I think the dcu has had some safe castings imo so I’m rooting for Alan Ritchson as Batman. It would be a unique pick that would give the dcu Batman film some spice and a sense of wonder because everyone is going to want to see how that plays out on film. The dcu needs to do more interesting and unsafe castings for some of their bigger hero roles

I won’t rule Ritchinson out after I was proved so wrong by Pattison on the Batman front. But honestly, right now I am just around for the ride. Most of what I feared from Gunn seems to have been just paranoia so I am just excited moving forward.
I optimistically think the else world project will only green light when the project is quite different in genre (or style?) with the main DCU, not some conspirascy theory or something
I could def see Allan playing someone like wildcat or even better like a Hawkmam, or the adult body of shazam, personal I don't understand why people think Allan would be a good batman, he could do sum decent brooding I think and fs would bring a comic book level physical to the role but I do not see Allan pulling off the somerberness of Bruce and the almost double personality disorder that is batman, batman/Bruce is not just sum scary big guy in a suit with a gruff voice, he is a very complex character with alot of focus of his characters mental battles just as much as his physical battles. A character like that needs an actor who can pull off a full range of emotions
Having the TV shows running alongside a separate movie universe seems like a better idea. You have fans of the character and the show. It runs for multiple years in-between cinematic projects. It's nice to have as a buffer to tide fans over while we wait for the big movies and keep folks invested
I think people are too stuck on appearance when it comes to fancasting. Yes Ritchson is huge and has the body type to play bats but other than that I dont see it. Id much rather have an actor who fits the role better than an actor who isnt as good but looks the part.

Anyone who denies people could see Nicholas Hault as Clark is either lying or only thinking of him as Superman and him not being buff. I don't say this because I wanted him for the role, I'm pretty satisfied with him as Lex and David as Clark. BUT I have to say that most of the time one thinks of an actor who looks like Superman, sowith Nicholas what was interesting is that because of his past roles and experience, what sold you on him was his ability to play Clark instead (which is not often easy to pull off with men who look like Superman).
I will say that the Superman & Lois news is a bit sus to me. It was CW that slashed the budget and lowered the episode count - after taking very long to renew it in the first place. It was even rumored that they could move to MAX for that last season. I have a feeling the CW guy is pulling from past WB concerns with competing properties, like when Smallvile couldn't use Batman and even Lois at first. BUT, if not, it does make sense in a different way than The Batman concerns people have -- ending S&L puts all DC properties (other than Prime's animated IPs) under DC Studios control. Even The Batman is under that umbrella going forward.
Alan has played aquaman before so I could see that. But but if he plated Batman I wouldn't be mad, he's got the height and build. As long as he's not bigger than sups.

Something that I think is important to keep in mind about The Batman continuing and cancelling Superman & Lois is that there’s no DCU Batman yet for Pattinson to compete with. The Brave and the Bold probably won’t be coming until at least 2027. Then there’d be the competing Batman franchises, which is where Superman is at right now. With the Arkham series now set in the DCU, I’m wondering if The Batman Part 2 will be the conclusion of Reeves’s Batverse, to avoid ongoing competing Batmen.

Honestly it’s hard to imagine what a James Gunn universe will look like until the day it’s released in 2025. Loved the Snyder films except man of steal that was a snooze fest. But I’m really excited to see these characters in the big screen again.
I'd argue too Boba that, in regards to Superman & Lois getting canned vs The Batman, there's almost certainly a tone choice. The Superman in S&L is very close tonally to what I'd imagine Gunn has planned for Superman Legacy. Both are very upbeat, hopeful, etc. whereas The Batman is grounded, trying to toe the line between realism and fantasy, dark, edgy, etc. while the DCU Batman is gonna jump over the line on the fantastical elements and with Damian Wayne already here, he might even be a more seasoned, nuanced, and much less edgy Batman. The lack of similarity in tone might be playing a huge factor in what gets canceled and what gets greenlit.
It's kinda sad that you even had to talk about this Superman thing. I'm sorry but some of these so called fans over social media I swear has the critical thinking skills of a 3 year old. Drawing any type of comparison between Batman & Superman is absurd. Batman's Box Office is far beyond that of Superman. It makes 100000000000000000000% sense why they wouldn't want a competing Superman out there. Superman hasn't financially proven himself to be able to survive that level of exposure (BATMAN HAS). People are so unnecessarily over dramatic. Also, while the ratings have been OK for S&L - this just comes across to me like another Batgirl situation - Nothing EVER trended about Batgirl when they were in production, no social media engagement, there was 0 hype for the film. As soon as they announced it's being canned, suddenly everyone and their mama wants to come out crying about it being cancelled. That's the same BS that's happening here with S&L. It's such a great show that not nearly enough people watched, but now they want to sit around crying over social media because there's some anti-studio objective at play. People love to hate on anything WB/Gunn/Zaslov. The whole thing just seems contrived and unnecessary.

