Made this yesterday, it was awesome. I only used one egg though because that’s all I had left. Next weekend I’m making it again with 3 or 4 eggs. Even with one egg it was still great. I seasoned the hashbrowns and onions/peppers with Swine Life Mississippi Grit. Really good seasoning.
Hey Mike that sounds good, we sell that swine life at my work it's good stuff. Glad you could make it work with only one egg. Sometimes you just gotta improvise.
Hey Jonny. I love hash brown omelettes and breakfast sandwiches. I made my new sandwich with some hash browns in a egg ring, a little sausage crumbles, eggs. Cooked low and slow. When set up flipped and a slice of cheese on top until it melted. Put it between toasted English muffin and it hit the spot. Thanks for all your great cooks.
Wow that sounds amazing what a great idea. It also sounds pretty easy because everything is contained in the egg ring. I need to give that a try.
@@JohnnyBrunetreal easy. I make a half dozen at a time and wrap and refrigerate or freeze any extras. Reheats well.
Thanks for the video. Enjoy watching. Keep on griddling.
You're welcome my friend.
Good lord, Johnny. I am not saying I have been making breakfast every time on my once a week day off since I got my griddle insert, well, that is a lie, I have. The hash brown thing holding it all together is brilliant. I even put in some sweet potato fries. And use the weight. Use a level so my eggs don’t run down one side. Have consumed as much avocado oil since I have been alive. I did do a bunch of different seasoned pork chops on the grill later in the day, and I can’t wait to make some fried rice soon. Must make a plan to do some Philly Cheese steaks soon. Now my daughter off at school is getting breakfast pictures from me. Make enough for a few days with my round, 24 inch grilling insert. You da man! Thank you!
Breakfast everyday, geck ya man!!! I'm so glad that you're breaking in that griddle insert. The hash brown omelette is great, sweet potato fries sound like a great addition. Pork chop fries rice is a great idea. Whatever leftover meat you got is always a good call from some fried rice. Definitely get those cheese steaks on the schedule soon. Hopefully when your daughter comes home to visit from school you can make her a great big breakfast! Have a good week my friend.
Good video Johnny , being really old I remember diners when they had a juke box ( so to speak ) at every table , , where we could play 3 songs for a quarter ! Those days are gone ,, in montana we don't even have a diner. Thank you for the memories ( not to sound like Bob Hope. FRANK from montana.....
Hey Frank. That's awesome that they used to have a jukebox at every table. And no I never saw that it was definitely before my time. 3 songs for a quarter is a heck of a deal. Hope your doing well out there my friend.

Hell Yeah Johnny ! Ill be making these for sure. Just picked up 75 lbs potato's from my farm buddy and will be making all kinds of potato stuff. lol
75lb!!!!😱😱 Man you're going to be eating potatoes for months lol. Definitely give this a try, thanks for watching man.
Humble flex with having 4 grills visible in your intro lol nice setup you have there with the bge next to the griddle
Lol thanks, ya I am lucky with my grill collection. My wife thinks it's too many but I say there's always room for one more.
"It's not real cheese, but it's real delicious" 😂 Another great video. Go Bucks!
Tha ks buddy, and ya go Bucks! Another week another win. Looks like we're in a collision course with the cheaters up north.
@@JohnnyBrunet I'm honestly not surprised they've been cheating. I am surprised they weren't behind the weighted fishing tournament.
@@sspotter1978 lol my buddy at work showed me that a few months ago. I don't even fish but that was insane.
Outstanding ! Love your channel!
Tha ks Nim! I'm so glad you like it and I appreciate you watching.
What a great little helper! So cute! (And getting so big. 🙂)
Thanks Liz. He is a great helper and he's been a lot more interested lately so I've been letting him help. The clean up process is a little longer now lol, but it's worth it.
Great video Johnny! Where were you this morning when i made mine??? JK. I've watched your other video so many times i don't even need a brush up. I make one using the carton style this morning and it was awesome. Bacon, onions and freedom cheese. As always, griddle on my brother!
Hey Mike, that's too funny that you made one the morning of this video release. Bacon and onion is a good filling, my wife would love that. Have a good one buddy.
Looks delicious brother!
Thanks buddy!
My man🖐️ Out here doing the lords work🙏You’re the real MVP🏆
Thanks brother.
