as a young girl, and there she was with her pile of squares, and crocheting the next one. I think it was for an afghan. I have a soft spot for these! :)
That's so cool! My grandma was born in 1897..I was born in 1967. She taught me to crochet. :) Aren't grandmas just the best?
@@theMermaidRhonda That is wonderful that she taught you to crochet. It is not something I learned, but when I see the Granny Square Sweaters in the store, I imagine I would be shopping for all sorts of yarn color combinations to make my own if I knew how. It is so nice to see something so "old fashioned" be so "on trend". Who knew! :)
I just completed my sweater! I added an additional row on the sleeves and front and back- so 15 extra squares. I also crocheted my border right on the waist and collar, like an afghan border. The sleeves i added a shell stitch to keep the open bell like opening and didn’t gather them. I wish i could attach a photo. I really appreciate all your work to share this with us! God bless you !
That sounds beautiful!!
If u shared a pic in a fb group, do share the link. 🙏
I just finished the cuffs and was looking back to see how to do the borders! I’m going to try crocheting them on rather than piecing together. Thanks for the idea!! ❤
Just finished my cardigan! would've finished in 3 weeks, but I had a finger injury! thanks for the tutorial
Did you do the same 39 squares? I’ve been trying to figure out what size her squares are. Can you share your square size?!
What a beautiful sweater! And a great tutorial. I'm an old crocheter,,,but I came across this as I have been looking for ideas for granny square sweaters...I love how you have done yours!!❤ Blessings ❤!!
I'm making this for my mom. It will be styled as a bed jacket so I won't be putting cuffs on it. This was a godsend as I had all my squares finished, but had no idea how to put them together! Thank you ❤❤❤
Great idea!
Just finished. Took me less than 2 weeks. I loooove mine.
Used beautiful autumn tones. My cuffs and bottom edging are 15 sc wide (I wanted more length; would add an extra row of squares next time.)
Thank you SO much for this helpful and fun video. I know how much time it takes to film and edit.!❤🎉
Bravo.
This is a great video. Also used the squares for a blanket. Thanks so much for such a beautiful cardigan❤
I do not crochet well...maybe a dish rag or 2 and who cares what those look like right....LOL I am almost finished with mine. I had to add an extra row on sleeves as I am larger than the original pattern. I am IN LOVE with this. Should be wearing it to church this Sunday!!! Thank you so much ....this tutorial was so step by step so even I could make it. I bought the Mini (4) at hobby lobby for .99 each. Still have some left and so reasonable. I had no yarn and that worked out best for me. You are awesome ...thank you again for paying your gift forward. 🙌
I get a lot of yarn at thrift stores, very inexpensive. People start projects and for whatever reason they don’t finish and it’s fun to see what you’ll find!
That is a great idea!!! Thanks for the tip.
How many balls do you think it takes to do this pattern as I just finished this the traditional granny square pattern using my scraps instead and used the great way you used to join it all up. So easy so looking forward to forward to doing your pattern but have no clue how much wool to buy, help please anyone as it's just getting cooler here in Australia.
I bought several mini poly #4 using 5.25 needle. I made my sweater (which i made the sleeves larger) and made the size Emily Ann demonstrates. I used up alot of the colors. Still have a few left. Maybe 16 different color mini's. 1 large color to join. I used cream color.@heathersherrah7898
This definitely the prettiest granny square cardigan I've seen.
Thank you for such a clear, concise, simple tutorial.
Just found your channel today and subscribed immediately.
Looking forward to binge watching your channel.
Just made mines and everybody LOVES IT..!!! Thanks for the tutorial ❤️❤️❤️…
Omg, thank you so much, I’ve been crocheting for like a month, and I loved how easy you made it be ❤
I finally finished making this sweater , it's my first big crochet project and I added buttons down the front an extra layer of squares so it's not so crop. It took me 9 and a half weeks and I'm so glad I persevered as its beautiful. Thank you for your easy tutorial it gave me the confidence to make this awesome sweater. Thank you
I have been listening to the Bible too! Its awesome for working on things while you listen!! I hope to try this project soon ❤
You are an incredible teacher !!!!! I’m living this !!!! You make it so so easy to understand !!!!!
As a left handed, double jointed person that’s been trying to learn crochet for 20 years (I’m 39 so I’ve wanted to do this since a pretty young age 😂) I can’t tell you how much you’ve helped me finally learn something other than a single crochet stitch. When I was 19 I started an 8 ft long afghan that took me 7 years to get about 25% of it done. I actually had a housefire a few years ago and lost it. I’ve recently wanted to crochet again and just finished my first granny square bag thanks to your video. I’ve struggled so much trying to learn this backwards for so many years and you made it so incredibly simple. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach this to others 🥹☺️🧡
I'm a lefty and have found several videos that have helped me and now I can follow the rights of the world and have my work come out good!! Believe me I know your struggles stick with it you'll get it 😊😊😊
I feel that confusion 😅 “lefty” here because i write left handed but day to day neither hand is fully dominant. It’s all good but gets annoying. Constantly switching utensils and directions. Different hands do different things.
