@@888jucu true if the bikes are similar weight. but the weight differences here are huge. the trike riders must be really decrepid to be slower than a velo on a hill lol
@@andy-the-gardener Some of the trike riders may be beginners. Some of them may have just had a hard race earlier and didn't have the legs for this race. Also, some of them may have other more important things going on in their lives than riding a bike. You can't expect every rider to be a 4w/kg rider in the race. There is always someone faster than you and it's not too cool to call a slower rider decrepid unless you allow yourself to be called that by those who are faster ;)
@@casualguy393 it must have been 'something' i suppose lol. but it begs the question...why was the velomobile rider not similarly afflicted. your explanation doesn't really solve anything. if there were loads more velos than trikes then maybe probability wise, a velo would win up a hill. but if there was more trikes, its definitely odd a trike wouldnt be faster, everything else being equal. and its worth noting.

You can't draw any conclusions about why a velo was beating a trike up the hill other than the velo rider was putting out more watts per kg. You can't say why the trike rider wasn't going faster unless you talk to the trike rider. On a good day I can put out 3.6w/kg and on a bad day it is 3w/kg. If I show up to the starting line to race you and keep my mouth shut you won't know how fast I am going to go, and you wouldn't have known my watt/kg unless I told you. What it looks like is that the trikes started first, and the velos second. The trikes you see getting passed are those who are the slower riders of all the trikes. Why they are slower could be any number of reasons neither you nor I know.