Howdy Johnny, nothing "butter" than a good Western Omelette. Wonder how it would be if a fellow substituted Tater Tots for the hash browns? Perhaps I will give that a go and see how it turns out. Have A Day! ;~)
Howdy buddy. I don't know how it would be with tater tots. Sounds like I have a new experiment to run!
Hey Mr. Omelet. So when are you starting your diet?? Oh yeah, next week, lol. Eggs on the griddle are fun and real easy to mess up. Like you said, you have to learn your griddle. That's just part of the experience. Great meal there Johnny and GRIDDLE ON DUDE.
Thanks buddy and ya I haven't started that diet yet. I need to get those shirts ready by Christmas time.
It's👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼 time for eggnog French toast!!!
That's a great idea!
Hashbrown omelets for the win! Your Spiderman assistant is getting big, needs to work on his egg crackin' skills tho. 🤣 Thanks for another great video Johnny.
Thanks Todd. Ya he is getting big but is a little violent when cracking those eggs lol. It makes for a big clean up but it's all worth it.
Butter lovers unite with Johnny! Three rules in Wisconsin, you can not use too much butter, and you can not use too much cheese. Both ingredients should be in every cook. Keep motivating us all in Griddle land.
Lol the more you tell me about these Wisconsin rules the more it sounds like I need to move there!🤣🤣
Yes, you should. Guaranteed never to run out of cheese or butter. You may get clogged up now and again, but it's just one of the hazards of living in the dairy land.
Amazing!!
Thanks Tim.
Good stuff.
Thanks.
What's not to love? I love hashbrowns. Some of the worst hashbrowns I have ever had were still wonderful! The egg holds them together to make them even easier to eat in the omelet. Yum! Try putting some shredded cheese on the hashbrowns right before the egg and get crispy cheese with the hashbrowns all around that omelet.
by the way... GFS sells a 2.5 lb. carton of the shelf-stable dehydrated hashbrowns for $13.99. We used to take them to Boy Scout outings. The Hungry Jack brand (4.2oz.) is usually available at Dollar General stores and Walmart, in "Original" and sometimes the "Cheesy" version. I think they are over $1 now??
I totally agree, bad hash browns are still better than good vegetables 😁😁😁. That's good to know about gfs thanks for sharing David.
Butter melter here
That's why I like you Brett, I knew you were in that crowd.
Do you live off Northwest? Looks like where I used to live.
Lol yup. It's pretty recognizable.
Freedom cheese! 😂
😁😁😁
CHEATER! Anyone can cook if SPIDER-MAN is helping you!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I came to watch butter melt. The rest of the video is a great bonus! Another great video
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video Johnny! I just made one of these two weeks ago and it came out amazing. I'm also with you on the slow and low on the hash browns. I try to keep it around 360 f and cook for 10 minutes before adding the egg and other ingredients. I just love those hash brown omelettes!
Thanks Buddy. I'll have to check out the video you did on the omelette. Have a good one buddy.
Another fantastic griddle cook Johnny. I made diced potato hash browns on the griddle today. I used the frozen variety and 400 was the perfect temp. My one element indoor griddle does not stay as hot as your griddle and the frozen diced potatoes lower the temp down to 365 fast. I made the sausage on one side and my scrambled eggs on the other. Side temps were down to 355 so no burned food.
That sounds delicious guy! Ya I would imagine the electric griddle struggles to hold temp when you put a bunch of frozen food on it. But it sounds like you've got that thing mastered now. Thanks for sharing my friend and have a good week.
@@JohnnyBrunet @IndyGuy65 - Yeah, I have the 17" Blackstone e-Series & temps drop like a rock if you add -frozen- items so I always let my "building materials" warm up to room temp before putting them on.
IIRC, FDA says food can only sit out at room temp for 2 hours before "risk" of bacterial growth, so I use a safe window of 90 minutes thaw time & then it is GO TIME!
Helps a LOT.
The 22" Blackstone e-Series has 2 seperate heating elements & dials for much better control. It's on my shopping list...
Upon further review - penalty @ 7:13 is withdrawn.
I had a bad day at work today. Your video made my day better, thank you! Love the Freedom Cheese
Glad I could cheer you up chuck. I really appreciate you watching my friend.