I love all the colours used!! Beautiful.
I’m here in Karns, Knoxville and just found this and LOVE it! As a quilt teacher, I really appreciate how methodical and easy you teach this. You’re a natural. Can’t wait to make this now. Thank you so much!!💖🧶🧵🪡✂️
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I've only crocheted seven squares so far but I was able to do them because of you!! I've been trying to learn crochet for a couple months now and this was exactly what I needed to understand it. I'm hoping to make enough for the cardigan. I'm having so much fun!
I really like the way you explained the process of making the granny square 👍🏾👍🏾great job
I found some really nice yarn at the thrift store a few months ago at a steal (Caron Simply Soft 7 skeins $1 each) . I got up this morning and was inspired to make a sweater with it. I searched granny square sweater and your video came up first. I love your sweater and I'm starting on my star burst sweater this morning. Thank you for sharing your creation❤
I love it. You have made your tutorial so easy. Your sweater is so beautiful.
I was looking for a granny square sweater ,yours popped up so I watched your story and paused ,jumped up grabbed some yarn and continued to watch a crochet right along with you. I cant wait to finish it. , i have cricheted several swearters but not a granny square , i love the sunburst , so I was excited to start right away very easy to follow along , thank you so much for your teaching this pattern .God Bless. Im 60 and typically make hats .
Thank you so much for sharing this!! I made this in Christmas colors and it is the most perfect Holiday sweater ❤️💚
Omg!! That sounds beautiful what a great idea! Merry Christmas
Would love to see a picture of the one you made with Christmas colors.
I love this idea…to have a unique xmas sweater done in xmas colours…fabulous. I know I have some red with sparkles yarn in my stash now to find the perfect green.
A tip when you stitch on the band, start with long tail to stich up halfway, then your finishing tail only needs to be half that length and won't tangle. Also, find the middle of the band and the middle of the back and pin, so it is even . 😊
Beautiful colour combinations❤
I’m a total beginner. Ran across your video. It’s is fabulous!! i’m so excited to learn to make this! Thank you for such a great video. step by step. thank you so much.
Yay!! Good luck and have fun!!!
It's about to be a bible and crochet fall/winter! Video blessed me from start to. Now I can finish my cardigan which I started 2 years ago while grieving. Thank you sis! God bless you!!
Such a nice cardigan!! And a wonderful video. Watching your tension, I’m definitely going to size up on the hook. And yes people need to get a grip! This tutorial is wonderful!! Thank you for your time!!!❤
I absolutely LOVE ❤ this and will be making one! Also no matter what age people are, they will love it too. I , by the way will be 74 in April❤❤❤ Wonderful video also !
Thank you for your beautiful pattern. I'm almost finished with all my squares. I'm blocking them now. Only difference, i made my shelves with 9 squares instead of six. It's going to be gorgeous. Can't wait. Giving it to my daughter for her birthday this month on the 29. I got 4 days to finish 😉 Thank you again. I do make a different cardigan every week. I'm loving this one. Very easy
Woohoo, just finished my first Starburst Granny square! First time I can say a granny square was actually very enjoyable and easy to make 😂
Very good video. I am making my squares every day and will then decide if they are a sweater or blanket. truely inspired.
Wow, what a beautiful sweater!! I have a quick question, can you pls let me know the measurement of these beautiful squares? It doesn't have to be exact. I would like to get an idea in case I need to go up a hook size. Thank you so much!!
I wanted to thank you for posting this video. I had never crocheted before but came across your video and decided to give it a go. I made my first sweater already and I loved it so I’m working on a second one. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us :) you are an awesome teacher!
Wow!!! Thank you for your support!! I’m so proud of you!!
This was a BRILLIANT video. So informative and has stopped me in my tracks from going out & buying one. It might take me 8 months to do it myself but I’m gonna try. Thank you for this! 🙏🏾
My granddaughter just loves the one I made for her, thank you for teaching us!!
Ok, so I have only ever made blankets and scarfs. So I seen your sweater and I fell in Love, I am now making my 1st ever clothing project. I am excited, and can’t wait to finish it so it can be warn. Thank you for thinking of and creating this Cute project so that it made me try something new. I even have my 12 year old Daughter trying to make different projects herself.
I am so making me a granny square sweatshirt 🎉🎉🎉. Reminds me of the times when I was growing up and all my mom's friends and my mom had one of these. Ah, and then I just have to buy bell-bottom pants 👖👖👖
I just found your video. Thank you for such great instructions for doing granny squares. I have been wanting to learn this for so long and was intimidated, but you have made it so easy. Thank you again.
