Just thought I'd mention that Parliament - Osmium - RSD 2024 was there at 7:00 listed for $49.99 (in between your mentioning of the Sister Rosetta Tharpe and the Dr. John). Great overview Bob!
Its crazy that The Great Spectacular FINALLY gets a repress. I really need that, but seems to be limited to the US. Its not on the german RSD list, sadly! Definitely gonna get the Bill Evans!
Hoping to get Hips & Makers by Kristin Hersch on 4AD includes the duet Your Ghost with Michael Stipe & Nocturne the double live Siouxsie & The Banshees ( I have the DVD 📀 ) This one has Robert Smith on guitar. Like the Bob Bradley TV 📺 !
I had to set the speed to 0.75 to get your voice right. ;-) Also kinda dangerous to release this on 4/01, I was expecting either a different selection or a different list, but I guess it would have been too much work just for the joke. The one I'm really looking forward is the Global Communication by MOV but it's not on the list (in the US at least). My local store told me they might have stuff from MOV coming for the RSD, but my hopes are not up. Plus I think it's a 1000 limited release so chances are extremely low.
For Record Store Day, check out “The Bodysnatchers” EP on RidingEasy Records. Remastered from the band’s 1978 release. Austin’s first recorded punk band. Great songs, powerful sound. Recorded and mixed live to 2tk analog tape at Pecan St. Studios.
I am very surprised you glossed over the recently added Pile Driver release. Perhaps its a regional issue. Great to see Dan from Motorsoul getting in the reissue game!
Some of these won’t be hard to find as they are record store day first. For example I’m sure the Gandalf is getting a regular release. There are some good titles but most likely I will only get one.
This list looks a little better than last years list, still not enough R&B and funk albums from the seventies. I’m definitely picking up the Jazz Dispensary collection and 100 percent dynamite comp. The Funkadelic album from 1970 is a little corky. Word of advice on some of these titles, sample before buying including the one you were pushing by Gandalf, that shit sounded really dated, just my opinion Bob..😆
The price on that single disc Pearl Jam is absurd - hard pass. The black vinyl version is $15 less on Amazon. A cool looking colored vinyl but not worth an extra $15, that's for certain. So, the store I go to for record store day has a limit of 8 titles each time through the line. They do this to discourage the "flippers". I can understand what their aim is but a think 10 is a better number. Here are my top 8: 1. Gandalf - Gandalf 2. Amboy Dukes - Journey to the Center of the Mind 3. Mal Waldron / Steve Lacy - The Mighty Warriors 4. Elton John - Caribou: 50th Anniversary 5. Jazz Dispensary - The Freedom Sound! 6. The Cranberries - Bury the Hatchet 7. Bill Evans - Everybody Digs Bill Evans 8. David Bowie - Waiting in the Sky ...and my second 8: 9. Shelly Manne - Jazz From the Northwest 10. The Doors - Live at Konserthuset 11. Yusef Lateef - Atlantis Lullaby 12. Sonny Rollins - Freedom Weaver 13. The Paper Kites - Evergreen 14. Charles Mingus - Reincarnations 15. The Roches - The Roches: 45th Anniversary 16. Gene Clark - Lost Studio Sessions 1964 - 1982 I'm a little worried about not being able to get the Shelly Manne, and I'm going to need to get in line very early to score the Gandalf.
Yep same to you hope you get everything that you want I got 4 on my list the one I really wanted was the charlie parker at JATP but hey ho can't have everything.. good hunting
The only couple things I really want are Dazed and Confused and the 1975. Maybe a few other things but regardless, nothing I'm like willing to go stand in line or get there early for. I've got a store where I can go later in the day and typically get what I wanted.
Bob, your picks are the ones I trust! Can’t wait to see what you pick up!

I appreciate your work here.
Thank you Richard!

Great preview Bob. I have 4 on my want list and will not comment further 'til they're in my grubby little hands
I totally understand!

Parliament - Osmium is for sure the no.1 on this list that I'm trying to get.....
The Dixie Dregs/Steve Morse formed at the college I did my undergrad at. Legit band. I agree with you. It’s a banger list.
Steve Morse is aces always
One release sadly we won't see in the states is the Delores O' Riordan solo release Ordinary Day. It's Europe only.
Don’t forget SRC - Detroit psych!
That Bob Frank album looks like you lol
✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
Love the Ron Burgundy intro
Much appreciated
That Gandolf album is a must have.
I think you are right … but the number is low 😏vinyl luck to you!
That Parliament record was earlier this century released on CD with the same bonustracks. So Its also possible that they used the digital transfer.
More research is needed!!!

lol epic!!!

Oh I’m limiting myself, I think 3 or four tops for me, cheers Richie!

You should have filmed this from The Honeycomb Hideout.
Shhhhhhhh Rob you know that’s a secret!
Love ya Bob. Can't listen to the double speed. People have the option to do it themselves.
All good …