Count me in on the Butter Melting! Got a 2 burner Blackstone w/hard cover for father's day, and your videos are the best! Relatable, honest, and not at all pretentious. I was sold by your Happy Accidents philosophy. I also enjoyed your "How I got here" story. I hope this continues to be rewarding for you - I've not seen a video I haven't really enjoyed. Go Bucks from Liberty Center, Ohio!
Hey Eric! Congratulations on the new griddle my friend. I really appreciate you watching and I'm so glad you like the videos. Go Bucks!
Don't sweat forgetting the cheese, easy fix. I always forget something when I cook, makes dishes different each time.
So true Dale. No mistakes just happy accidents.
spider man has some cool egg cracking skills lol.. i make a hash brown omelet almost every weekend now. ever since i seen you make it lol.
Lol he's a little violent and messy but he's does get them cracked. I would make it every weekend too if I wasn't shooting other videos. It's hard to beat. Have a good week Scotty.
I am definitely a butter person.
Heck ya!!!!
Hey Johnny, I popped in just because you are griddling. Mine is put away for the winter. But perhaps you don't live in the Canadian border. Between the rain and snow and bla bla bla... LOL Anyway. I liked and commented.
Hey buddy thanks for stopping by. Ya I'm not that far north so I don't have to put it away. I don't blame you for storing yours for the winter. Hope you doing well and stay warm up there.
American cheese is cheddar cheese with milk, sodium citrate (dehydrated vinegar and baking soda) and “less than 2%” of some other stuff that’s totally fine to eat. People who act sanctimonious about American cheese should generally be avoided because they’re usually full of 💩 about other things too (example: MSG). Excellent video! 👏🏻🍻
Couldn't agree more!
Dollar general carries them! They’re our favorite! Wife just brought 16 boxes! lol
Yes, life is too short not to have butter or mayonnaise.
I have been saying that to my customers for years. My Vietnamese wife hates that I love butter so much. I tell her who is the one that is fat and happy? ;-)
🤣🤣🤣🤣 words to live by.
An old chuckwagon cook told me the two secrets to doing great hash browns are: butter and patience
I couldn't have said it better myself. That's so true. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching.
Oh Johnny, we made it tonight for dinner! Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome!!!!! I'm so glad you ended up making it Mary. Hopefully you enjoyed it.
how'd you get the budget for the Spiderman cameo!?
Luckily I know some people 🤣🤣🤣
The funniest line is “Freedom Cheese.” You need to trademark that.
😁😁😁 thanks Ty.
That looks great. You have a handsome son. Great addition to the video
Thanks Randall, he gets his looks from his mom.
I’m from the UK so not sure what shredded hash browns are ? Please help I need this omelet it’s perfect hangover food lol 😂
It's simply a shredded potato. Grab a box shredder and shred away. Put them into a towel and squeeze all the liquid out. Last them on a towel and let them dry for a little while. That's it, start curing the hangover!
@@mikedefalco7791 thank you so much I did think it looked like shredded potatoes but wasn’t sure when he said hash browns thanks for your reply appreciate it I’ll remember it for the next party 😀
Yup they're just shredded Sharon. Thanks so much for watching from across the pond and hopefully you can make this for yourself soon. Also ye, yes it is definitely excellent food for when your hungover. At least that's what I've heard 😉😉
Hash brown omelette was my first cook on the flat top.
That's a great first cook.
Excellent Sous Chef you got helping you .
Yup he does a great job.
Great video. I love butter! Thanks!
Thanks Kelvin, glad to have more butter enthusiasts watching lol. Have a good one buddy.
Thanks for the video brother…i still need to try this one
You're very welcome, thanks so much for watching my friend b definitely give it a try.
Nice hat. Go Jackets !! Love your videos
Thanks man , go Jackets!! They need to start scoring. The defense is actually doing better than I thought they would.
that boy must get his good looks from his mother😉
🤣🤣🤣🤣 lucky for him he does!
Love your channel. Wondering if you could comment about those silicon griddle covers like “Grydl Mat”. I am considering buying one just in case mice decide to pay me a visit. Is it okay just to cover the griddle with aluminum foil? I have a lid and a cover for my grill, but I’m still worried about mouse poop!
Thanks Dan glad you like the channel. I like your spiderman icon, obviously my son and I are big fans.
So I bought a griddle mat but didn't like the process of waiting for the griddle to cook down and putting it back on. I like to clean it, cover it with the lid (even though it's still hot) and just be done so I can eat. Bc you have to wait until the griddle cools I ended up forgetting twice and left it outside and it got dirty. Now this is obviously my fault not there's so I'm not saying it's a bad product.