Thank you for your detailed tutorial!! I just finished making one for my 4-year-old toddler, and I plan to make one for myself for mother-daughter cardigans. She is in love!! God bless❤
That is amazing! I just made one for a toddler as well! It is so much fun.
wondering how many squares you made for your 4 year old ? What were the dimensions of the squares?
@@Janetkaylila hi, Janet! Sorry for the late reply. The squares were smaller than the ones for my own (measuring a little over 4" each). The back has 2 rows of 3, each sleeve has 2 rows of 2, and each front panel has 1 column of 3.
Thanks so much for this video. I haven’t crocheted in years and really wasn’t wanting to …until I saw your cute sweater. I am working on my squares now. Blessings!!
That is amazing! Good luck!
I made one for a friend, now i make one for myself.Thank you so much for making this video!
I have already crocheted my granny squares sweater together even though I have added more granny squares to the sweater l still loves the way that you have given me the instructions and how to crochet the whole sweater and your sweater looks very lovely all so thank you alot ❤️
I'm so happy to see Granny being popular again. And it's more than just blankets and vests that were so common in the 60s and 70s. Thank you for sharing your design with us!
Me too!! I love it
What a fantastic video! I will make one for my god daughter's bday in May. Also, you are utterly adorable and a great teacher! Thank you so much and God Bless.
I enjoyed watching your video. I know how to crochet and I am going to make this for my grandkids. I’ll make two of them. I hope I hope lol by Christmas… but also i’d like to mention I think that you were just wonderful with your instructions and I really liked listening to you and then I really really liked you when you started talking about listening to the Bible lol … I said … !!amen sister!!! you are, awesome !! 😂
God Bless !! 🙏🏻🕊️♥️👩🏻🌾
I have finished my first granny square ever! Thank you for all your instructions. Can't wait to start my cardigan 🥰🥰
Thank you so much!! I did mine in pink/purple/green/and multiple colors of the same. So beautiful!
You are a great teacher!!! Thank you for your great tutorial ❤❤
I've never crocheted until i saw this project. I hope I'm able to complete my sweater. So excited & thank you for a great tutorial.
I get such lovely comments from my family & friends when I'm wearing mine, I wear it with pride 😊 very easy patterns & fab tutorial, thankyou! I'm gonna make another xx
So the 39 squares worked for you? As I don’t know how big her squares are, I think mine are too small. I need another row of squares everywhere; sleeves, back and front. Its way too short! So I need a total of 54!!! Back to making squares 😢
@@nickywalton2403 mine came up smaller because stupidly I used a smaller hook, ended up around 50, my cardi is my pride and joy x
You are a great teacher! Thank you for your help to continue my crocheting journey.
Im also new to crochet and 62 year old, but you have made this video very easy to understand. Thankyou
Thank you so much! I made two of these over the winter and spring and I am a beginner. Never crocheted a granny square in my life. Your method of teaching and showing is so straight forward you make it so much easier to comprehend. I a full figure woman who is also tall so I did add a bit more to the length and the arms worked perfect. Thanks again! Can’t wait to wear these in the fall and winter
Another beautiful granny square project.
This one is on my list.
Great how you explained it all. So easy to follow. 👌
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial 👏
Greetings from Belgium.
I agree and this video makes me want to go through my stash and see what I can use up . I have seen videos of these types of jumpers/cardigans with posh names but, this is just the ticket for a stash buster (with a side trip to my favourite yarn shop, mind you a trip to any yarn shop is dangerous. Dangerous for my bank account!)
Hello!! Thank you for watching!
😂 yes it is dangerous!! Good luck!
Best granny Square tutorial I have ever seen.❤️❤️
Wow! Thank you so much!!
Thank you for this really clear tutorial. It’s very well explained and filmed. ❤
WOW! What an amazing pattern! Love your color choices/combinations!!! You are a gifted teacher! Thank you for sharing your talent creating Granny Squares with all your subscribers! WELL DONE!
This video is absolutely AMAZING 😍😍😍🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰🥰💓💓 thank you so much for making my dream come true of learning to make a sweater like that 😍🙏🏻
I have just come across this video. I love these squares and the way you are showing them. Thank you.
