For context, it seems that the entire house has been cursed for a long time. The darkness can either kill or possess anyone in their way. The creatures seem to be part of the curse as well. From the looks of it, there are technically two outcomes. Either you succumb to the curse itself (by killing everyone) or purify it (by saving everyone from their potential deaths) before your Dad comes home.
You don't have to kill anyone, not even the giant rat. For the cat, you can give it the milk, then use the water bucket to put out the fire at the piano room. Cat's safe and sound.

I'm assuming that if you leave the toilet alone the creepy girl from within the bowl kills your sister I also think there is zero sense in murdering the pet
Plot twist: the cat is actually the demon/eldritch abomination/paranormal whatever that put the curse in the first place, that's why the girl kills it everytime.
I have a question though, who is the dead guy in the basement? He does not look like the father or does not resemble anyone in the game... Edit: I just saw the part where she mentions toby the neighbor's kid, but why is he dead in the basement?

This reminds me of that lovecraft's story. With creepy cursed house, and succubus-maid. Fortunately that curse, like most things in our worls, was weak to fire.
@@shockedkirby6368 Unfortunately i can't seem to remember. When i've finally got my hands on the Lovecraft's books, i've gulped most of them in one go. What i remember about this particular one, is that a young man with his his bride (?) stayed in a creeapy house with a hole, that is a some sort of a 4th-dimentional pocket space, or smth. Also there were a creepy maid, that is actually a succubus. And also his uncle tried to kill him. It could be another relative, but with Lovecraft, it's 90% murderous uncles.
perhaps you are thinking of "dreams in the witch house"? never read any lovecraft stories with a succubus maid though, and I'm pretty familiar with his work

I love how we’re getting back to the basics with video games. As AAA companies continue committing seppuku, indie devs are taking off with some incredible titles. Well done.
This seems VERY heavily inspired by Lakeview Cabin. They share the same survival-horror premise of trying to save everyone from horrible monsters, and the same trial-and-error puzzle mechanics.
This sort of has coraline vibes but this is a really cool game it’s not something u see often... a little girl going against her own family mutating into horrors, the closest thing I could think of is that old school gretel and hansel series
The lights on/off music reminds me of the overworld/spectral realm music from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Cool and nice to listen to (on) with a distorted and uneasy side (off).
I love the indie horror games that have that feel of a RPGMaker/WolfRPG Maker horror game. They always have some weird abstract things with the environments and characters so that every time you think nothing is out of the usual or you're out of a bad situation, you find out things are not as they seem.
I had the same feeling when I watched spirited away the first time, there was an intense feeling, and strange memories lkke fragments, it felt and seemed so fucking real. It felt like I had seen the movie before during my childhood. Which obviously was impossible.
I think this is a prequel or reboot of the newgrounds flash game that goes by the same name, it was a pretty popular game when it first came out so you probably played that and didn't remember the name
from how I see it, in the demo the father is the monster and because we see his corpse here, the house is caught in a sort of a curse where they’re in a loop that in which if they die, they’ll turn into undead/monsters so the little girl has to either save them or relive the loop again I haven’t watched this video yet though Edit:aight turns out that’s not the father in the basement scratch that I have no idea what the fuck I’m talking about
@@somelolicon293 the dad most likely killed the kid in what i'm assuming is his study (wouldn't a basement be in one of the side rooms as opposed to his room only? also explains the desk and chair). i'm unsure if the father is an alcoholic or not or if maybe he drank and the house then took advantage of his lower will to make him kill toby, but it seems to be implied with the bottle in the study and the bottle on top of his closet. we also know there's alcohol in the house as the mother drinks a bottle of wine after making the sandwiches and passes out in the kitchen as a result.

Everyone is going on about the dad in the basement. But it's clearly meant to be a 'Hugo' sort of situation. That Simpsons episode where Bart has a twin brother lockes up in the attic and is fed fish heads. This looks like its meant to be another family member that was locked away out of sight for some reason and you put him out of his misery.
No the person in the basement is their neighbor. He is already dead (hence the flies around his body) and you use the axe to cut his hand to obtain the slingshot.

