There's a saying do what you love and the money will follow. When I was 18 I heard a saying Choose your rut wisely, you'll be in it the next 40 years. Gambling with your future can be tough Potting a few veggies on the side of your house and perhaps building a raised bed for more sustainable food should not be too terribly big of a decision. Composting, collecting rain water to water your new built raised bed, scoring some solar panels one or two a month till you meet your needs? Windmill? etc.
Beautiful. I am so ready to go and desperatly looking for some people to start a community garden with. It seems the time is ripe for this change and to work with our mother earth instead of against her. I hope to find some people in my area soon.

I think our affluent lifestyles are totally dependent on the one-time bonanza of cheap fossil fuels. All of the alternative sources put together can't match oil. And we squandered our opportunity after the 1970s US peak oil, to really develop alternatives into mature replacement energy sources. And oil isn't the only resource that's peaking. And coal would be disastrous climate-wise. So I think we will need to live with less--conserving, efficiency, sharing, emphasizing quality over quantity.
Nature is conservative. You would struggle to find a plant that is photosynthesizes at an efficiency of 1%. Bamboos come close. Philosophically we need to do more with less, post-peak, like the rest of nature.
I don't thing it is a matter of living with less. I think it is a matter of learning how to keep what we have and improve how we live while changing how we go about making it and using it. That is why I have such a problem with Climate Change, it takes so much that could be focused on better ways to make what we need and want. Better ways to provide the fuel and energy to live in a manner that is at least close to what we have now if not even better.
Amazing hearted man. Good initiative. We need more people like this guy.

hey Vel, long time no talk to, how are you?

All very lovely but I don't have 10 quid let alone a 1000 quid for courses like this...

Is it just me, or does everyone on this show seem like they're really annoyed by this lady?
