Believe it or not. They didn’t have a drummer at this time. So they used the tech that was available and did a synth track for the drums. Which is why it sounds so 80’s. Pretty cool little fact, I thought.
I went down a huge musical rabbit hole over the past few months. I started with researching which drum machine was used in this song...found it to be the LM-1. Then, started finding which artists used the LM-1, and I found Prince, Madonna, and several other 80s bands. Was never a Prince fan, but after watching and reading interviews from his engineer, I became really interested and listened to his whole catalogue. I found that Ville derived A LOT of inspiration from Prince, especially his vocals and the poetic lyrics. It seems the skeleton of HIM songs really pulls heavily from popular 80s music, whereas the rhythm section comes almost completely from Black Sabbath, then Linde was sparked by Toni Iommi, but found his own unique sound over the years.
The whole song, with the electronic drums and the synthesizers, feels perfect to what the OG Razorblade Romance was going to sound (like an 80's Glam Rock album). I really love this song because it's the only one that didn't made it in the released album 💜💜💜
Because that's how our generation listened and shared music in a way besides albums. I love visiting the same videos from back then like, uploaded 14 years ago or smth because its literally a time capsule and its so bittersweet
I LOVE this song so much, one of my all-time favorites!
2023 and still a banger :)

@@austint9855 I remember they had trouble with drummers in the beginning, but had no idea that this whole demo was synth drums, that's awesome!
