@@thecontingency4509 ACKTUALLY and no. It was considered more painful to plow straight through Maginot however the issue was time. The thinking was to win they had to hold Russia and crush France making Belgium the only way to do it. In hindsight, they had the ability to crush Russia and could bleed the French whenever the left the safety of the Maginot. Even so by the end of the war there were so many innovations in air power, artillery, even without tanks Germany was eventually going to get through without the Allied zerg rush that followed the invasion of Belgium. And they did get through in places moving in concentric waves while they never completely conquered Belgium.
france was protecting its borders from germany so the germans was gonna struggle so they had to invade belgium so they could surround the french in the border and easily take them out and now invade the rest and it failed
