    My review of the Spyderco Resilience Lightweight with CPM S35VN steel. This knife features a very sharp 4.2 inch full flat ground blade and new lighter handle scales. The handle is big enough to accommodate even XXL size hands. The big brother of the Spyderco Tenacious, the Resilience offers a lot of reach, grind area, and edge length to work with. The blade shape is great for slicing, piercing, draw cuts, mincing, push cuts, and sheering cuts.

    I'm happy that Spyderco is upgrading their Tenacious family models. I own a Persistence and a Resilience, which have been in use for a decade now. The Resilience made for an excellent camping knife and now that I'm more home bound, it still gets lots of use in the garden, my all around Beater! The new version with improved steel and a lighter FRN handle makes for a sure winner for those needing a larger blade. Nice review.

    Good review. I’ve had one for a few months now. Makes a great beater knife. My only criticism of the S35VN Resiliance (and S35VN Tenacious) is that despite the “premium” steel, their fit/finish and feel are no different than the inexpensive 8CR13Mov FRN models. Mine has a wonky edge grind, but it’s sharp and is a solid feeling folder.

    I have one of these ordered but the package has been waiting to be "accepted by the post office" in Virginia since the 7th, and Knifecenter's customer service doesn't seem overly concerned by that. Got the Tenacious version awhile back as well.

    In my humble opinion if you gonna go small it has to be fixed. Now if you gonna depend on a lock it has to compensate by giving me reach. That's the size I think that makes sense for a folding knife if you can legally carry.

    Ya, S35VN, has my seal of approval, will take a very fine edge yet stay nice and toothy, pretty tough, hold and edge fairly well. Only recently got my own first blade in that steel. Had looked at the Spyderco, the full flat ground blade really appeals to me, makes it really slicy (#1 thing a knife needs to be able to do, at least in my book, is to be able to cut; the thicker the stock and more obtuse the grind, while maybe stronger, the less well it will cut). The Spyderco's pretty light weight for a knife of that size. Some people don't like FRN that much but i've got an ancient Schrade "clip hanger" (model CH7, U.S.A.) with very light weight Zytel scales, one of the first liner lock knives (saw the one hand open/close on that and figured better snag one before it gets outlawed). The Zytel is very similar, people complained about that back when, said it felt plasticey, coming from stuff like Buck overbuilt wood/brass folders, a hard sell. But the scales on that knife look pretty much the same as the day i bought it over 50 years ago, found the exact same knife in a graveled road that had obviously been run over by a big truck, the thumb stud was gone but the scales and blade were still fine, hardly a scratch, still worked.
    The only thing about the Spyderco, that one's made in China. That might be an issue for some these days. Myself, wound up with Cold Steel's Recon 1, a little heavier with the G10 scales, maybe not so quick to operate as the Spyderco, but is also in S35VN, about the same size (pretty big), about the same price now (got mine just under the wire before price went up) surprisingly slicy, ergos are decent and made in Taiwan. Personally, i'm of a mind to support Taiwan a bit more than China at this time. China's got some PR issues they need to work out.
    Awh, no vid of you throwing it? Abuse you say? iduhknow, way i figure, if it can't stand up to what your average 12-year-old might subject it to... ;-)

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was surprised it was made in China, most of their more expensive knives are not. Companies like Kizer bought a large amount of the CPM S35VN steel to put into their knives, so I believe it was made there because that is where a big surplus of the steel was located. But, it does help keep Crucible (US steel company) in business.

    • @scribebat
      @scribebat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WeAllJuggleKnives Yes. But it is unlikely Crucible has much to worry about. It's unfortunate, there's some pretty nice stuff at very reasonable prices coming out of China these days. Civivi, for one, clearly wants everybody's business. It would be good if one could feel proud to carry something with a 'made in China' label but we can still respect the manufacturers.
      Nice knife! Congrats! 😎

    Hey bro, good stuff there. I'd like just to ask real quick here, do you think that the Kershaw Link (in 20CV) or a button lock such as the Hic Cup by Kizer are ok for self defense, what do you think? Cheers!

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there is nothing inherently wrong with a button lock, I have an old Hogue EX01 Tanto that is a button lock, and a lot of people use it for a defense blade.

    • @ramonvelasquez8431
      @ramonvelasquez8431 ปีที่แล้ว
