Pat usually gets it right but he’s got it so wrong re: Maatsen. Dortmund would’ve paid that 35m clause had they been able to afford him. Then Villa come in just above that clause (which was exclusive to Dortmund). Not sure that’s a problem.
He then says Villa have no money when they are a) debt free, unlike the majority of the PL, b) PSR compliant (through selling one of their best players, D.Luiz) and c) have one of the richest sets of owners in the league.
Even in context if you add in the Kellyman deal for 19m, Chukwuemeka went for 20m with just one year left on his deal two years ago and there was no issue then? Both were seen as the biggest youth prospect within the Villa academy (+ one of the biggest talents in English football)
Villa are having to sell academy players after not really having a bug year if spending themselves, and making the CL. Despite having massively wealthy owners

When in reality they simply levelled the playing field financially, and took on the established big clubs.
Now for clubs like Villa and Newcastle that door is closed, through a combination on FFP and PSR rules, preventing them building. Rules that only ever benefit the historically bigger clubs.

pat is fantastic to listen to and always seems to hit the nail on the head with what actual football fans believe. his analogies perfectly describe the situation of chelsea essentially just breaking the rules and then not facing a single consequence by breaking even more rules. the “fans” that pat was describing in not caring about chelsea’s rule breaking is zac.
zac will sit there and shrug and say what are u going to do 🤷 because it’s his club and he doesn’t care.
But no rules were broken (issues discussed in the video) so what consequences should Chelsea face? Everything they have done is allowed. Whether it should be is another question.
The second thing, just because you're the loudest and most confident in the room it doesn't mean you're right. And what the 'actual' football fans believe is usually a load of rubbish. In general, fans are stupid as hell and rely only on sentiment (no reason whatsoever).

God the Rashford vs Martinelli debate was absolutely grim. I dont particularly like either player but to say Rashford isnt a better player than Martinelli is a flat out lie. Both actually had very similar minutes last season - Rashford played in a much worse team and by Pats on admission had a terrible season yet had more goals and 1 less Goal contribution. Made more live ball passes that lead to a goal (10v7), both only had 1 successful take on that led to a goal. Saying Rashford has no Take on Ability when he had a higher succesful take on %age than Martinelli (44v35) with a similar number attampted. Even the point about Martinelli being a better progressive carry - yes this is true but then Rashford has more succesful carries into the final third so is doing more while carrying. This was really poor

Genuinely asking, not being mean. Has Pat ever acknowledged some of the context around United’s lack of tactical consistency when he is trashing Ten Hag the way he does? Largely I agree with his points about how poorly United looked last year, but he directs ALL of his harshness to TH it seems and I’ve never heard him give a bit of credence to the context

To be quite honest, it's really down to shoot times etc. I shoot this on a Thursday and normally the guys are very busy unfortunately. Will hopefully have them on in future!

They are paying for potential so whilst unproven, that was Villa's price and it was matched so a deal that everyone was happy with was on the table.
It's been widely reported that Villa are actually fine with PSR once the Luiz deal goes through, and extra sales on top of that are only happening if the price is right.
Chelsea have been interested in Kellyman since Jan window, and reports say that other PL clubs were willing to pay 10-15m for him - not such an overpay then?

Martinelli was awful last year. He's literally had one consistent season (22/23) where he was admittedly very good but Rashford still outperformed him. Respect Pats views but don't know why he's happy to die on this Martinelli hill of his.

The guy in the middle is a typical hater... Loopholes are not illegal by definition So just because you're mad they took advantage of a situation. That's not something they should be fined or sanctioned for. Furthermore Chelsea have been trying to sell Gallagher for a year now he is the one thats trying to stay.
When you actually look into it it’s insane. Villa brought up all the issues in PL meetings, tried to address the issues to suit the league and didn’t get enough votes to change. They then take advantage of these rules and look what happens.
Having said that I think some people are missing the point - you could easily argue that every club swapping these players would, in an ideal world, keep these players + their potential around.
