6/10/24 Throw 1/2 Incense Burner Attempts 5 & 6

  • The first throw was doomed from the start. I really struggled with centering it. I don't think it's taken me that long to center for months. It definitely messed with my mind because I forgot what I was making until I had the start of a cylinder.
    I had intended to make another incense burner, which starts like a double walled vessel. I ended up having to scrape up the clay from the outer wall to form the inner wall. I actually had something decent till I knocked the wall of the inner pot. That's when I finally decided to sacrifice it to the knowledge gods.
    The 2nd throw went much better. I remembered in time to try opening up like Vladik Oladik did in his doubled walled heart short video. I wish I wouldn't have lost my shamois, because I am really pleased with how this one turned out. I had to compress the rim with my fingers, which I have no idea if I did it right as it was my first time. I hope I didn't fumble the rim.

      Thank you! There is so much to learn in pottery. If I look ahead, it can be intimidating because I have so far to go. It really helps to look back and see how far I've come.
