@Pepepper MOTP was a movie not a series episode aired on mainstream TV. If that movie had 3 on screen deaths. Chucky sol died accidentally. Bronsky by statue, Celestia by joker toxin. This censor movement is best example in Spiderman TAS which - Spidey never punched a single person. - smashed a glass window - no firearms, used Laser guns, scifi weapons.
Actually, first one was in Mask of Phantasm. It has more mature rating i guess, i started watching TNBA today and realised that people here use terms "kill", "death", "killing", "die", there is sometimes blood and deaths like in Mask of Phantasm.
"The Harley and The Ivy" segment of this episode was originally animated closer to the comic, with Harley in much shorter underwear. "We actually had to go back and give them boxers," noted Dan Riba. "It was surprisingly only about 3 or 4 shots, but we had to retake 3 or 4 shots and somebody had to draw boxer shorts on top of their little, whatever they're wearing."
This was actually a bunch of stories from the Animated Series tie-in comic. It was collected in with Mad Love and one of the behind the scenes had a rejected idea from the Batgirl story that they story boarded showing Barbara changing into her costume in the middle of the crowd running away. It became her using a changing room instead.
I love how much Aaron loves Renée Montoya, and like I’ve said in previous episodes, she goes through an amazing arc in the comic books that I hope gets translated to a form of media that Aaron consumes soon.
You need to also watch the rest of the Bruce Timm DCAU (watch in order of air date), including Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, The Zeta Project, Return of the Joker, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Mystery of the Batwoman, and the tie-in comics and video games.
@@Mephisto-jp7de Nah at minimum they'd need to also watch any episodes involving Darkseid or Braniac. Ntm all the episodes that introduce future members of the Justice League.
Some like to claim that she's a clone due to the new design. But every character has a new design, even in the flashback scenes that predate the previous seasons.
Definitely prefer this one to Christmas with the Joker. Great way to introduce lots of the new character designs at once, and as seen with Arkham Origins the juxaposition of Christmas with Gotham's typical grimness is just funny in a lot of ways.
Gotta say Tara Strong is better as Batgurl then Harley Quinn and man i did miss the style of thr old show but it feels more clearer and form fitting....like man they really aged down Ivy from a woman to a maybe college girl! Still a fun episode and i liled the whole segments all take plave within the same week and it ends with a mice scene with Jim and Batman drinking coffee together! Joker was fun as a baddie as always....i wasnt a big complainer for his new look....he looks more like freakazoid
I liked the new designs as a kid but man, seeing it so soon after the originals being an adult...it's just so inferior. Ivy, Joker, Croc, Bullock, Riddler....the list goes on. The more "realistic" artstyle just works.
Fun fact, it is strongly implied, if not outright tasted, in a tie in comic that this version of Poison Ivy is one of her plant clones and the real one has settled down somewhere to live a quiet life. Hence her green skin and ability to control plants which the original didn’t have
@@denickart Which next design are you talking about? Spoilers I guess His justice league design or his batman beyond design? Because the latter came first.
the ivy and harley one was fun also continues the hints of there relationship (im mean there sharing a bed in a hotel come on) my only issue is ivy and the tree that was a weak defeat

Didn't Joker kill Valestra in Mask of the Phantasm with the toxin?

I don't know how they'd stagger the schedules, but seeing this era of Batman really makes me pine for them to start Superman the Animated Series.
because they go by the HBO Max schedule

Commissioner James Gordon: Close one this time.
Batman: They're all close ones.

Superman, Beyond, Beyond movie, and Justice League is most important
@@Mercurial_Phantom maybe I'm just not a completist but I would even just do the world's finest from Superman and go straight to JL

Zeta can be skipped since it barely has anything DCAU related besides a single crossover episode and it ends on a massive cliffhanger
I do hope Eric catches up on this. I bet he'd love these 3 mini-stories
Yes, it was Ron Perlman. He also voices Clayface.
Calvin and Aaron both make comments about Clayface that, if memory serves, will be relevant to an upcoming episode.
GROWING PAINS
@@ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΑ-ε1ω Yes, that is the episode I am thinking of.
The goon was Ron as he also voices Clayface.
I did not miss seeing that appearance of the joker.
Everything else is great but… man that face.
Ivy seemed more energetic in this episode. Maybe spending time with Harley is helping her to unwind and enjoy herself more.

I LOVE this episode! I watch it every year for Christmas and the last segment for New Year’s Eve!
This is my favorite Batman Christmas episode of anything & I love watching this one every December along with Christmas with The Joker.
Bullock really is the funniest he has ever been this episode
Barbara suiting while no one sees her drees up.
was homage to original holiday comic
A fan favorite episode.

A further detail that hinted at “Harlivy” is their bedroom. Just the one bed between them.
God what were they smoking to go with that Joker design
Surprised they didn't really talk about it but yeah.... Joker's redesign sucked balls. Getting rid of the lips and stuff were very poor choices.
I don’t know I quite it. Eyes make him look demonic
Disagree personally. I like both designs.
Honestly I think I prefer it over the previous design. His next design is the best overall tho

Hands down a perfect holiday episode 😃
it was aa Christmas episode, and you missed the chance to sing the Harley and the Ivy.

It's been way too long since y'all watched a DC animated movie!!!

WORST JOKER DESIGN EVER
