I finally let go of quite a few Christmas decorations. Actually, it is an enormous amount, and I still have plenty, which I plan on keeping. However, it gave me such a free feeling to get those out of my house and donated.
Yes, I purge every day, it seems. I don’t do a spring purge because I am handicapped, so I purge whenever I see something that needs to go. And I am being very ruthless about getting rid of things while I am still able. It’s time to pass family heirlooms that I have enjoyed on to nieces who may want them. I enjoy seeing your decluttering. It’s like distressing, isn’t it?!

We are a family of four in a house of 1000 square feet with no basement. Decluttering is a must for me too! When I begin to feel stressed in my house, I know something needs to go!
You are so wise to have this mindset now … at 74 we have accumulated so much “stuff” I am totally overwhelmed!! Please say a prayer for me that I can somehow get help to get rid of this clutter and find peace❣️. God bless you and your sweet family❣️

I have been working on purging for a while now and it does feel good!
I go thru my 'junk drawers' monthly and dispose of unwanted stuff..stuff I stuck in them just to get out of the way...makes me feel better. Take care.
Yes, a spring declutter and a fall declutter! We are still working on ours for spring, we started a bit late.
It’s funny I actually consider myself a minimalist, while still liking decor and thrifted finds etc. I used to follow the minimalism movement when it first started way back, and before it became a decor style or aesthetic, it was just about keeping things in your home that you found valuable or that brought you joy. So for me that includes vintage pitchers, for example ☺️
The guys who go by “The Minimalists” actually have an example that they use of someone who had this huge library full of books and was stressed that he felt like he had to get rid of them. But they tried to emphasize that if the books brought value to his life, then he should keep them. I find that helpful to keep in mind when I’m decluttering 🤗

It's funny because my side of the bed collects so much and I feel like my husband's stays clean and organized lol! Yes so many chargers and idk what half of them are for at this point. 😅

Regarding cords.... I place tape perpendicularly across a cord and write down what it's for with a marker / or texta here in rural South Australia 🇦🇺🇺🇸

Love seeing your process on decluttering. It helps a lot and is a never ending task to keep our homes tidy! Where did you get your tall duster on the stick to get over the doorframes, etc.?

I couldn’t agree with you more! I’m in the “less is more camp”. UNFORTUNATELY 🫤, my husband comes from a family of pack rats. He has got better in the almost 38 yrs we have been married- but, it’s still a struggle. My sis-in-law (also married into ) were just talking about this, this week. I feel that if God has blessed us with more than enough, we should share with those who are in need. Maybe He uses us to provide for and bless others. Maybe that is how we show His love in us.