Thank you Emily Ann ! I just finished my sweater and I absolutely love it. I used all scrap yarn for squares. I have very long arms and torso so I added a row of squares to body and sleeves. I live in northeast Texas and am currently happy it’s a bit chilly so I can wear my sweater now. Already thinking about another in a lighter weight yarn for summer wear. Again thank you for this video that gave me the courage to make one for myself. 😀
Absolutely beautiful. Great clear instructions ❤
You are such a good teacher 👏👏👏👏I’m new to crochet you explain sooo well and you demonstrate the stitch at a good pace that I can keep up. You have made my day 💐 thank you 🙏
This is absolutely precious and so my style!! I have been so nervous to try to crochet but this video gave me the inspo and push I needed!! I can’t wait to try to recreate a cute sweater like this and of course start with granny squares!!! Hehe I’m so excited 💕💕🌸🌸💐✨
Lovely! I’ve always made flat pieces, blankets to pot holders, because I was intimidated by the thought of making wearables. I’m so inspired by your sweater! I know I can do this!! Thank you ❤
Oh my goodness! Your video is so clear and easy to follow. I made a square up last night its a work in progress as some of the yarn was too thin, choosing colour over yarn weight. Thank you for making the video :-)
Beautiful. Thanks so much for teaching us how to do it ❤
Thank you so much on this wonderful video how to crochet a granny square sweater. I follow quite a a lot crochet videos on You tube and I scan say yours one is among my favourite. Instructions are very clear and you patience is great… I did my fist square today and i looking forward to make more. Thank you for this great video again….
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! My first ever crochet project is almost complete. On the last step and I love it so much!
Excited to try this with some of my grandma's granny squares I inherited!! Practice sweater ;-) THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Very easy instructions 🙂
So amazing!!! thank you for taking the time out to show us how to do this beautiful sweater. My grandmother showed me how to crochet years ago as a kid but I never made anything to wear. I’m so excited because I’m going to make a sweater. Blessings to you❤️🌹
That is amazing! Good luck
This was my first big crochet project, and I just finished!! I added an extra row for length and LOVE IT! Thank you so much! 💕
Well done girl, my favorite part is that the project done while listening the Bible app, at the beginning I didn't know why I am looking this video, because I am perfectionists there was lot wasn't done right way (in my opinion), I don't know why I did keep watching and at the end I had tears in my eyes, God showed me that His blessings what matters not my opinion or anybody elses.
Keep the good work May God bless you and your family and works of yor hand❣
Thank you so much for sharing this! I just finished mine and it came out so cute!! Your teaching method was very easy to follow! You are awesome!!
This is the best visual and oral description I have seen!
Thank you so much! That’s very encouraging
I worked my 1st square while watching this video... I will be making 38 more to make me a sweater. Thank you for sharing ...
Thank You For Sharing Your Beautiful Sweater. And it was explained very well.
I am definitely going to make this! Just need more of the right weight yarn. I have an abundance of DK but not enough worsted. 😂 It’s beautiful and not an intimidating project for someone getting back into crochet after years of neglecting the hobby! ❤
I'm the same, but going to use DK, think just need to make more squares - well that's my plan, hope it works though, as it's lovely
I hope this is helpful. You will have no problem at all if you make each square 5 inches by 5 inches. That is the size she made. Then your sweater will come out the same. Good Luck. 👍
Also, maybe you can just make an extra round. I hope this helps. 🧶
I went and purchased the wool today! Going to start on it this evening! Cannot wait to see it finished 😍 you explain it so well, it's given me the confidence to try! ❤
This is just gorgeous! I am gonna make this! Never crocheted before but I’m hopeful! Thanks
I believe in you!! Good luck
Thank you so much for this incredible tutorial! I decided back in January I wanted to try to crochet as a personal project while in school to become a midwife! I had never even held a crochet hook before, but you explained everything so well and made it easy to follow along! I finished my first sweater back in April and have sent so many complete strangers to this video after getting lots of compliments on it genuinely every time I wear it out! I’m now back again to make one for my mother in law!
Perfect timing for me finding this video. I have a tub full of Cabbage Choice I want to use up and this the perfect project. Great instruction.
Yay!! Have fun!
Thank you💕
I so appreciate how easy you made that.
This is perfect for beginners! I have all mine sewn together but it’s short so I’m adding 15 squares! Proving to be an extremely simple fix. 😁 great first big project for me!
Hi, I wrote a few days ago so this is an update. Made a hdc border around each square to make apx 5x5. Joined the shoulders. Now I have decided to lengthen both the body and the sleeves. I am a little on the tall side and feel that even with the trim and cuffs, I would prefer more length - and full length sleeves in any case. So making at least 15 more squares!
So glad I found this video. I have never crocheted but yet I managed to complete the granny square. I did have to rewind that last part ALOT but your instruction was so very thorough. I am going to attempt to make this sweater❤️
I’m currently doing this with a 4mm hook and quite thin yarn. I’m gonna be making squares for awhile 😂
They are small squares and 7*5 was what I needed for just the back panel.
I think it’s gonna look great but oh dear.
Still l am crocheting me and Cardigan I am very blessed to be able to sew up the granny squares again cuz come to find out l have to leave out the top of the middle square and and add some more granny squares to both of the sleeves 😮