Definitely proves that games don’t have to have “high quality ultra realistic” graphics to still be visually terrifying (not even counting the story and concepts)
What a fantastic ambiance this game has. Love it. So uncanny, in a really good way. Especially love how the giant rat at first just mutilates you (or you do it), but you can just easily befriend it with a sandwich
*Here's my theory:* the little girl is mentally ill and had violent urges, and after losing control one day, she killed her entire family, except her father. After realizing what she had done, she instantly felt guilt, sorrow, and regret... As for the father, he ended up coming home to a horrific scene that was once his family, now nothing more than a bloodbath, except for his daughter that was apparently still alive. Upon witnessing a traumatizing scene, he blamed his daughter for the death of his wife, and his other daughter. Without a second thought, he killed his own daughter without remorse, and in cold-blood. So, he then proceeded to take his own life because he couldn't live with himself anymore, especially after what he had just done, and witnessed. He felt like he had nothing left in this world, and he wanted nothing more than a release... Now as for the the little girl, she is currently in a state of limbo, where her soul is being judged. As for the judgement, the little girl is being forced to relive the moment she killed her mother, and sister, in an attempt to allow her to make things right. And as for the father, he is doomed to an eternity in hell, and is being forced to relive the moment he willingly killed his own daughter... *Evidence to back up my theory:* The little girl waking up in her bed everytime she gets brutally murdered can be seen as her unable to die because she is already dead. The little girl fighting to survive the monstrosities trying to kill her, can be seen as her trying to redeem herself, and get out of limbo. The father repeatedly coming home with a knife in his hands can be seen as the moment right before he killed her, and him being stuck in a perpetual state of eternal torment. The mystery man at the end of each alternate ending can be seen as the devil, trying to win her soul, by attempting to convince the little girl it will never end unless she does what he wants. The monster in the toilet can be seen as a demon trying to help the devil, by convincing the girl the only way out is more blood. The other shape-shifting monsters can be seen as manifestations of the little girl's guilt, sorrow, and regret. As for the father breaking down at the official ending of the game, this can be seen as him finally being set free from his torment, and possibly forgiven for his sins... Edit: Lol this took me almost 2 hours and a half to create this crazy ass theory! I put a lot of thought, and effort into it...

Now, unfortunately I can't show you any details because I don't want someone stealing my ideas, so for right now, I am keeping it a secret. However, I estimate that it might take me bout 4-5 years from now, until it is complete. But perhaps, it may one day become a success videogame and novel. Who knows? @@shockedkirby6368 Unfortunately i can't seem to remember. When i've finally got my hands on the Lovecraft's books, i've gulped most of them in one go.
What i remember about this particular one, is that a young man with his his bride (?) stayed in a creeapy house with a hole, that is a some sort of a 4th-dimentional pocket space, or smth.
Also there were a creepy maid, that is actually a succubus.
And also his uncle tried to kill him. It could be another relative, but with Lovecraft, it's 90% murderous uncles.

This seems VERY heavily inspired by Lakeview Cabin. They share the same survival-horror premise of trying to save everyone from horrible monsters, and the same trial-and-error puzzle mechanics.
This soundtrack gives such a serene climate, it's like those calm rainy and foggy mornings.

The lights on/off music reminds me of the overworld/spectral realm music from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Cool and nice to listen to (on) with a distorted and uneasy side (off).
I love the indie horror games that have that feel of a RPGMaker/WolfRPG Maker horror game. They always have some weird abstract things with the environments and characters so that every time you think nothing is out of the usual or you're out of a bad situation, you find out things are not as they seem.
Seeing how this game changed in years it's strange, I remember that the sister was locked in the room and the mother wasn't in the game.
And the toilet wasn’t so lethal.

I had the same feeling when I watched spirited away the first time, there was an intense feeling, and strange memories lkke fragments, it felt and seemed so fucking real. It felt like I had seen the movie before during my childhood. Which obviously was impossible.

I think this is a prequel or reboot of the newgrounds flash game that goes by the same name, it was a pretty popular game when it first came out so you probably played that and didn't remember the name

I think there's a curse on the house that turns the family into monsters. So the girl has to either help or kill them.
from how I see it, in the demo the father is the monster and because we see his corpse here, the house is caught in a sort of a curse where they’re in a loop that in which if they die, they’ll turn into undead/monsters so the little girl has to either save them or relive the loop again

@@somelolicon293 the dad most likely killed the kid in what i'm assuming is his study (wouldn't a basement be in one of the side rooms as opposed to his room only? also explains the desk and chair). i'm unsure if the father is an alcoholic or not or if maybe he drank and the house then took advantage of his lower will to make him kill toby, but it seems to be implied with the bottle in the study and the bottle on top of his closet. we also know there's alcohol in the house as the mother drinks a bottle of wine after making the sandwiches and passes out in the kitchen as a result.

