DIY CATIO Enclosure: How it was made ~ 5 days in 10 minutes🐾

- We'll show you how we made an ultimate Catio Home including all of our secrets. Find a shaded and quiet space, clear the land, marking out a space and get to work. For this project we hired workers for the framing and landscaping. Most of the cost for the project went into labor.
Our overall goal is to create a safe and fun outdoor feline habitat for our sweet shelter cats.
If you are considering making a Catio or outdoor space; we recommend including elements that promote exercise, climbing, places to hide and places to sleep. Included in this catio are native, non-toxic plants too. We also have several videos that cover Catio Design and other elements that you may want to include to give your feline the best experience possible. Just use your imagination and think like a feline.
**Opps in the Editing, that is a 90° wire angle not 45 °.
Materials:
Black Coated wire fencing 14 gauge 6 foot - purchased from Amazon
Pressure treated lumber. The lumber we used are 4x4", 2x4, 2 x6 and fence boards.
Concrete
Heavy duty zip ties
Wood stain
Artificial grass
Polycarbonate roofing panels - Misty Green Colored
Wood screws - star bit
16g 3/4" staples for pneumatic stapler
12x12" pavers, pea gravel and landscape fabric and landscape staples
native non-toxic plants.
Equipment and tools used includes: Mini bolt cutter for the wire fencing, zip tie cutter, drill, miter saw, metal sheer cutter, air compressor and the main stay item was the pneumatic air stapler,

I'm so glad I stumbled unto your amazing video. This cat retreat is so inspiring to me. I have the perfect spot in my backyard. I had 4 kitties born under my house and they have never left that spot. Great looking project, only thing I would've done differently is to char all that lumber. wood stain helps but it can't protect against rot on parts buried + it'd give a great rustic look to the whole thing. charred wood can last 20-50yrs buried & 50-100 yrs exposed to the elements plus it keeps the wood hungry critters at bay, just a thought for next time.

Wonderful project! Love the different textures on the ground. If you can buy a bird feeder (bird bath optional) 3-3/12 feet away might do. that they can watch close enough but not reach. It is the best cat tv.

We appreciate you visit very much! Seeing the world through the cats eyes, always help me understand them and their needs 💝. We use pressure treated lumber, which will last years.

How far apart did you set your 4×4s?
My catio will be 24 feet long and I thought I would have a post every 12 feet. The catio will also start off attached to the wall of the house.
Also, it looks like you attached the fencing to the inside of the catio. Correct?

Won't the wood eventually rot and break over time when exposed to rain/sun/snow?
Thank you for the visit and question. All the lumber is pressure treated lumber therefore it should be more reliable in the coming years.