I think for mice droppings it would help or you could also use parchment paper rather than foil. I don't think foil would be terrible but I feel like parchment is better.
I hope that answers your question. I don't think it's a "must buy" and I don't really use mine but it works in some applications. Thanks for watching.
@@JohnnyBrunet Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it.
Made this with fancy cheese today and it was amazing!!!!!! Thanks
Heck ya! What's you use? I'll give that a try next time.
No olives... completely agree 😊
Thanks for being on my team with that. We gotta fight the good fight.
Great job as always. I gotta try this.
Thanks buddy.
Your boy is ADORABLE!
Thank you.
Excellent! no frills, super easy! Rootboy Approved! 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Thanks brother.

Awesome stuff dude
Thanks! I appreciate you watching.
Those looked so good!
Thank you.
I found the carton of dehydrated hash brown potatoes at Dollar tree today, definitely making this sometime this week 😊
Awesome!!! I think you'll be really happy with the dehydrated hash browns. They're super easy.
Great video man. I watched it while eating my simple scrambled eggs and bacon made on my Blackstone. Gunna do hash brown omelets next weekend!
Thanks Steve. Nothing wrong with eggs and bacon my friend. Definitely give this I omelet a try.
“Just out here laying omelette bricks”😂😂😂😂
😁
Olives are amazing! Only black though. Green would be heresy!
Heresy indeed! Thanks for watching
I cooked this immediately after watching the vid. I used the Idaho dehydrated spuds. A huge hit and fun to make. I may have over salted a wee bit so I learned to be careful of that
Awesome Steve!!! I'm so glad you tried it. Yes you definitely need to watch the salt and pepper. I usually go pretty light on my omelettes and just let my wife add more if she wants. I'm so glad you made it and that it turned out well. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend my friend.
You still plan on starting that diet next week?
Oh ya, or maybe the week after 😁
@@JohnnyBrunet Lmao, also wanna give a big thanks to you. I’m a new young homeowner starting a family and your videos have helped a ton when it comes learning how to cook for my family. I lived off of frozen meals almost every dinner growing up, so your channel has been very informative to me. I bought a blackstone about half a year ago and have been making a lot of the meals for my wife and newborn that you’ve had on the channel.
@@dylancampbell9249 congratulations on the new home and baby. I'm so glad my videos have helped you. It really makes my day to hear that. I don't know everything about cooking but I'm glad what little I do know has helped. Have a great week and thanks so much for watching my friend.
Bacon-up grease? It’s that good to use?
I've actually never used it before. I need to give it a try.
Hey Johnny. I use to work for a company that represented a company that produced dehydrated hashbrown potatoes. They work great for the very small mom and pop Cafes that do not have a lot if freezer space. Even thought I sold them, I thought they were really bad. They never fully rehydrate and you never get that tender soft center once they are cooked. Frozen is awesome along with those you buy in the refrigerator case. No matter what you use, they have to be completely dry before using them. I love these hashbrown omlettes. We have them about every month. Love your channel.
That's good to know. I've had pretty good luck with them but I'll have to try out some of the fresh ones as well. I guess I've never thought about the tender soft center but that true. They really just turn into all crisp. I'm glad you like the channel and I really appreciate you watching.
Good Vid Brother. Did your son straight tear that egg in half, & didn't get any shell in it? He's a cutie. Better watch out. He's gonna steal your channel and audience. 😮😢😅😂 I've got some Tots to try someday too. Since you swear they're a life changer in the Hashbrown Game. Once again. Awesome Vid. Stay Blessed. 😊
I did the tot hash browns last weekend.
You won’t be disappointed!
Hey Shawn. Yes he definitely just tore the egg in half. He really wasn't interested in my advice on how to break eggs he just went straight for it lol. I appreciate you always watching my friend.
Jabet. You're my fave TH-cam cook. Hussey is ok. Sounds like Waltwins are stopping. I just like your everyman style. Not fake front. I feel like you don't BS and try to make food for people on a budget. I appreciate that. Stay Blessed, & Keep Cooking. ❤️ 👊
@@shawnmcdonnell1779 thanks. I like Hussey a lot he seems super nice. Did the Waltwins announce they are stopping? I missed that.
One of them did a post that said it was.
