If Btidge defense is a go-to mission to learn CAS and attack on ground units, then Dogfight is the mission to learn air combat. You in your Compass and 4 allies are up against 2 Crickets, 2 Compasses, 2 Revokers and 1 Chicane. You might be surprised how accurate Chicane's turret can be.

UPD: The mission is called «Furball». Actual tip for this: Hold your missiles until the AI launched missiles are gone. Till then mask behind hills to your right.
A tip I wish I knew earlier: If youre on the map screen but not in an aircraft you can single left click on any ground units to select them (or a group) and right click on the map to order them around. This is how you capture downed enemy pilots or rescue your own downed pilots. Drive a vehicle over to them and they will be rescued/captured once they arrive.
It also helps to capture enemy bases. Once you destroy an enemy airfield if you send a friendly ground vehicle over the base will heal and become friendly.

first/third person games that can double as an RTS always tickle a special part of my brain 🙏
Glide bombs, gliding at an angle of 45° or steeper, will speed up. At a speed of M1.4 or higher, they become very difficult to defeat. Heat seakers don't work at all. The dreaded Strato Lance can be easily spanked at a range of 50km or higher, by any pilot willing to spend a few minutes to gain altitude. The game accuratlly models aerodynamics, including air density and drag. So an AA missile launched from 12km down onto a target becomes almost impossible to defeat kinematically.
Flying high is difficult in Nuclear Option, but very rewarding.
Those aircraft are really agile and stall really fast. Analog input is a necessity.
They've intercepted my mach 2.4 HARMs before :c

I was one of the play testers, I still have access to it without needing to buy the full game. Me and my father have the full game on our Wishlist's on stream and cant wait to play the full game!

I bought this game ages ago and something was really wonky and stopping me from binding my VKB rudders and I was in such a DCS/Star Citizen era that I couldn't be bothered if I couldn't use all my gear. Your video made me try again yesterday and everything is perfect now and thanks to this it got me right in and playing a 6 hour session yesterday late into the night lol.
Cant wait for this game to get VR support.
Is that on the roadmap? If so. I hope they implement similar controls like VTOL VR

Indeed it is on the roadmap and buur is using the currently supported eye tracking.
if head tracking registers the vr headset then it might work with vr desktop, I don't have this game and haven't tried it with any others yet, so don't know the specifics.

#1 tactic/strategy for all types of players: Use the nuclear option
Selecting things from the map is super super useful for bomb tosses, especially if you're carrying nukes. Pick your targets, full throttle, pitch up, ripple off as many as needed, then duck back down, and doing that gives the bombs that little bit of extra range, all without having to visually nose over the target
Also very useful for picking out SPAAGs and IR SAMs if you're raiding bases, or selecting radars while doing SEAD stuff
This game is amazing. I hope we get to see modern/modernized battleships and aircraft like a steath harrier or a hybrid Nighthawk added. If not, then god bless the modding community!
We definitely need more military aircraft simulation games.

Another mission I would recommend is "Altercation." It has a little bit of everything. The Humble Cricket, Low Class Jets and Attack Helicopters, The Tarantula Dropship and a simple objective of destroying Vehicle Depots. I sunk an hour of playtime trying to complete this mission, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a challenge, but also wanting something not completely unfair.

Bought this game yesterday and I die a lot but I'm having a great time nonetheless. One question for now: Are all missiles and bombs guided to their target if you have a lock on them because in the video I saw you shooting without really aiming.

your plane moves so smoothly mine wants to bounce back to someplace in between where you put it and where it was. My plans fly more like rocks from KSP when you forget to turn off SAS and the weird part is i even turn of Stability controls in the Nuclear option via f and it still does it. What am I doing wrong i am about to return this nightmare of a game. i have spent almost 2 hours just playing with options trying to make it fly smooth

@@adamgeigerjr6995 i kinda sorta agree. atm, the map we have is GIGANTIC and pretty great for early access. i dont doubt we’ll get more maps but for now the map we have is good enough
I can't wait for this game to get the VR update (in concept phase rn according to a dev in the steam forum). from that day on, i'll use my hotas, but since i can't comfortably look around with my hotas (and opentrack or trackIR are just disorienting for me and make me nauseaus) but until then i'll "have make do" with either my xbox controller or mouse and keyboard. not sure which it'll be, since i just got the game today and barely played... also screw the darn countermeassure tutorials xD tried the ir one for half an hour, and every time as soon as i am supposed to turn my thruster towards the missile rack thing, i can forget about the flares working whatsoever...
Do you have a video about helicopters and how to operate them?
I think it would be great to have an explanation about... how to use that hover mode...
I don't and we've no plans to produce one. Your best bet is to check in with the official discord server for the game.
Please, make different airplane models for two different factions! It will make a game much more atmospheric.

trying to emulate my war thunder controls and it's a bit wonky
I use a Logitech 3D Extreme joystick and the sensitivity is insane; super hard to control. Super sensitive. How would I change it?

I've not used rudder pedals with it. But I have a VKB stick and a Thrustmaster throttle. I can't see that rudders wouldn't work tbh.

@@TheBuurPit Thanks Cmdr. I've not tried the game recently. And I'm no good with the twisty sticks for rudders, because. I've broken every single one of them, hence the metal warthogs. My rudders are logitech.

If you mean a full hands on throttle and stick. Yes. I do.
Thrustmaster t16000 throttle and vkb stick with a space combat grip on the right.

I wish Id known that my CH Products HOTAS would make the game stop loading at the Shockfront screen then kick me back to the desktop.

Do any of you have problems just flying the plane with the mouse and keyboard? its all woobly even when pressing F.
do you mean when using the keyboard for pitch and roll? if so, I've also experienced that. but there is an option on the main settings page that says "Use Virtual Joystick (Mouse Flight Controls)", which lets you use your mouse as a joystick basically. it takes a little getting used to, but once you're practiced, it works very well. I prefer it over gamepad and definitely over using the keyboard for it. I use right mouse click for free look
I still keep the WASD keybinds, too, so that I can use them for basic maneuvering when in the 3rd-person camera mode (which obviously doesn't work with the virtual joystick)
@@foxscotch When i do that the mouse pointer acts like a really long rubber band trying to move the center of the plane. In War Thunder the pointer and the center are not separated so much, so you can control it easely.
@@GuitarAndWhatevsthis game uses your mouse as a simulated yoke. Meaning however you move your mouse is how you would move a yoke, and keeping it in one position is essentially keeping the yoke at that position, meaning the control surfaces are kept at a specific angle. It takes some getting used to. Took me about 10 hours to get it down

Looking for people to play with, any good discords servers , besides the game one (could not find people there for some reason)?
The official server is full of people. Make sure you've chosen a role and agreed to any terms etc. and that all channels are set to visible.

How do you respawn after dying I cant find the button in game

No. Only TrackIR. However, if you want a VR game that is a semi-sim, I will point you at VTOL VR

All this video has taught me is that I got very good at the game very quickly (10 hours in and I’m able to survive bombing entire enemy bases in escalation mode, able to survive dogfights with 5+ aircraft, able to dodge 10 different SAMs at once, etc), and that I should actually try using Lynchpins now that I know they’re guided

Tried DCS World but the controls are impossible to setup.
This looks like the magical sweet spot.
Each to their own obviously.... But I really prefer Nuclear Option.
the game looks good but prospective buyers should know that it doesn't support duel controller HOTAS setups yet
if you are mixing and matching you should use vjoy (and something like joystick gremlin) to make all of your peripherals appear as one single controller instead of multiple different ones.
@@minecrafter8001 I have two VKB sticks I run as HOSAS and they work fine.
