    I once bought a shell like that when I was a little boy. But I never knew what it looks like when it's alive. I just imagined it's something like a snail.
    Now finally I find out what it looks like! This is truly amazing!

    I've spent 4 weeks in the south of france. encountered multiple octopusses and caught some using an old-fashioned net. Footage will soon be out, not on this account though. I also came across a nudibranch, rarely seen in france, along with that excact cowry!

    Octopus cyanea will make a couple of appearances in a few weeks' time. I have footage of 2 octopuses either fighting or mating (there is an old version of that on my channel called "octopus fight", and also one defending itself from attack by a damselfish.

    No I haven't seen one but I would love to!

    The damselfish/octopus video hasn't been uploaded yet.Will be in a couple of months. I use ID books at first, then check all sorts of different sites. TonmoDOTcom and thecephalopodpageDOTorg are good for octopuses, and Google images is always part of my detective work.

    I have octopuses coming up in a future video. Did you catch the octopuses to eat?

    Good point, but "primitive" doesn't mean "dumb". Glad you like the videos.

    You don't find worms pretty? Nudibranchs are sea slugs. They are completely different from worms :)

    in some primitive cultures? how are today's expensive useless meaningless and wasteful fashion and prestige items less dumb then a molluc's shell hanging from your...anything?
    anyway awesome set of videos. I'm so glad I've found this.

    Great videos, though I couldn't find damselfish/octopus video. how do you uncover the names of species you've encountered? is there a website?(particularly for octopuses) I'd like to know, so I can get the facts right.

    i've been curious about how mollucs shell grow?

    • @eksutton4576
      @eksutton4576 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is quite late, but the soft part of the mollusc, called the mantle, secretes the shell

  • @kuronoo244
    @kuronoo244 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What is the mantle for

    • @bubblevision
      @bubblevision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It secretes calcium carbonate and conchiolin (protein) which form the shell. It can also be involved in respiration, waste disposal, and sensory reception.

    are the octopuses a part of your current series? No, I didn't it them nor did I desire to. I love sea-food but I reject each opportunity I'm given to slaughter these breathtaking creatures. I set them free after a short examination(eye). Caaaan't wait!
