I'm really excited about this boxset because this season was the first one I watched as a child. Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor. I was 8 years old and have loved the show ever since. This year I turned 62 years old. Spearhead from Space was Jon's first story and it was shot in colour on film. All 4 stories are fantastic. Spearhead, The Silurians, Ambassadors of death, and Inferno. HMV, Amazon and Zavvi have not said when this will be available for preorder.
This is a wonderful season of Doctor Who and I always look forward to these Blu-Ray releases. Yeah, being released in February so not long to wait. It’s strange how I can watch classic Doctor Who again, and again but with New Who, Some of the episodes, I’ve only ever watched once. Tom Baker was the first Doctor I ever watched on television. Honestly, thanks for watching and have a great Christmas.🎄👍
@mastersjoke I'm exactly the same as you. The classics are my go to Who when wanting to watch Doctor Who. I buy New Who but tend to watch them only once or twice. I have to be in the mood to watch them but I love watching early Who.
Jon Pertwee was a great Doctor. There were rumours of an Inferno 3-pack from Character with the Third Doctor, Liz Shaw, and the monster scientist. Hopefully it will get a release one day but I can’t see it being a B&M release.👍😉
Official release details but no new trailer. Maybe they are waiting for The War Games to air on Monday. I didn’t see anything about new Special Effects.🤔🎅🎄👍
I'm the same as you, grew up with Pertwee as Wurzel Gummidge. Watched his run for the first time last year, really really enjoyed it. Can't wait to get this box set
Hurrah !!!😁😁😁 Fantastic season , and these collectors edition have great extras. Inferno figures ? That's wishful thinking I fear. The War Games ...How on earth can they cut down a ten episode story to 90 minutes without butchering it ? I just don't trust the current Who administration not to ruin it.
Agreed. The current regime is making some strange choices with the bonus features: The 1993 VHS extended SILVER NEMESIS was released unrestored as a "historical curiosity". The extended BATTLEFIELD and THE CURSE OF FENRIC were both restored, if I remember correctly, so why not SILVER NEMESIS, too? Anyway, I hope they don't f**k this release up with messed up frame rates or anything else. It's a favourite season - probably Jon Pertwee's best.
Yeah, I know it’s wishful thinking with an Inferno action figure release.😂 The War Games will be interesting in the same way The Daleks was last year. I picked up my VHS War Games 2-pack for £9.99 in 1993, at the same time I purchased my SONY video recorder. I used to watch it all the time and I really enjoyed it as although slow paced, I felt as though I was part of the adventure. Obviously I still own that VHS and also the Sony video recorder.😂😂 it will definitely be hacked to pieces and I personally don’t think it is necessary to show the second Doctor regenerating into the third. It appears this is for the kids and apparently some people cannot watch black & white, my wife being one of them. I love black & white movies and shows.👍😉
@@mastersjoke 👍, I get grief because I won't bin my old Sharp video recorder 😆, ...I can't see how cutting out 2/3's of the story, for the "yoof " with no discernible attention span, won't ruin it. There are some classic movies and TV shows in b&w , it's very weird how some folks cant watch them. We didn't get a colour TV until summer of '74 so eveything until I was 7 was in b&w.

I don’t like The War Games anyway, so that one is a very easy pass. If I ever watch it again, which I doubt, it will be all 10 episodes