Everyone is going on about the dad in the basement. But it's clearly meant to be a 'Hugo' sort of situation. That Simpsons episode where Bart has a twin brother lockes up in the attic and is fed fish heads.
This looks like its meant to be another family member that was locked away out of sight for some reason and you put him out of his misery.
No the person in the basement is their neighbor. He is already dead (hence the flies around his body) and you use the axe to cut his hand to obtain the slingshot.

@@80TheMadLord08 Because the cursed family killed their neighbor. That's why the mom was boarding up that room so her daughters wouldn't see the body hidden underground. Also explains her shock at her daughter holding the slingshot from the neighbor's body.

Definitely proves that games don’t have to have “high quality ultra realistic” graphics to still be visually terrifying (not even counting the story and concepts)

What a fantastic ambiance this game has. Love it. So uncanny, in a really good way. Especially love how the giant rat at first just mutilates you (or you do it), but you can just easily befriend it with a sandwich
*Here's my theory:* the little girl is mentally ill and had violent urges, and after losing control one day, she killed her entire family, except her father. After realizing what she had done, she instantly felt guilt, sorrow, and regret...
As for the father, he ended up coming home to a horrific scene that was once his family, now nothing more than a bloodbath, except for his daughter that was apparently still alive. Upon witnessing a traumatizing scene, he blamed his daughter for the death of his wife, and his other daughter. Without a second thought, he killed his own daughter without remorse, and in cold-blood. So, he then proceeded to take his own life because he couldn't live with himself anymore, especially after what he had just done, and witnessed. He felt like he had nothing left in this world, and he wanted nothing more than a release...
Now as for the the little girl, she is currently in a state of limbo, where her soul is being judged. As for the judgement, the little girl is being forced to relive the moment she killed her mother, and sister, in an attempt to allow her to make things right. And as for the father, he is doomed to an eternity in hell, and is being forced to relive the moment he willingly killed his own daughter...
*Evidence to back up my theory:* The little girl waking up in her bed everytime she gets brutally murdered can be seen as her unable to die because she is already dead. The little girl fighting to survive the monstrosities trying to kill her, can be seen as her trying to redeem herself, and get out of limbo. The father repeatedly coming home with a knife in his hands can be seen as the moment right before he killed her, and him being stuck in a perpetual state of eternal torment. The mystery man at the end of each alternate ending can be seen as the devil, trying to win her soul, by attempting to convince the little girl it will never end unless she does what he wants. The monster in the toilet can be seen as a demon trying to help the devil, by convincing the girl the only way out is more blood. The other shape-shifting monsters can be seen as manifestations of the little girl's guilt, sorrow, and regret. As for the father breaking down at the official ending of the game, this can be seen as him finally being set free from his torment, and possibly forgiven for his sins...
Edit: Lol this took me almost 2 hours and a half to create this crazy ass theory! I put a lot of thought, and effort into it...
The "mystery man" you mentioned is the doll. Whether or not the doll is supposed to be Satan is still up for interpretation. Just wanted to clarify.

@@FakeLLama23 Yes, actually in fact, I am! Also, I am currently working on developing a game which I created, and I keep writing more and more ideas down in my transcript. So far I have wrote everything in cursive, and it has spanned at least 20-30 pages long. Also, whilst I'm doing this, I'm simultaneously working on a novel at the same time based on my video game transcript!
Now, unfortunately I can't show you any details because I don't want someone stealing my ideas, so for right now, I am keeping it a secret. However, I estimate that it might take me bout 4-5 years from now, until it is complete. But perhaps, it may one day become a success videogame and novel. Who knows? Also, I'm not doing it 24/7, just as a hobby...

@@mr.lostrythm7876 The body in the basement was Toby, the neighbor boy, owner of the slingshot. I surmised all of this information simply by paying attention to the dialogue. I've never played this game before.
