    If you're wondering if there are any Indian Jedi, look no further than Jedi Master Depa Bilaba. She was the apprentice of Mace Windu and had some pretty interesting stories in both legends and canon novels/comics.

    Once a force user embraces the dark side they start decaying very slowly! The old man disintegrating shows how long and how decayed the dark side had made him. It’s a great implementation of lore with using words!

      I didn't think about that, I was thinking it was like Darth Sion where he was so old and decrepit the only thing keeping him alive was the spirit of hatred vengeance and hs blood lust and when he died his corpse like body fell apart.

      I think this is more like Darth Sion where this sith forced himself alive for far too long through force of hatred. The whole theme of the episode is age and that fits better.

    The rule of two was only invented after a BIG TIME, by Darth Bane
    But before that the Sith were just like the Jedi order
    But Bane judged that the Darkside was like a poison, if shared could be weaken
    So one Master teaches an Apprentice (Aprenticce? Aprenntice?) And then he Kills the master

    • @StopReadingMyNameOrElse
      @StopReadingMyNameOrElse 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The Master teaches until a student overthrows him. And this is purely The Sith. Sith regularly employ Dark Side users, who arent actually Sith. Powerful Acolytes, but the Rule of Two applies strictly to the Sith not the Dark Side itself.

    • @weirddeck4193

      And so he had all the sith congregate in one area and says hey I’ve got this new idea that your only going to love, it’s called the rule of 2 and for it to work I’m going to have to mark all y’all

    • @khazms

      Wasn't the "idea" thought of by Darth Revan. Darth Bane only implemented it after learning about it from Revan's holocron.

  • @taheahshahdaiah6422
    @taheahshahdaiah6422 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    You're right about there should be balance between the dark and the light. The sith philosophy however makes that impossible. The dark side is natural, it's just the sith that are enemies of balance. That's what the prophecy was about, destroying the sith not the dark side.

  • @imnotayoshi8685
    @imnotayoshi8685 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Chris was on the right path. One of the best characters in the extended universe Darth Bane saw the folly of the sith, that they would just always betray and kill their own ranks for power it was the nature of the Darkside, that 10 weaker sith could take out a master before they reached his platue, insuring the sith could only get weaker. Bane tricks all the sith into killing themselves and re-established the sith as a shadow and a whisper, with only one master and one apprentice, one to embody the power of the Darkside, and one to crave it, and when the time comes and the training is complete the apprentice will challenge his master and only one will walk away.

    Sheev Palpatine aka Darth Sidious was the Dark Lord of the Sith, his first apprentice was Darth Maul. After Maul's defeat, he was abandoned by his master. Former Jedi Count Dooku becomes the second apprentice to the dark lord. Later in Episode 3 Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker killed Count Dooku and would go on to betray the Jedi Order by Joining the Sith becoming the third apprentice known as Darth Vader. Asajj Ventress wasn't a true sith, instead, an assassin trained in the darkside. However, she was a former Jedi Padawan. Savage Opress and Darth Maul were rival Sith, thus, Darth Sidious killed Savage and defeated Maul. There are further details but that is the gist of it.

    Some really great things in this episode that tie into the larger saga. The Jedi Master's line "the seeds of misfortune, while in peaceful soil, can be easy to overlook" is ironic because two Jedi, presumably a bit before the High Republic Era, just encountered a former Sith. While the Jedi probably assume he's much older, and they don't know about Darth Bane's new order, we the audience know that eventually the Sith will come out of hiding and take power. The Jedi can't see this due to the peaceful climate.
    Dan's master also tells him to remember his training and his kindness, and we see in the episode how he forges connections to the children of this planet. Part of the reason why the Jedi fell is because they became out of touch with the common folk and too embroiled in politics, while sitting in their ivory tower temple. This is something Ahsoka Tano knows all too well. Dan's master lamenting on how weak he's becoming and how power is impermanent also serve as foreshadowing for the fall of the Jedi and the Republic, even though that is likely centuries down the line from this.

  • @CaesiusX
    @CaesiusX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    My take on Palpatine is different. I can see why *Chris* would say that he's behind the scenes _not being a Sith Lord,_ per se. But that's only when he's hanging out with his Republic bros. When he's hanging out with the separatists, he's full on Sith Lord. He is Dooku's master after all.
    As with any IP that gets BIG, things eventually start to be played fast and loose. You have plenty of Dark Side users, and supposedly only two Sith. And yet, those Dark Side users are considered working for the Sith so. . _.semantics?_
    I really like the dub with this one. If you're not doing it already, I recommend checking out the dub after you've finished watching it with the subtitles.

