Listing to this while watching this old shcool cartoons, does make me think the amount of opium those people smoke back in the days
Opium isn't the least bit trippy. It's an opiate (where the word comes from) - the high is the same as heroin or oxy which is not an inspirational high in the least. Also, "back in the day" for these cartoons was the 1920's (Disney began in 1921), so you are talking about professional cartoonists in Los Angeles during the Great Depression era. I don't think their drug scene was as cool as you imagine. The "wild" ones with a secret nightlife might have had access to heroin or marijuana, but that's about it. Psychedelics weren't accessible to them (LSD handn't been invented and these guys wouldn't have known about any traditional/ceremonial plant use in Mexico or S. America-that world was unknown to Americans back then). At best, marijuana might have played a part, but it's likely these guys were just boozers.
