    I'm digging this score very much. Can't wait to download it from Amazon.

    Actually that's what I was waiting. Because there are no more themes with personal identificactions as strong as it was before. The last score I loved so much because of that reason is The Avengers. (And I don't know why I speak you in English, if we both are Spanish speakers haha)

    at 1:24, it sounds like a suite from John Williams. I love it!

    that's exactly what I thought, Superman! Like it's a nice theme, but don't know if it fits SPiderMan...but I mean I guess we'll see how it works with the footage on screen.

    Love James Horner, especially for his work on Aliens, Braveheart, and Titanic. But I find Elfman's work on the first Spidey movie to be a better, more original effort in general. Horner's new themes feel less inspired and more... well, as I've seen said elsewhere, "Disney-like". Elfman's score simply had a more distinct sound to it, and though his work in the subsequent sequels wasn't as well-done (mostly because he seemed to retread so much old ground), it's still more memorable and fitting.

    in all honesty i love this score and the score from sam raimi's spiderman movies. i do think i liked the score in raimi's films just a bit better. but this is still fantastic, and in general i liked the Amazing Spiderman much better than the original. just my opinion.

    You haven't even seen the film yet, so you have no ability to judge whether a cue from the score works in the film or not. Wait until the movie comes out, and you'll probably change your mind.

    I was surprised to find myself enjoying the film very much, and Horner's excellent score certainly played a part in that. For some reason, I found it more effective than Danny Elfman's, even though I am a fan of his.

    Ok, let me educate you.. James Horner has been doing this kind of stuff since the 70s... and I don't know about you, but that's a LONG time. He's trained classically... He orchestrates and conducts the WHOLE thing, and you say it RUINS it... I know I can't change your opinion, but you have to know that James Horner is the REAL deal. He knows what he's doing... He knows how to make an emotional score beginning to end... I'm sorry that you can't appreciate that.

  • @iramaloneofficial
    @iramaloneofficial 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry, James Horner is gunna deliver a score that has a MELODY!!! I don't know if any of you people have ever heard of that, but when I was growing up movies had THEMES with MELODY!!! Droning low brass and dark electric guitar isn't much compared to stuff like this!!! This is instant classic stuff!!! Sorry, not trying to sound harsh, but I get tired of ignorant people bashing the composers that ACTUALLY know what they're doing when scoring a film.

  • @iramaloneofficial
    @iramaloneofficial 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know right... I wish SO bad that scores now-a-days would have a classic memorable melody than just droning and blasts of low brass... James Horner has a theme for this film... and I like it! I'm not saying every score should sound the same... It's like composers and directors don't like memorable themes these days... It sucks! I remember when I was a kid, almost every blockbuster had a memorable theme!!! Ugh.

  • @MortenJohnsenSolberg
    @MortenJohnsenSolberg 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think Elfman pretty much nailed what Spider-Man should sound like. The use of percussion and electronic pieces nicely complemented the arachni elements of the character. James Horner must have realized this since his score closely mimics that of Elfman's, even to the extent of having much of the same note progression in the main theme. Either way, it sounds like a good soundtrack, even if a bit generic. Elfman didn't exactly create a hummable superhero theme like Williams did for Superman, bu

    I'm a HUGE Horner fan, and have been pretty much forever. I used to like Zimmer, but all of his scores sound the same: the same bombastic, big brass, all-for-show, style. I say that about Zimmer's recent scores. I just love how Horner is a master of matching the music's emotion to the scene and characters. Finding that perfect balance between emotion, personal style, technique, and the film is very difficult and I believe Horner is the best (no matter what people say about his self-plagiarism).

  • @wildone106
    @wildone106 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    10000% agree..while watching the movie I was just DYING for the theme to rise and fucking just hit me in the face to match what spidey was doing..but..it..didn't...FLAT. UGH!!!

    Immensely disappointed in one sense, because I was hoping for a powerhouse emotional score, this seems flimsy. I hoped he could deliver what Zimmer and Howard did for the Batman movies. It does grow on me, and there are some redeeming cues from this. I will not judge it on this basis therefore. Hopefully Horner can still deliver something that does the webhead justice :) Here's hoping.

    How on earth could you expect James Horner, who is very traditional both in his compositional sensibilities and training, to write anything resembling Inception? I don´t understand why every movie these days have to have scores that are little more than droning and blasts of low brass (like Inception). I can understand it in Nolan´s Batman movies, as the ambiguity of the character is also presented in the music, but that doesn´t mean every single blockbuster needs to emulate that sound.

    @apeltala 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice! My theory is the theme bookends it. Plenty of reference to Elfman's old work (which I really liked though stopped just short of loving) which kind of surprises me because I thought the only person Horner referenced (read, ripped off) in his music was John Williams (and I say this as a Horner fan).
    I'm really excited about hearing the full soundtrack of this. This is James Horner's first superhero work since "The Rocketeer" and it's sounding pretty good so far. My fingers are crossed.

    So I've been following the progress of this film ever since it was announced in January 2010, on a daily basis. I go to the sneak peek screenings, I get super excited at the footage, the talent behind the film and the whole new fresh direction the franchise is going in. And then the music ruins it all! Music can change a film/ product and if this music is the real deal, it has ruined the film for me, as a film goer and a huge Spider-Man fan. GET MARK PETRIE TO SCORE THE WHOLE FILM!

  • @cjcool91
    @cjcool91 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    But the webshooters in the movie don't seem to run out so what is the point of having them?....makes no sense anyways...how can a kid make an super elastic adhesive capable of tethering cars and other heavy items? At least in the old film they explain that the genetic altered spider that bit peter had stronger web therefore giving him stronger web.....just saying.

  • @MicelUnlimited
    @MicelUnlimited 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yea. Its pretty clear SpiderFan241 thinks James Horner is a great composer. Its also pretty clear that SpiderFan241 doesn't understand when emotional score should be used. This movie isn't one of them. I really dislike the score to this movie. There's no memorable cues or any motif in this work. The 16 note attempt of a cheesy recurring theme is lame....

  • @steven12345gerrard
    @steven12345gerrard 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    this is great but i expected a much more techno based score. This feels like a very heroic score, which is great, but it also feels a little campy. I dunno, i just expected like a lot of slow electric guitar or stuff much darker, maybe more inceptionesque. still, sounds good and im excited

  • @KayWildcat
    @KayWildcat 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hold on, are you insulting John William's iconic theme?!!
    James Horner is great, but I lost respect for your opinion once you considered such a beautifully crafted superhero theme cheesy, You must be incredibly close-minded then...

  • @spacekim1
    @spacekim1 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is the real deal. It was featured on a radio show about upcoming film scores. The track on the website however is not by Horner. It was posted to the web site before Horner even completed recording the score (just about three weeks ago, in fact)

  • @NickStedmon

    I hope the first sample isn't the main theme... it starts of like it's hinting at the old Elfman theme, then it goes weird, sounds more like a Superman theme than Spidey.

  • @cjcool91
    @cjcool91 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    This theme is not dynamic at all...just listlen to the Batman theme (Elfman) or the Superman Theme (Williams) or even the Avengers (Silversti)