  • @DarthPrime52
    @DarthPrime52 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The game Knights of the Old Republic (or KOTOR as the fans affectionately call it) has a great moment as to why the Rule of Two needed to be a thing.
    In the game you travel to the Dark Side world Korriban and enroll in the Sith Academy there.
    At the end of this quest line there, you can have removed the headmaster and his second-in-command, thus creating a power vacuum.
    As you’re leaving other Sith there will ask what happen the masters which can answer that you killed them and declare yourself the new master, to which the Sith your talking to goes "No! I’m the master now! Me!"
    And then you have to fight you’re way thorough the Academy.
    Though the Sith teach how the strong rule, might makes right, and by their own philosophy gig should be in charge now, the Sith instead turn on you thinking they have the opportunity to become the Academy’s headmaster, thus showing how self-destructive the Sith really are.
    So Darth Bane, thousands of years later (note KOTOR is just under 4000 years ago and Darth Bane’s time was a thousand years ago), would engineer the destruction of the Sith and create the Rule of Two: a master and an apprentice; one to embody power, the other to crave it.

    There is precedent those jedi who are deeply connected to the balance of the force for lack of a better explanation their bodies are dematerialized in a rapture type of fashion and become force ghosts connected to the like stream-of-consciousness
    however Sith or those imbued with the deep hatred and rage like Darth Sion, The walking corpse, their bodies are held together merely by their own hate. Also darth Maul held on to life through pure spirit of vengeance.

    There seemed to be some confusion over the number of Sith as it pertains to Darth Bane's Rule of Two. Here's how it works. There can be many who follow Sith teachings and wield the Darkside of The Force but only the Master and the Apprentice are considered Dark Lords of the Sith and take on a new name with the Darth title. Following this rubric you can see that there is only two at one time. Darth Sidious was Darth Plagueis's apprentice till just before the events of The Phantom Menace when he killed Plagueis and elevated Maul to the title of Darth. Maul's time was short lived, as he was discarded by Sidious after Maul's defeat by a Padawan on Naboo. Sidious then turned Jedi Master Count Dooku to the Darkside and gave him the Sith title Darth and the name Tyrannus. After Anakin Skywalker executed Darth Tyrannus, he finished his fall to the Darkside a few months later and was christened as Darth Vader by his new Master.

    The Balance of the Force is not about balancing good and evil, light and dark, that’s a common mistake people make.
    Balance of the Force is more about harmony, like the Force is a big harmonious song, with the Dark Side a discordant note that undos the harmony.
    The Dark Side is often referred as a cancer (something George Lucas called it), and you’re body cannot "balance" being fifty percent health and fifty percent cancerous, and that’s how it is with the Force.
    The Force is generated by life, as Yoda explained in Empire Strikes Back, "Life creates it(the Force), makes it grow." So the Jedi respect and except the natural order, and so they are meant to be servants of the Force.
    The Sith meanwhile will exploit and distort the Force to let them manipulate the material world, believing this to give them power over the natural world and life itself, as Palpatine told Anakin in Revenge of Sith, "The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities some would consider unnatural."
    The Jedi seek to serve the Force and protect life and the natural order of things, the Sith use the Force to gain power to subvert the natural order, which in turn actually harms the Force.
    This can be summed in the Jedi’s famous saying "May the Force be with you", opposite the Sith’s own version “May the Force serve you well."
    To the Jedi the Force is their ally, something to call upon to give them aid and be their guide; the Sith see the Force as tool through which the gain power, it serves them not the other way around.
    The Village Bride short actually did an amazing job of exploring this, showing people living in harmony, or balance, with nature, and thus they had their own unique relationship with the Force; the short honestly, no lie, made me tear up at how well it depicted Star Wars, at just how much it got right.
    And even people who are not Force sensitive can become distorted by the Dark Side.
    One of the best things in the episode of The Mandalorian where Ashoka showed up was showing how you don’t have to be a Force user to damage the Force like a Sith might.
    In that episode, Ashoka explains that the magister, the villain of the episode, lost her family during the Clone Wars, which filled her with anger(which of course is a Dark Side treat) and sent her on dark path of exploiting and tearing up worlds for their resources, destroying the life their and thus harming the Force, which is of course what you see happened on the forest world that episode is on.
    Even better, when Ashoka take’s Grogu to be test, she takes them to a patch of green, a place that still has life on this planet and thus would be the point on it that the Force was the strongest.
    None of which, thankfully, was explained or spelled out to the audience, you just see a green spot on a largely died world and think, "Life’s still here, so the Force is strongest here."
    Anyway TL;DR: the Dark Side is cancer and there’s no such thing as balance with cancer.

    The Elder is actually my least favourite. Its story is decent, but everything else - the animation, the dialogues, the pacing - are very, very stilted.
    The animation feels especially cheap in this short. From the abundance of static shots of just two people standing around talking to each other (the most egregious being the opening scene, where the Jedi Master and his Padawan are just... talking whilst inside a spaceship, and which goes on for what feels like ages), and the abuse of medium shots where you can just see characters from their waists up, etc. It's definitely one of those anime where everything is intricately and elaborately drawn, but there's a bare minimum of animation. Characters rarely physicially emote, and mostly just incline their heads and move their lips, etc.

      Big agree, I think all the other shorts were swinging harder for the ropes textually and visually. This is still a nice, competent episode.

      Yes this is a weak episode, considering it's from Trigger
