I actually get what he is saying, and only until you come to a certain point along your spiritual path, will you truly understand. I've read his autobiography, and I consider Bhagavan Das someone "who knows". He is not a sleepwalker, he has woken up! One must not get too bogged down with paying too much attention to the form or filter through which truth appears. It actually doesn't bother me that he might ask for donations or receive money. If you imagine there is, or should be a separation between materialism and spirituality, you don't understand what being spiritual is actually about. We live in the realm of form, the world of the subjective, the place of relativity. Truly "awakened" souls always understand there is no sin. Money is not the root of all evil. In fact, if you honestly want to know a truth: there is nothing wrong with money, or even wanting money. You see, if you truly love Life, then you love the stuff of Life, and if one should acquire any amount of money, the only difference between the sincerely spiritual person and those that are insincere, is that the truly "awakened" would use that money to further help others to awaken themselves, to use that money in the service of spreading the Dharma, and the energies of Light, Love, and Truth, with compassion and unconditional love! I didn't know he had an autobiography. My dad picked up his now CD and him and I listened to it when I was really young, and it had an effect on me. As I got older, I still loved his songs, and now I want to get to know him and learn what his experience was. Thank you for your comment :)
Also, I felt like I have been asleep for a long time, and am just now waking up. I want to spread this feeling to others because I know many are still asleep, suffering, and may even make a really bad choice. I think if I can understand people like Bhagavan Das then it can help me on my journey to help others.

I dont want to judge the man, because ive gained insight (for free) from some of his youtube videos, and his kirtan..... but a close friend of mine paid to attend a retreat with him, due to an emergency he couldnt go.... Bhagavan would not refund his money, not even half. That's not very understanding imo.

I studied most of these Eastern philosophies, read the works of countless numbers of them, and have finally reached a conclusion on all of it: It is all complete bullshit, but if you want to fool yourself into thinking that it is the answer, well placebos work all the time, so enjoy! The thing with this is that this guy can rationalize anything away under the guise of "understanding" etc... Well let me tell you a little something about Kermit Michael Riggs aka "Bhagavan Das" He is a friend of my friend's father and he is constantly trying to get my friend into bed, who is 25 years old. My friend laughs in his face! I've seen many emails he has sent her, disguising his predatory bullshit under "love". Good luck all you people, looking for something. It's already inside you! If you want the real deal on all of this bullshit, check out UG Krishnamurti, the biggest threat to all of these "gurus."