Jamie Dornan, hear me out… he’s already nailed the playboy billionaire when he was Christian Grey in the 50 shades franchise. He was awesome in the tourist. He’s tall, he’s muscular, he’s old enough to have a kid, he’s got the looks, and I just genuinely think he can pull it off.

Alan ritchson should play Azrael or bane. However for bane there are a few better choices. I’d say Bautista would be a good Bane

I don't say this because I wanted him for the role, I'm pretty satisfied with him as Lex and David as Clark. BUT I have to say that most of the time one thinks of an actor who looks like Superman, sowith Nicholas what was interesting is that because of his past roles and experience, what sold you on him was his ability to play Clark instead (which is not often easy to pull off with men who look like Superman).

I will say that the Superman & Lois news is a bit sus to me. It was CW that slashed the budget and lowered the episode count - after taking very long to renew it in the first place. It was even rumored that they could move to MAX for that last season. I have a feeling the CW guy is pulling from past WB concerns with competing properties, like when Smallvile couldn't use Batman and even Lois at first. BUT, if not, it does make sense in a different way than The Batman concerns people have -- ending S&L puts all DC properties (other than Prime's animated IPs) under DC Studios control. Even The Batman is under that umbrella going forward.

Something that I think is important to keep in mind about The Batman continuing and cancelling Superman & Lois is that there’s no DCU Batman yet for Pattinson to compete with. The Brave and the Bold probably won’t be coming until at least 2027. Then there’d be the competing Batman franchises, which is where Superman is at right now. With the Arkham series now set in the DCU, I’m wondering if The Batman Part 2 will be the conclusion of Reeves’s Batverse, to avoid ongoing competing Batmen.

The thing is: Superman & Lois is too similar to what Gunn wants to do with Superman and Lois in the DCU. The Batman is already pretty different from DCU Batman: no superpowers, Bruce is in the beginning of his career, no Batfamily.

I'd argue too Boba that, in regards to Superman & Lois getting canned vs The Batman, there's almost certainly a tone choice. The Superman in S&L is very close tonally to what I'd imagine Gunn has planned for Superman Legacy. Both are very upbeat, hopeful, etc. whereas The Batman is grounded, trying to toe the line between realism and fantasy, dark, edgy, etc. while the DCU Batman is gonna jump over the line on the fantastical elements and with Damian Wayne already here, he might even be a more seasoned, nuanced, and much less edgy Batman. The lack of similarity in tone might be playing a huge factor in what gets canceled and what gets greenlit.

It's kinda sad that you even had to talk about this Superman thing. I'm sorry but some of these so called fans over social media I swear has the critical thinking skills of a 3 year old.
Drawing any type of comparison between Batman & Superman is absurd. Batman's Box Office is far beyond that of Superman. It makes 100000000000000000000% sense why they wouldn't want a competing Superman out there. Superman hasn't financially proven himself to be able to survive that level of exposure (BATMAN HAS). People are so unnecessarily over dramatic. Also, while the ratings have been OK for S&L - this just comes across to me like another Batgirl situation - Nothing EVER trended about Batgirl when they were in production, no social media engagement, there was 0 hype for the film. As soon as they announced it's being canned, suddenly everyone and their mama wants to come out crying about it being cancelled. That's the same BS that's happening here with S&L. It's such a great show that not nearly enough people watched, but now they want to sit around crying over social media because there's some anti-studio objective at play. People love to hate on anything WB/Gunn/Zaslov. The whole thing just seems contrived and unnecessary.

Jamie Dornan, hear me out… he’s already nailed the playboy billionaire when he was Christian Grey in the 50 shades franchise. He was awesome in the tourist. He showed his dark/psychotic side in the tv series “The Fall” where he played serial killer Paul Spector.
