it's ancestral memory. It's experiencing something beautiful that they have stolen from us, and instead pump poisonous globalist gibberish via the airwaves which is making us sick and stupid
💯%...l have lrish ancestry and never been to Ireland and never met any Irish relatives not yet anyway and so occasionally l will play Irish music to remind me l am Irish too. I immediately feel at home in Ireland, and yet l have never been there.
I've said it before, on other videos, that I believe Catherine Ashcroft has surpassed Davy Spillane and even Liam Og O'Flynn as the maestro An Piobhaire. This is the best accolade I could ever give the young lady, which is even more remarkable given the fact she is self-taught - oh, and English! Amazing woman and amazing music! :)
Catherine is good, but to say she surpasses the master Piper Davy Spillane is really pushing it, there is no one out there, yet, that can hold a candle to Davy's fineness and subtly when playing a tune, slow or fast. I have all his work and I can honestly say no one plays like Davy.
I've recently discovered my Irish ancestors path to America and, to hear this after having been to Ireland, is beyond moving!!!!! There is nothing like this....anywhere!!!
Timeless beauty, from the Green Island...Happy to have travelled the length and breadth of this amazing place, Irish are Irish, and I'm jealous in a way, that I am not...I travelled in a band to the joys of the people. We had a number 1 record at the time and the Waterboys came to one of our shows...I am a drummer and always I think a crisp snare with brushes would make all the difference...but time moves on, Catherine is so talented and I could listen to her playing solo anytime...mesmerising musician touched by the past and gifted into the future...Maurice is a lucky man!!!
This could reduce anyone to tears....honestly! Incredible flighty sound of the whistle & pipes. It is hauntingly brilliant & so beautiful. A reminder of a culture and all things great of an ancient people and its past. Would do your heart good listening to this in these strange times. Something to hold on to, it offers hope. We will get through this, normality will return all in good time. Stay safe out there. An Gobha.
Realise that she does raise the standard a lot, shes English outplaying the irish and she is self taught and brings such care to her playing it is even more moving than usual as she is good and young here
I stand in my kitchen, Pot of soup on the stove. Replaying the glorious haunting tones that touch my soul. Knowing nothing of "Irish" music. Percussion from my chest/ heart. Intrinsic. Natural. Close my eyes. We are one in this world, I think. North Sea blessed by the sea currents that are millions? of years old. Gave rise to this ability to shape sound from minds that were able to imagine air and atmosphere were all around them. Synchronizing the impulses in the human organ that sprang from a desire to express thoughts and emotions in an auditory form that everyone would immediately understand. Seasons were upon them, and time and tide regulated their ability. Not the indestructible will of expression and communication, Visual beauty notwithstanding, is but a hook, to attract us to listen. Listen and watch I will. God bless you from West Texas.
It reminds me Highlander, Rob Roy, Braveheart etc. etc. ... thank You for this masterpiece of gaelic/scottish rhythms, I'm very admire it. Greetings from PL!!! 🇵🇱🏴🇮🇪🇵🇱
What a fabulous musical combination. The Instrumental blend and virtuosity breathtaking. I saw Maurice many years ago at the Sidmouth Festival and couldn't believe my eyes and ears. I couldn't tell how many guitars he was playing the sound was so full. As a Pro Musician I was amazed at how he just "blew me away" A real hairs on the back of the neck job and very memorable.
@@ISLANDArtsLisburn It is just how I felt at the time in Sidmouth and watching the Duo do their stuff. If you can't be moved by Music like this what can you be moved by.
Well not blow away but at least equally impressive. I wonder though if she could play Chú Chullain as impressive as Davey Spillane because that is a man's path/ pain.
There have been these few songs with similar instruments and music style that I've been unable to find for years. I can hum the entirety of each song, but I can never find the musicians and it drives me nuts.
I've watched the first two numbers in a different video for years, now this surfaces. Wish these two could still play or do Zoom recordings if they can't play in front of crowds.
As I have said before on an earlier video, Catherine Ashcroft is the best Illiun piper I have ever heard. Brilliant; and Maurice Dickson isn't bad either.
Uilleann pipes my friend. Yes, they are mesmerizing. Check out some other artists as well, Blackie O'Connell, Michael McGoldrick, Cillian Vallely to name a few..

Please dont include us with the white man, we are Celts and we are blindly different. Just listen and you will see. Oh The Great Gaels of Ireland and the Great Gaels of Scotland, all we wanted was our freeeeeeedom.......
Mostly we are pink, unless the water is cold in which case we turn a rather alarming shade of purple. Do NOT expose us Celts to direct sunlight, or we change colour to traffic light red, and then the skin falls off amid pain and screams... You could use the average Celt as a an optical pyrometer...:)
Traveling down a rabbit hole, stopping when I found this! A smile on my face and tears in my eyes… ❤
I thank God for this blessed music. It simple does something to me that is challenging to describe. I wonder if someone else experiences this also???

I so do agree it makes my heart warm
I absolutely agree xxx
The future of Irish music is safe in her hands...
Simply BRILLIANT!
If she doesn't have Irish citizenship, she should be given it yesterday!

Yes Celtic music is different and comes from a more ancient Middle East tradition through the coptic monks who christinised Ireland.
