But Windows 11 works better on my latest built desktop PC 🤔 Also No Linux distro I tried can utilize my GPU as good as Windows 11 does it. But yes if I had a 5/6+ year old computer I'd use Linux on it because Linux is more lightweight.
@@sifatullah-pe2xe windows only good for gaming (Linux accelerating in this space) and some priority apps (adobe) even tho mac have them beat in most of those areas 💀
As a former Ubuntu user, I really like this video! I started my Linux Journey with Ubuntu MATE back in the mid-2010s and I really did like that distro. Even though I don't use it, and I'm not sure how I feel about it Ubuntu always have a special place in my heart
I first installed kubuntu 2 years ago That was my first experience with Linux I'm still on kubuntu today Although I did switch to a tiling window manager called qtile But I still heavily rely on kde apps
I started with Ubuntu which I don't use anymore, but Ubuntu Mate is for me the best one on the family cause the DE is versatile, powerful and easily to personalize, all at the same time, in my opinion.
i discovered ubuntu around 2013... and i really liked how fast it was with unity desktop... i still use ubuntu unity, but i'm tempted to try lubuntu now...
I perfere Ubuntu Mate. its just easier to use and looks good. putting Ubuntu on older machines keeps them going and helps people afford computers. why buy new when there are tons on older machines that work perfectly good!
MATE is nostalgic because I started using Ubuntu when it looked like that. Unity as well because I used Ubuntu a lot around that time. Kubuntu is my new favourite though. But any of them are usable and I’m trying to learn to do more via the terminal anyway.
I know it's unofficial and you probably limited yourself to the official Ubuntu flavours to keep away from tangents but Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix is fantastic. Linux Mint's flagship desktop environment but everything else behind the scenes is mainline Ubuntu. I think it could have fit into the retrospective section of flavours, but again since it is not an official flavour, it's understandable that it wasn't listed.
As you said, it falls outside the scope of this particular video, but I definitely do plan on making another video highlighting other flavors and the popular Ubuntu derivatives.
@@aaronprisk Let’s goooo! Can’t wait to check it out. I’m sure you already know about v24 release notes, but moving to snap packages has been… challenging lol. As an existing Budgie user, getting the old software store replaced with the new snap store was a huge headache, I even considered a fresh install of the whole DE.
Thank you! I only covered the 8 official flavors in this video to help keep the time down a little. I would love to make one on some of the other spins and remixes out there.
Ubuntu,Debian,Mint,Zorin, are nowadays only for high spec systems. Im running LM mate, but i will try kylin. And im not asian hi. I liked the old windows 7 desktop themes. Ubuntu and Debian never gave me issues. Only there ugly desktops and they needed a good fast CPU.
Kubuntu works great on my 10 year old laptop nice and light. 🎉😊. Better than windows 10.
Kubuntu is a great flavor. Proof that you can be both fancy and fast!

Well done, and helpful... I've been an Ubuntu user since 2004 and still learned from your video. You have a new sub, thanks!

Thank you!! That's the vibe I was shooting for.
I don't use Ubuntu anymore, but this is a nice tour of the flavors of Ubuntu!
Thank you! I really appreciate that.
Why not
@@eobardthawnemcoc Snaps and the 6 month release cycle. I prefer rolling releases (I use Arch BTW).

I wish they offered something like _Gubuntu_ with vanilla GNOME
There is actually a meta package you can install that will effectively give you a vanilla GNOME experience:
vanilla-gnome-desktop
